Just hit 11k on one of these (carbed as in the video). Fantastic little bike not missed a beat. Bought partly due to this video second hand. The only thing to note is that the headstock bearings don't seem to be great.
Owned a CBF 125 for 1 year its biggest selling point was its mpg the best of all the 125 bikes at that time Its downsides were Rust and the dreaded kangaroo jumping which is caused by the wax in the fuel tank blocking the fuel injector, a lot of Cbf owners will fit inline fuel filters to stop this, Also I believe the Cbf is no longer made and has been replaced by the CB125F which has new styling and better gear ratio for citys
The CBF isn't a well made bike, seen plenty of bad threads on them on forums, 99% of the time all rust related issues. My mate had one from new when they first came out and it was a shit storm, went through 2 exhausts and a gearbox in 14,000 miles. Was epically good on fuel though, being fuel injected and all that. He paid 2 grand for his with gear and locks from a Honda dealer, shame they seem to cost a lot more now.
You ever been on any of the Keeway range? would be cool to get your thoughts on them. I've had an RKV for two weeks now and love it so far, pity it won't stop fuckin raining lol video going up tomorrow about my thoughts so far.
I've had the ZSX-F for 3 weeks now and love it. It's the first I've been back on 2 wheels in 20 years. I am finding it runs a bit lean from the factory though as there's a wee bit of a knock under load. Did you find the same spicy? Ordered a 110 main jet so I'll see how that goes. The side stand is shit though. I pretty much only use the centre stand now. Other than that, it's a cracking bike for the money.
@@spicy110 thank you. And over all I'm still torn between buying a honda over a lexmoto. Just so worried about parting with the cash for something to go wrong with them. I know you've got loads of experience with the lexmoto s. How do they shape up after owning it for a while. Because I'm worried about paying out the money and not getting much in return when it come to sell it
Well lexmoto's come with 2 years parts and labour warranty and a years unlimited break down cover. For the same money you would only get a second hand Honda.
Back in 2015, i bought a ZSF for £1100 for commuting on. 3 months later, 500 miles the same dealer and a few overs offered me £300 max. Scrap value is most likely the correct word. Ended up putting nobbles on it and green laning the shit out of it lol.
Any dealer anywhere will offer you a lousy trade in value because some are silly enough to take it. Sell privately and you'd expect to sell for between £800-900 without an issue.
i agree with Lexmoto uk iv seen the sinnis apache and the lexmoto adrenaline both go for £800-£900 on gumtree dealers need to make money from any of the bikes there have in stock and trading in your old bike is a no no so i agree with lexmoto
I used to have a Honda CG125 and I could definitely go faster in 4th gear than in 5th. 4th would get to around 55mph and 5th would do around 50. I'm beginning to wonder if something was wrong with it because other 125s seem to do much more.
The footpegs... The Mash 125cc Seventy Five has the same exact problem with the footpegs. Almost dropped the bike a time or 2 because of that. Might be a 125cc problem, to keep the costs down? Interesting to see that Lexmoto has the same problem.
Probably. Aftermarket footpegs shouldn't be that expensive, but it normally isn't the first thing you want to change on a bike. Just a simple bolt tightener or nut and bolt fixation would prevent this problem. Lets hope they listen and change it for the future bikes. ;)
I'm not that stupid lol. At 5:16 you can clearly see that the "red line" is at about 8k. The limiter is usually not much beyond that so that fact it revved all the way up to about 12k suggested it didn't have a limiter. The stuttering you hear didn't sound like a limiter.
Do you were i can find a you tube recording showing how to install front and back Dash Cam on the ZSX-R 125 and do you know where the fuse box is located.
Do you really suggest removing the safety from the sidestand or did I misunderstand you there? I'd rather (almost) drop the bike than have a bad accident because I forgot the sidestand and have it catch in the next corner.
+Alexander Hetzel it dosnt have one that's the point. That's why it is made to not stay down. On most of my bikes I have disabled the side stand kill and not once is 8 years of riding have I tried to ride off with the stand down. If you don't trust yourself enough to do that then don't.
Hey spicy, what do you think of the Adrenaline EFI? I was going to get an adrenaline next year but i might soon so i dont have to get an EFI model. Some people dont like the idea of fuel injection and combined breaking. I dont really know enough about bikes, but whats your opinion?
The0rdie unfortunately like it or not efi and the combined brakes is a legal requirement of euro 4, now with fuel injection like everything it has its + & - firstly its much better for cold start and overall fuel economy, but its also not as simple to work on as an owner. Now the brakes are a separate issue and again its a safety legislation point, but if you really want to un-link em it can be done, however I think that they would possibly fail the mot, but without further information I'm not sure on that point, so there you have it, ultimately all 125s will have to be like this from whatever manufacturer, hope this helps.
spicy what's happened to the channel we all subbed to, flooded your content with reviews but no content like it used to be, not trying to be rude just honest #bringbacktheoldspicy110
+Tom Francis I have talked about this in a vlog ironically! It's coming to the end of the season I'm getting what's left to do done, I won't be reviewing bikes over the winter.
Spicy quick question what video and audio editing software do you use, I want to have a crack at recording some trips just for fun of others in the group?
baught on of these, gotta say spicy was spot on, but im having an issue with myn occasionally round about 20-30 miles an hour in second where it feels like a kicking mule. otherwise this is a nice bike.
Easier to resell for a decent price for if I wanted to sell privately, but the sigma attached (whether it's fair or not) is an issue. If you was able do to a video a side by side comparison. Pretty sure that would be very useful to people.
Unusual for a non sport 125 to have folding rider pegs at all if I remember right. The YBR I rented last year didn't have them, not the Hon-Li they gave me while the YBR was in for mot! And!!!! ...... although I don't disagree with Chinese bikes as a whole, ..... that particular one was absolute shite!!!!! Obviously nothing to do with Lexmoto! RSM8, keep the vids and reviews coming, love 'em all!
The extra £1000 goes into fuel injection, better components (no unsprung footpegs), better known dealer backup, a stronger resale value, (probably) better reliability and the Honda badge.
+Nathan Bellows these are all assumptions. I have compared the 2 bikes side by side build as I say in the video is level and some components on the cbf are not as good as the Lexmoto. Resale value when you work out total loss over a couple of years is debatable and too depended on the condition of the bikes after that time. Better known dealer back up? So where is my closest Honda dealer? Oh they all closed down near me. Your last point! Yes about 80% is that alone and the belief people have based on the larger cc bike Honda or what ever brand really make, not the ones made for them by not a single Honda employe also in China. I'm working on facts and experience not assumptions.
tbh the CBR 125 and the CBF 125 are pretty much the exact same bike except different footpeg positions and more fairings. the frames and such are mostly the same. I wanted the CBR but couldn't afford over the CBF so went with that. the CBR in bigger versions might be more worth it than the 125 version in my opinion
Few years back I was selling my old KTM 525 EXC, which had one of them suicide kick stands, I let a lad test ride it, all went well, he got off and fucked up with the stand and dropped the bike... sold!
"It's a great little bike" Mmm what a weapon. Spicy come on now. I will clarify that by saying I hate 125's. I suppose there are people that think I must get a Lexmoto. Seriously for a moment why did you choose to review this bike? Second hand quality Japanese makes are a better choice I would of thought.
+Sleepingdragon 1. because lots of people are interested in 125cc bikes and as the 3rd most registered (by month) bike brand in the country, Lexmoto are the best peoples bikes to test. 2. I'm not getting on to the Chinese bike argument again I have 100s of times over the past 5 years. Its facts logic that bring me to my conclusions not what "people think" you are in a minority that has been dieing down over the past few years. Just like the Japanese bikes did back when they first came here.
That's interesting. I suppose the bottom line is price. I'm guessing the Chinese are addressing quality issues now. It's like the Skoda question. When there has been issues with quality it takes along time for some people to accept the product is now good. Clearly there is a good market for these and consequently makes it a good choice to review. Each to their own. We can't all have a garage full of Italian and German exotica. It's still a tinny little hairdryer. Ride safe man.
They are decent little bikes for people on a low budget who can't afford to do their test or get a bigger bike. I would love to do my DAS but then I would have no money for a bike. I'm looking to get a used 125 of some kind to see me through while I save to do my test then get a bigger bike. So maybe this seems pointless to you but for some this might help. Not me though, too expensive lol
I take your point Halfdead Rider. I skipped the 125 thing. I rode them as a teenager without a licence but that's another thing. I went straight on to big bikes unlimited cc. I got myself a full licence and a second hand VFR 800fi and lid and leathers, gloves, jeans and boots all for £3000inc licence. I'd go that way but it's up to you man.
Sleepingdragon 1 I did ride bikes many years ago as a kid around 14 but never got my licence. That was my plan too, but probably up to a 600, but being forced to wait to save more money and want to get a bike soon so going 125 for a year or so. Should get most if not all my money back to put towards a bigger bike.
What's emissions got to do with how obsolete a bike is? we all shove new exhaust systems which blow out any "eco-safe" emissions out the window anyway.
I have no beef with lexmoto. I like them. I just think the styling on the rs 125 is much nicer. Lets be honest. It's all the same bike with different plastics and suspension. ;)

the new opening sequence, time lapse pic is awesome
been eagerly awaiting this review! thanks!
Great review, thanks 😊
I wish bikes like this were available in the states.
Hey spicy, doing my CBT soon and getting myself an Adrenaline from Lexmoto :D wish me luck
+Reevy125 best of luck! 🍀
spicy110 Yaaay, thank you buddy!!
Good luck bud. DONT PANIC!
got one my self im enjoying it so far, good luck
Keep up servicing and there's no problem
5th gear is just like old skool overdrive on this one mate, and on another note you seem a lot better now.......nice
Just hit 11k on one of these (carbed as in the video). Fantastic little bike not missed a beat. Bought partly due to this video second hand. The only thing to note is that the headstock bearings don't seem to be great.
28 and still going to do a CBT and ride a 125. easy way in before i decide if i want to go deeper into that rabbithole
Ha,Ha,28 I am 52 and doing mine next weekend.
Like your honest review being 6ft4 my self always looking for a great 125cc for commuting. This bike look alot like a Honda cbf
seems like it could do with a bigger rear/smaller front sprocket
30 in 1st?
I'm lucky if my Aspire will do 20.
Owned a CBF 125 for 1 year its biggest selling point was its mpg the best of all the 125 bikes at that time
Its downsides were Rust and the dreaded kangaroo jumping which is caused by the wax in the fuel tank blocking the fuel injector, a lot of Cbf owners will fit inline fuel filters to stop this, Also I believe the Cbf is no longer made and has been replaced by the CB125F which has new styling and better gear ratio for citys

Can you do a review on the Lexmoto Assault? There's a lack of reviews for it.
Hello mate
What would you say was better this one or the venom?
Ohh it's been a while! Tbh it's close enough I think it would be your personal preference. Better wind protection on this tho.
@@spicy110 thank you. And over all I'm still torn between buying a honda over a lexmoto. Just so worried about parting with the cash for something to go wrong with them. I know you've got loads of experience with the lexmoto s.

Is the resale price on all Lexmotos still 'scrap value'? If it is then it's probably wiser to get the ZSA and save £500 towards a big bike.
Back in 2015, i bought a ZSF for £1100 for commuting on. 3 months later, 500 miles the same dealer and a few overs offered me £300 max. Scrap value is most likely the correct word. Ended up putting nobbles on it and green laning the shit out of it lol.

The CG motor is pushrod motor which is bullet proof but not as quick as the Over head cams on most of the other 125 motors.
this little bike is fully set up for courier riders
ks bikes thats why i just bought it for
I had a crash on my bike a few weeks ago and I'm nearly healed... what do you think is best get back riding or wait?
Jump back on the saddle m8. I got knocked off my bike (write-off) and passed my bike test the next day :)
The footpegs...
The Mash 125cc Seventy Five has the same exact problem with the footpegs.
Almost dropped the bike a time or 2 because of that.
Might be a 125cc problem, to keep the costs down?
Interesting to see that Lexmoto has the same problem.

Recently bought this bike, how do I fix the k I’m stand to keep it down??
Do that bike have a rev limiter? Looks like redline at 8k but you had it screaming up to 12k to hit 50 in 2nd.
+BluePixel Motorcycling yes it has a limiter you hear it in the video. And if it hits 12k the limiter clearly isn't 8k.

5th in these kind of bikes is almost like an eco mode, 1-4 are fine, but just use 5 when you aren't changing speeds and wanna save a bit of fuel

Did I hear that correctly? -1500-1600lbs... for a motorcycle?
Pounds as in UK currency
hahaha
+Jan Verschueren yes 1600lbs of tea is the cost
Well, in the context I thought you'd just made a slip of the tongue while stating its weight.
too be fair it did come out of his mouth sounding like he was talking about the weight LOL
the mirrors look like ones that are on some BMW bikes.
im 6'6 and have the new honda cb125f and im fine on it

That music for the sexual bike shots at the start really gave me that 1980's porno vibe
+JustOutRiding haha me too
a 125 porno must now be made spicy
Great little bike. :)
hi spicy do you know if they have sorted the gear ratio's since then? also can i get spring foot rests fitted? i want this bike...
Not as far as I know.
what the hell is that gearing spice? my yzf goes 20 Max in first and highest I've got is mid 60s down hill
you keep mentioning the CBF125 what about the new CB125F
+DogsofWar999 splitting hairs much
From what I've read they don't use any of the same parts almost, the styling is different and has better low and mid ranges.
do you know of anyone who rides a ksr looking to get one but havent heard much about them?
I brought a CB125F for my first bike. It's good.
+DogsofWar999 indeed it is, however it's a grand more and it's hard to say where that grand went other than a badge and that's the point.
Easier to resell for a decent price for if I wanted to sell privately, but the sigma attached (whether it's fair or not) is an issue. If you was able do to a video a side by side comparison. Pretty sure that would be very useful to people.
its gets you from a to b mate and not for a lot to run it better than getting a bus bikes always

How would you say this compares to the Yamaha MT125?
CBF 125 is a much better bike. the MT 125 is a top range 125 will be way better but more expensive

....spicy.
Few years back I was selling my old KTM 525 EXC, which had one of them suicide kick stands, I let a lad test ride it, all went well, he got off and fucked up with the stand and dropped the bike... sold!
changed my mind! sorta like the aprilia rs4 125
You called that dash simple. It offers more than the dash does on my K9 gixxer 750. Fuel gauge. . .pure jealousy right there
+EGBK 206 haha my Drz has no gauge or light.
loose the end can which probably weighs a tonne and you'll have a nice bike !
the reason why there is very limited speed difference between 4th and 5th gear is because it is limited.

Wow you can now tell the boy's at loomies that you lexmoto has to Ducati side stand!
my mate has one of these and he hates it
Its like a better looking Honda cbf 125
weld them pegs down? haha
that pigeon though 😂😂
Cheap and cheerful I wish.. To get insurance on the Adrenaline was 2500 pound.. It is cheaper for me to get a car and insure it.. Shame really..
+Adam Shax you asked the wrong people
mines 299 a year but its third party, so no theft covered
spicy110 I asked about 10 different people, that was the cheapest I could get it.. Shame :(
I'll have a look through there, thanks
Rampdale are pretty good for Adrenaline quotes as well.
.
Sinnis Rs 125 makes this thing look shit! :D
Sinnis RS is a Euro 3 bike that's obsolete in 3 months time...
What's emissions got to do with how obsolete a bike is? we all shove new exhaust systems which blow out any "eco-safe" emissions out the window anyway.
Just Bizarre to launch a bike that'll be discontinued in 3 months time. Just wait and see what we've got coming for Euro 4
;-)
I have no beef with lexmoto. I like them. I just think the styling on the rs 125 is much nicer. Lets be honest. It's all the same bike with different plastics and suspension. ;)
We'll keep working on the new models to try and exceed your expectations :)
