    Didn’t feel rushed for me. Just took out the gameplay, added extra dialogue for character development and changing some details to make it is more grounded.

    And kudos to Pedro Pascal who crushed that whole suicide scene, knowing what he had to go through in real life around this topic. His nervous hand gestures while he is telling Ellie his story are stellar acting coming from a very very deep place (we now discover "talkative daddy mode Joel" by the way, which was kinda odd).

      i didn’t know he went through something suicide related that scene is sad to me in a different way now :(

    i do wish we got more like moments that weren’t so rushed. like the giraffe scene or joel and ellie’s conversation about him hurting himself.

      How was it rushed??

      David needed two episodes. "The ending" needed two episodes. Other parts of the story were rushed too, but the last arcs should not have been compromised.

    I would love to hear the perspective of someone who has kids. As a mom, Joel’s decision wasn’t that gray for me. The way I see it, he didn’t pick himself above humanity. He picked her life over a less than 50/50 scenario. I wouldn’t risk the life of my daughters if something was less than 100% certain to work. He had to instantly react to the information he was provided with: 1. The cure may or may not be possible, they weren’t sure of what they were doing; 2. Ellie was not fully aware of what she had signed up for. I would without a DOUBT do exactly what he did!!! There’s NO WAY you’re killing her for a maybe. No way!!!! Only parents would understand this perspective.

      No parent would want their child to die without being even given a choice. Joel felt full again in life with Ellie, he would just be an empty shell without Ellie and Tess.

      I believe Craig's said that, when asked, non-parents felt 50/50 about Joel's decision, but 100% of parents said they would have made the same choice

    Joel was trying to make Ellie feel better and being uncharacteristically happy before they even got to the hospital.. it wasn't only after the hospital. It's because Ellie was traumatized from the catabol and Joel was trying to bring her back.

    I can't speak for the whole show after episode 3, but literally last episode they had Joel's watch in the scene as he was hugging Ellie after he found her. It seemed pretty intentional to have it in the shot as well.

    The season finale of The Last of Us was an emotional rollercoaster! I appreciated how the show stuck to the game's plotline in some ways while also adding its own twists and turns. The acting was superb, and the finale's intensity had me on the edge of my seat. It was heart-wrenching to see Joel lie to Ellie about what happened, but it added another layer of complexity to their relationship. I can't wait to see how their story unfolds in season 2!

  • @imarchit
    @imarchit ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In the end no one gave the choice to Ellie.
    If Ellie had been given the choice, would she say yes? I don't know. I would like to believe, fundamentally she would want to say yes but the fact they put that interaction where Joel says Ellie is the one who healed his wounds not time has to mean something. Ellie is mature enough to realise, her bond with Joel has grown exponentially and her dying would leave Joel empty.
    Also no bonus episode?

    Marlene wouldn’t know why Ellie was immune to “recreate” that.
    She didn’t know she was immune until 14 years later and Anna lied to her and told her she was bit after she gave birth.

    I wish they kept the following line when Ellie talked about Riley, after she talked about Riley turning she said “ I’m still waiting for my turn”

    The flashback on Anna was brilliant❤. The character and characterization bind strongly with the storytelling. The protagonist and the antagonist amplify the climax remarkably. The anticlimax I thought was the plot ends too soon. Overall, the cast and production team are awe-inspiring ❤!

    📺I feel like this first season of TLOU on HBO set the story up for people like myself who haven't played the video game. Also with Craig as a lead he's more of a storyteller. Pedro did say they didn't crouch while they walked as they do in the game because..... Well.... He's old. He's a Zaddy ❤ that would put a lot of strain on his back. I hope the second season covers more of the missing time before Ellie turns 18/19.... Like when she went back to the Salt Lake City hospital and knows Joel is lying. 🥴 was disappointed Salt Lake City didn't have infected Mormons in a suit and tie chasing them down the block with a bible asking how they feel about their Lord and savior

  • @nicolevolpe8655

    I'd love to explore why Ellie is so willing to sacrifice herself, maybe unpack some of her survivor's guilt/trauma/savior complex, perhaps tackle why she feels the only thing that makes her life important is how she might be able to help other people by ending it. I'm dying to hear someone tell her that her life matters because she's living it. At least plant the seed so she can eventually, one day, hopefully heal enough to believe that amongst the truckload of trauma she gets to go through.

    Watching this makes me realize, I wish I didn't know the game so well. Every single thing about the show would have hit a lot harder. In fact all the things I lost it over are unique to the show like "It wasn't time that did it" and "I'll follow you anywhere you go". It's probably because I did not see those moments coming. I hate that feeling of wanting things from the game to be in the show, it taints how incredible the show is.

    People who want more infected should play the game. If I wanted to watch zombies attack and “action” in that format I’d watch a brainless zombie movie like World War Z. Last of Us is about the story. The infected are just a catalyst and they had just enough for that

  • @RR64434
    @RR64434 ปีที่แล้ว

    I understand about no infected like there is in the game but I think at this point in the show, not the game, it is no longer about the infected being a threat; that role has been taken over by the nature of humans.

    i was disappointed to see the episode was 43 minutes, i felt like it could’ve been double that time to really get into the tiny details. still loved it tho.

    Here's what I'd like to know and I really hope sometime from either the show or game sees this and can answer. At the hospital, if Marlene HAD trolls Ellie the truth about the procedure and if Ellie would have said no, would they have forced her to the procedure against her will?

    • @imarchit
      @imarchit ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Them not even asking her and directly just going for surgery, pretty much answers your question. She was going to die irrespective of her choice.

    I also felt like the finale felt a bit "rushed." I'm glad the show exists and they can branch off to other character's stories since you don't have to follow Joel and Ellie 100% of the time like in the game, but I think maybe another episode spent with them developing their relationship more would've helped a bit. I also agree that there could've been more infected, it didn't feel like they were a huge presence and it just felt like there was a lack of tension which might have helped with the bonding experience.
    If the game is a 10/10, I'd give the show a high 8.X/10

      I mean LOOOOONG time fan of the game. Played it maybe 12 times now. This didn’t feel rushed at all. I was surprised

  • @ln2675
    @ln2675 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree: it moved far too fast!!!!! And the link with episode 8 is too far gone in my opinion, bringing the shifting in Ellie's attitude towards Joel very odd. But overall the story goes forward... Joel was right to prevent this from happening because they did not know for sur that by killing Ellie they would even reach a cure. And they did not ask Ellie if she was OK with that. The hosoital felt rushes also. They could have waited a few hours to present her with the options. The way he kills everybody is really understable although morally unacceptable. But every father would have done the same: you are beyond rage. But did he have to prevent Ellie from knowing the truth? Well that's the only mistake Joel makes.

    • @veggiewillymass
      @veggiewillymass ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well Ellie knows the truth. She knows Joel is lying to her. She just chooses to believe the lie

    Do you think they will give season 2 the same result, or will they HOPEFULLY add more science... like having Ellie's bitten fingers grow back, maybe not looking quite right, and have ELLIE have twins... one like her, and another twin that needs to be culled?
