MY personal favorite is brown sugar & melted butter, maybe even with a little of my custom homemade vanilla extract. I do believe I heard the onepotchef say: *whatever you like*. I've been making this cake since I was in my teens. I am now a grandmother, just to give you a general idea of how many years experience I have. I have never had any complaints ;) To each his own. That is the fun of making a recipe *yours*. Good day.

I only had a can of store brand pineapple which often lacks flavor against name brands,so I added a very small dash of Orange extract with the vanilla that is called for in the recipe and it tasted marvelous! Super easy & delicious cake. I have fresh pineapple at the moment & will just coarsely blitz it.. Fun fact... My mum never had a bundt tin so she would improvise using a regular cake tin with a heat proof buttered & floured glass in the middle of it. Always worked & always a treat :)

Just made this, its very simple to make, but turned out with a rubbery texture to it, maybe next time I'll bake it a little longer and put a little oil, a bit more flour, and less sugar its very very sweet
I think this sounds great. But if I make it I will definitely also add sweetened shredded coconut to the mix, the kids and I love coconut. Not only will that add an extra dimension to the flavor profile but it will keep my diabetic husband from being tempted since he hates coconut.

Mine was rubbery too. And too sweet. I won't be making it again. Pineapple, I feel, doesn't lend itself too well to a cake :(

Maybe not--there are some oil-free muffin recipes involving applesauce.
You're right Jidith. NO OIL. The pineapple makes up for the oil in this cake as applesauce sometimes does for other cakes.
I just made this cake, i never made a cake without milk or butter in however i felt like it was too dry and needed some butter in it.
