Short and sweet lol! As a direct result of your feedback after you got back to Loomies I fitted brand new calipers, discs and pads at the front - yes, it needed them, but that was my first day back in the UK. Glad you enjoyed it, I'll let you have a better go next time the opportunity arises.
Thanks for the nostalgia Spicy. Sold my SV just before Christmas. I enjoyed the new SV review, must admit, it looks like a decent package cheap levers and pegs aside. I'm now working my way through your other reviews. Hope to see you at bike night sometime. Keep up the good work .
Ah man I'm looking at a V reg one at the end of the month! This video just gets me a little more excited about it! Mate is selling his old one that's been sat in his garage for two years! I'm hoping it's all good, whack an MOT on it and I finally own two wheels!
I had a 1999 sv only got rid because the petrol tank rusted out blocking the carbs with shit petrol tank in the right color cost as much as the bike great little engine sounds great but you'll have to be brave you have to chop of the old exhaust can with a hacksaw
some sv have a2 restriction and people dont even know 😂dont watch this video dont know if this is egzample of such stuff anyways i found 2 or 3 times this where dude make test sv 650 test it acceleration top speed asf and say its good asf but when i measured acceleration time oncluding tacho error thers no way this specified bike was 70-75 hp but 100% a2 locensy restricted 👋🏻😂
I got a 1999 with a scorpian can and it sounds great, but I cant really compare it to much as its my first big bike (ybr previously) but I love it, and it gets me around alright.
I got steel braided brake lines, and it made a huge difference on my wifes bike, She loves her 99 sv650, We both have yellow sv sports 1999 and a 2000 Old skool carbs , fun to ride with that redline Waaaaay up there, More like a Ducati than a Harley Vtwin power, Cheers Everyone
TheGeordieBiker had a completely identical SV to this for a few years and I'd blag a go on it whenever I could. Was good fun. Made a nice bark and the bottom end torque was monstrous having just been on my 125 :P
Somehow i couldn`t remember you riding this... I was there but how did i forget.. Maybe the colour wasn`t bright enough for me to notice it :P.. Shame i didn`t get pics of you on it either
hey thanks for the offer really appreciate it, but I do not ride other peoples bikes anymore unless they are a companies bike or a close friend. I never want to damage another persons bike even if they are happy for me to set it on fire haha.
spicy110 my friend has the 1997 version and in the lower rev range it sounds horrible but not to bad when he really rips it but I guess I'm just a cylinder snob now seen as I'm on my bandit 650 😂
Motarded Marshall which one is faster? I’m in the market for a Bandit 650/SV650 for my A2 and can’t decide on which one to go with I hated the wind blast on a naked so I’m leaning more towards the SV gen 2
there can be cream and most of the time their is. a Victoria sponge without cream is like a flattened rolly polly or whatever their called those jam things XD haha
A proper Victoria sponge has no cream or butter cream in it - at competition level it's a instant disqualification according to the high an mighty W.I. (Did a year at catering college - then decided it wasn't for me)
spicy110 if you ever have kids(im pretty sure, if i can remember you said you dont want kids) but anyway if you had a boy would you call it derek? lol and a girl jessie?
+spicy110 fair doos. I service my calipers regularly polishing the pistons and checking the pads and oil and my 2001 bike brakes as good as my old 2012 bike
One of the last jobs I was 'getting around to' since I'd bought it. It already had braided lines and EBC pads but I hadn't realised how bad they were until Spicy told me (in no uncertain terms!). At which point - out comes the wallet.
Indeed! I'm still learning my way around bikes but she's had PLENTY of love and attention (read: money) lavished on her - at the time of recording the front brakes were the last thing that needed doing and were replaced by the end of that week. Just unfortunate it's the main thing Spicy picked up on. C'est la vie.
I didn't know those older bikes also come with a speedo blur over 60 mph.
Short and sweet lol!

you sir, have a very good looking bike
Thank you very much. 👍🏻
Are you running the remus revolution exhaust with baffle in or out. It sounds exactly like my bumblebee yellow sv650s
It's a Viper end can. No baffle except for the MoT. 😎
Ah. Have you come a cropper to the shocking coil number 1 wet problem yet?
Gotta love those first gen sv's! I have an 01 naked model.
Mine had the same brake issue, braided lines, new fluid and a good clean sort it. I'm sure Cecil Pompasarse would approve
Those bikes are great, so underrated i think. you can get one for about a grand nowadays - sooo comfy, feels like a bit pit bike.
I bought one of these 2 weeks ago and I love it.
Got mine a few months ago, dont think I'll ever get rid of it. That v twin sound is beautiful
I much prefer the styling of older bike like this to the new ones 😍

You've come so far since your early days keep up the good work Spicy!
Love the sound of an SV
sweet ride! thats one clean looker older bike, still goes too!!
Im not a suzuki guy but i do love the sound of the SV
Ah man I'm looking at a V reg one at the end of the month! This video just gets me a little more excited about it! Mate is selling his old one that's been sat in his garage for two years! I'm hoping it's all good, whack an MOT on it and I finally own two wheels!
Go for it mate. I have a V sv650. Pukka bike. Pain to restrict if you need to but very quick and grunty. Deffo get an aftermarket exhaust tho
Good luck mate, they are a great bike
I had a 1999 sv only got rid because the petrol tank rusted out blocking the carbs with shit petrol tank in the right color cost as much as the bike great little engine sounds great but you'll have to be brave you have to chop of the old exhaust can with a hacksaw
Just bought one of these cheap as a project bike. Carbs need some work but once that's sorted it should make me a decent commuter bike
1:05 did you launch at those lights because I swear mine doesn't feel as slow as yours looked
Kester 135 I was going easy, not my bike ☺
Not even close, that front end will come up on a launch

Lovely looking bike. Thanks.

if you want comfy, lean on the tank with your left arm like you would on a table motorway cruising is so nice
Getting this as my first A2 bike in a month
Nice great A2 bike!
Haha i loved my old SV. Just had asimple charm to her.
TheGeordieBiker had a completely identical SV to this for a few years and I'd blag a go on it whenever I could. Was good fun. Made a nice bark and the bottom end torque was monstrous having just been on my 125 :P
no school like the old school!
Was that on standard exhaust
Somehow i couldn`t remember you riding this... I was there but how did i forget.. Maybe the colour wasn`t bright enough for me to notice it :P.. Shame i didn`t get pics of you on it either
What and awesome bike. Picks up well
that bike sounds.... mmmm, I could never get used to that.... mmmm the juices are flowing....
Iv got the 1999 sv650 and a 2005 love them both.
Are these good starter bikes?
For your first larger bike they are very popular yea.
It sounds amazing💯👍🎶🎶
Get one!
what insurance company allows you to test drive other peoples bikes on the road?
+Dean Lee many many insurance companies cover you to ride other people's bikes. 3ed party cover only.
cheers buddy
Hey Spicy, wanna review my 2008 VFR 800?
hey thanks for the offer really appreciate it, but I do not ride other peoples bikes anymore unless they are a companies bike or a close friend. I never want to damage another persons bike even if they are happy for me to set it on fire haha.
It's like driving a giant banana with wheels!
i love that beast
Brakes are spongy…. Let’s bust 120kph on a narrow road with blind curves! Brain trust material here.
How are you today spicy weather in Northern Ireland is shit today
busy busy working away but cleaned the bike so all good really! (also thanks for not being that "First" guy lol
Np spicy well at least Derek is looking good (as always) and I fucking hate the guys who have to declare they are first like we can't fucking see
Spongey Brakes are awful......Mine are the total opposite....touch them and its like your hitting a brick wall
was my first bike a 99 it was like trying to stop a wine gum in a truckers mouth
Yeah to batteries :)
What puts me off them personally they just sound like a 125
+Motarded Marshall I think you need to hear one with a decent system on it, they sound great!
spicy110 my friend has the 1997 version and in the lower rev range it sounds horrible but not to bad when he really rips it but I guess I'm just a cylinder snob now seen as I'm on my bandit 650 😂
an sv sounds amazing nothing like a 125 in person
Motarded Marshall which one is faster? I’m in the market for a Bandit 650/SV650 for my A2 and can’t decide on which one to go with
I hated the wind blast on a naked so I’m leaning more towards the SV gen 2
+Sam Kent SV650 is ideal I just got a mint 2002 naked one. And it's lovely, the torque is fantastic in all the gears and is pretty light.
Cream !! There's no cream in a Victoria sponge just jam and a dusting of caster sugar on top
there can be cream and most of the time their is. a Victoria sponge without cream is like a flattened rolly polly or whatever their called those jam things XD haha

Might be so, but in the real world they always have cream, never seen one without and don't want to ;)
nice vid :)
spicy110 if you ever have kids(im pretty sure, if i can remember you said you dont want kids) but anyway if you had a boy would you call it derek? lol and a girl jessie?
Sweet bike i own one now same color😏🍌

hey im early bye
spongy brakes ..poorly maintained bike
+wolverhampton biker the bike had just been sat for a while as the bike lives here and he lives saudi arabia!
+spicy110 fair doos. I service my calipers regularly polishing the pistons and checking the pads and oil and my 2001 bike brakes as good as my old 2012 bike

+DaveMurphyEngineer the joys of old bikes. always working on them
