You have no idea what you are talking about. I’ve owned three petrol powered Porches in the last 15 years and now I own a Taycan and it is simply brilliant.
@@tonyhilliardukI do know what I'm talking about. Sure the Taycan has instant power but is still a heavier car, I would say the mass depreciation tells me I know more than you do! @@Dan-hy5co apologies I reread what I wrote and it came across as rude. Unintentional. However I am a Porsche enthusiast and I’ve bought one so your statement isn’t accurate.
It will only end if people refuse to buy them. Even governments with their whack job policies cannot force people to buy EVs. Cars will become like smartphones - it will be all about the new releases of tech, simplicity of design and battery range. that’s why Tesla and BYD have done well so far.
On initial glance, yes. However, it's stylistically much better executed than a BYD. For a mid size SUV, it has great proportions.. On every single criteria other than cost; there's no contest.
In the USA it's sold as a 'Porsche BYD Experience' - and you get 20% off your meal at Panda Express anywhere in the U.S. for 12 months, if you show your Blue Title Document.😋
Recently test drove one Pete and i have now ordered. As a buinsess owner, a no brainer!! The 300 mile range is the game changer, unlike the Taycan. Very impressed the way it drove and will be big enough for the family. Great driving car and is was quiter than i expected. My kids in the back said the view was very limited due to the width of the front seats! That aside, everybody was happy. can't wait to get it next year. Great video as always 👍👍
Electric power never gets boring. And this is something people use as a daily driver. Nothing beats the smooth quiet linear acceleration of an electric vehicle on a daily basis. I just looked at one today in person. It’s definitely better than it looks in pictures.
@@craig8638live with it for three years as I did. Look, they are very accomplished cars but they take all the emotion out of driving.. it’s just a tool to get you from A to B. You don’t sit at home and think ‘ I’ll just go for a drive ‘
I have plenty of money to buy new cars and have bought many over the years. If the only new vehicle choice is an EV, I will never buy another new vehicle ever again. Simple. There are millions of people who hold the same sentiment as me. Manufacturers will go bust, there is just no other option.
Wrong wrong wrong, why would you want a car to drive but have no wonderful engine noise when you want it and sit around 30mins to hour or even longer if charging at home than driving the car... makes zero sense and hope porsche put their 6stroke engine into this
Daddy Daddy! The car isn't working properly. Its not making the brum brum noise! When charging at home it takes me 30 secs to charge my EV which is all the time it takes to plug it in and walk away to enjoy my evening. When charging at a motorway services the car is usually charged before I have time to have a pee and buy a coffee.
I like you and your channel. I like that you doing well and enjoying what you are doing but your reviews are becoming increasingly irrelevant due to the cars you are reviewing.😢
I review new cars to market. This is a long awaited car from Porsche. Just because it’s an EV doesn’t mean it irrelevant. Please let me know which cars I have had on the channel recently that are irrelevant? Honestly interested to know 👍
Thanks for a reply, l think the car market in this country, perhaps globally is screwed. Your insight and analysis on that would be more welcome than reviewing a new over priced Porsche which no one will buy. The reality is that pure electric vehicles are at the wrong price point, have insurance issues and there remains a question mark over their batteries in later years. We're all going to have to hang onto our ICE or hybrid vehicles for a lot longer. Manufacturers know this.
I'd have to reinforce my driveway at 2.5 tons, I bet the salesmen hate selling them because when they are 2 to 3 years old who dare tell the customer it's only worth 15 grand
Good video, I've just been in a Macan 4 for a week (courtesy car). A lot of what you say is bang on but the range at 100% only showed 286 miles and this translated into about 260 miles in reality. I also got about 42 kWh per 100 miles, mixed driving. On 22" wheels (!) it's comfort was good but not amazing, I left it in normal mostly. The interior makes it a very nice place to spend any amount of time and it's plenty fast enough. The tech and interfaces are miles ahead of my Macan GTS as is the Bose sound system, simple touches like the actual buttons for the heater controls and the central rotary dial for the volume are very well thought out. This was my first experience with an EV and I see nothing green about this 2.3 ton car. But for many I can see it being a big hit if, and only if, you can charge it at home.
£68k for the entry EV one with no extras, petrol entry is £56k and will hold it's value way better, there is no point in these expensive EV's if you can even afford one. I do have an EV myself as a company car so I'm not here just bashing EV's and I'm a massive Porsche fan boy. Porsche have already announced this week there cutting EV products through lack of demand so any EV you buy will be worthless within a year from Porsche.
@@SDK2006bI don’t think poor BC40 has worked that out. EV sales are up in Europe , Porsche just need to work harder to convince its ownership base and I say ownership base as fan base means nothing to them as they can’t afford the cars 80% of the time? This is a fantastic offering, an absolute rocket that will do the school run with ease, go to football training with kids packed in and go road trips and cost bugger all to fuel/ power and not spew out harmful fumes at street level.
@@SWR112 -yep 👍🏻 You also just described my EV use -school runs, my sons football matches Sat & Sun, MTB and Kayaking trips in Wales & Scotland during the footy off season. These EV SUV’s are perfect for this - loads of space, cheap running costs and no pollution.
Company cars started flooding the market earlier this year throwing values all over-the-place. Very few Porches were there but plenty of similar cars of similar performances albeit a sec or slower to 60 were in the mix. If I was in the market with 45k or so I wouldn't be buying a second premium EV when I could get similar performance brand new. There again only idiots buy expensive cars outright unless needing to lose some money for tax reasons. Lease or PCP and stop wasting money buying
Love the opening sequence with the rusty whateveritis. I think if you’re in a Porsche it doesn’t matter how it looks… in a way. It’s a family car for those with some coins. It’s nice.
This weighs half a ton more than my ice Macan GTS. You compared the price of the base model EV version to the top of the range Ice version of Macan. It’s hilarious how the speed of ‘refuelling’ is a feature on EVs.
Where is the majority of the weight located on an EV? - in the floor. Where is the majority of the weight located on your fuel Macan? - hanging ahead of the front wheels. Drive an EV and you will find weight isn’t so much of an issue because low centre of gravity. Also, like weight matters in car like this anyway - who is commuting via the Nurburgring in an SUV?
Was just on the configurator and managed with ease to get the base model to £115k 🤯 Absolute madness as after 2 years it will be circa £45k. This will not last. ICE with bio fuel is the way forward.
It won’t be £45k after 2 years! My iX was £100k new, and after 3 years they are selling for £50k-£60k Also, in your post you are: 1) complaining it’s expensive new 2) complaining it’s cheap used What gives ! 🤔🤯🤦🏼♂️ Bio fuel for everyday use 🤣 That’s telling me you know nothing about how much fuel the world uses on a daily basis ! The US alone uses 376 million gallons of fuel PER DAY. How is bio fuel production meeting this requirement?!🤔
@@Un-Apologetic- that looks like the £70k iX40 Now look up the iX50 💡 Also, your comparing the RRP (which no one pays) to the trade in price (which no one does) E.g no one buys a Taycan for full RRP, then 2/3 years later gives it away to Cinch. Love it, but it wouldn't be for me. I'm wanting to get out of SUVs and back into estate cars. I'm hoping that the A6/S6 Etron Avant depreciates into my much more modest budget.
Sounds as if you're looking for a premium, medium size, EV SUV - then this is the one. I think I'm right in saying it's two years later arriving than previously signposted - hopefully Porsche took some of the hard build-quality lessons learned from the Taycan into account before putting this new Macan on sale. However, I'll be sticking with my 400 hp Macan turbo, weighing nearly 400kg less and worth less than half what this EV would cost me. It makes a much better noise too!
Last week the CFO of Porsche announced that there will be termic and hybrid Macan version as well. It is a fact that Taycan does not sell, Sporttourismo will not be produced anymore and orders for new Macan are far below excpectations. They have gone to far with electric. The reverse manouvre is embarassing though...
Hello Peter….thank you for this review…but as for what to think, I’m struggling. The old ICE Macan GTS has long been a favourite but I didn’t buy one because of the cost and Hilary found the 18 way sears to be very difficult to use given her arthritis problems. I did configurations on the Macan4 when it was first announced and always landed at £95,000….the test car in white without roof will be impossible to sell! Looks…not sure about the front and it needs colours and better wheels. Driving, riding, performance and practicality are all boxes ticked. The big worries though…depreciation just like the Taycan. I’m starting to think that EV’s only work with super discounts or under £30,000 and the Macan falls apart on those targets. It is the best smallish EV on sale…but I would not buy one yet…a used Taycan or E-Tron GT feels a little “safer” with £40,000+ off the price or more….Hmmm…🤔🤔🤔😬😬😬😃😃😃Richard Update:£114487 for “ my” 4S version tonight…😰😵💫😵💫😃😃😃😊
Pete, if this can tow a caravan, what happens when you pull in to recharge? Aren’t all chargers placed so that you park in front of it? What happens to a huge caravan hanging off your rear end?? Also, how does range compare when towing?
Polished into blandness, i like the original Macan a lot, curvy sides snd Porsche bug eye front. This has lost that charm. Ioniq 5N has the space and pace snd ‘EV character’ and comes fully loaded.
If there was no legislation compelling manufacturers to produce and sell EVs, would Porsche (and the rest) be making them, and what do you think the natural balance/percentage/market demand of EV purchases actually is?
The problem with all these EV’s is it’s not going to be very long before electricity is the most expensive commodity then all EV owners will be crying over their chargers whilst they are waiting for their official charge times to come through, because electricity will be rationed simply because the national grids capacity will be completely surpassed! One may think I’m talking bonkers unfortunately since the crazy ideas of Ed Milliband’s energy policy came to light!
What a load of rubbish ( I hate Labour, so not going to defend them ) if there are restrictions on electricity then fossil fuel cars are also going to struggle as it's used for refining oil and also payments. Now imagine in the early 90s someone told you population would increase from around 59 million to around 68 million in 2024 and we would all have mobile phones, games consoles, 55"+ TVs , laptops, air fryers , dishwashers ( I can literally go on for hours with the extra electrical items we now have ) someone like yourself would have said " BUT, BUT the grid won't cope and we'll run out of electricity " . So what happened?🤔 The grid grew with the increase in our energy needs , now fossil fuel cars are going to be on our roads until at least 2040-45 . So you think the grid won't grow from now until then ?? Most people currently charge at night when electric is cheap and plentiful. People like yourself seem to think everyone will plug in at 5:30 in a evening 😲 , can you imagine everyone filling up their fossil fuel cars at 5:30 on a Friday? We'd have massive queues and petrol stations would run out. The fact is people fill up/charge at different times , in 15 years time most EVs will have 400-500+ miles of range ( ten years ago they had around 100 miles range) so most will either just top up for an hour or two of a night or fill up once a week of fortnight. So really stop talking b/s !
The issue isn't getting sufficient supply versus demand. The National Grid have spoken at length about this. The problem is getting the power to where it is needed. Grid connections by the DNOs to the high voltage grid are taking too long delaying the installation of ultra-rapid chargers (although now there are over 700 large hubs in the UK and should be well over 1000 next year).
That’s the same weight as a diesel Range Rover Sport that my friend has. He claimed that my EV Renault Megane Etech was heavy. Eh no, my car is 700kg lighter than his.

According to other reviewers who reviewed this specific car, it is on standard steel suspension. If that is the case, it wouldn’t change by different sportsettings. Or are they mistaken? Furthermore I am interested in your opinion about the standard sound system that is in that specific car. Thank you for your very refreshing down to earth and friendly reviewing style.
With a usable 95kWh battery at 2.5 miles per kWh that equates to 237 miles. I think realistically it would be around 200 miles in the real world. The dashboard showed 280 miles at 99%. EVs are fastly becoming undesirable. PS look at the reviews for CarVertical.... Shocking.
You take a low estimate (237 miles). then deduct even more off it 🤣 I easily get 3.4 miles per kWh (real world use) in my iX, which is larger and heavier. In the summer I’m touching 3.8 miles per kWh. Obviously if you drive like Lewis Hamilton F1 qualifying everywhere, then you have to expect economy will fall off a cliff
@SDK2006b it's not an "estimate". If it has 95kWh of usable power and it averages 2.5 miles per kWh that's 237 miles. Every EV I've owned has never done near what the manufacturers claimed. This is why EV sales figures are falling. In Germany they're down 67% and France down 38%. Depreciation is the main factor. Your £100k iX is worth £35k after three years. No private buyer can afford that kind of loss.
@@Un-Apologetic - I would love to know where these £35k iX50’s are 🤔 The cheapest 3 year old one on AutoTrader is £53k. No private buyer gets a brand new EV at full RRP, then 3 years later gives it away to Cinch/WBAC. This scenario only exists in social media dream land. Where is your 2.5 miles per kWh coming from? In this video? If so, then that is already the real world use (driven hard as it’s a press car) and you’re reducing it even further! Porsche quote 380 miles for this Macan, so 300+ is likely very achievable, Also, my iX achieves the quoted range figure in the summer. Not just me either - the FB group is full of people getting it.
@@Un-Apologetic Where you get the numbers from? in 2024 it is -29% in Germany...+10 in UK...+9% in France...overall in Europe -5,5%, but only due to Germany as large market...rest of Europe would make it into an increase in growth. But even in Germany the September was a record sales month...
Not keen on the design, no where near as interesting as the old ICE model (I do not hate EVs!). As for the wheels, they look like they have been nicked from a VW Beetle!
thanks for the quick review on this....feel the styling is very bland and lost any distinctive aesthetic.will try and spot one around London soon to judge in the flesh...have no issue with it being an EV or believing that it drives like a Porsche should....
I'm amazed at all the negativity surrounding this review. I suppose the channel title and the type of followers on here doesn't sit well with electric cars full stop. I have a Macan 4S on order, coming Dec 6th. I test drove a 4 like this one last weekend, and it's stunning. I'm on my 3rd Tesla, the current one a Model 3 performance, and this Macan is a million times better. Haters will always hate, but they are 100% wrong about this not selling. Orders are strong, and this will generation of Macan will continue to be the best selling car for Porsche period. Instead of criticising or making unfounded comments, go and test drive one. In the metal, they are very special I can guarantee that. Great video as always, showing brand new current car models. The times are a changing, like it or not.
I have a test drive of Macan 4 scheduled for next Saturday. Previous Macan was great to drive but bloody too small. For dogs? its fine, for human beings? You must hate your kids. New one is just OK, we can finally squeeze in, but this is still not a family car if you have teenagers. Ive got my perfect config for 72k, but with Model Y next year it will be super hard to justify spending extra 18k above expected MY price. Sadly I think I will have to wait two years and make it 'my car' and not a 'family one'... but then why not go for a Boxter or old F-type RWD?
Great review Sir Pete. Plan and simple I don’t like the styling much I like the gas powered ones styling a lot better. I think the Macan has always been a good looking midsize suv but this looks to boyish to me.
I just don't think we as a country is geared up enough for EV's and you have to look at the fact are they really that green are the factory's run solely on eco sourced power no there not so its a bit of a flop in my opinion as most manufacturers are bringing back the diesel variant and slowing the production of EV's down kind of says it all to me...

Probably a really good car. But as usual with Porsche, you really need to pay extra for almost everything. Its not even heated seats in the basic version, and private glasses.
Don’t really like the rounded rear of the vehicle, but it could grow on me, it’s just a wee bit too rounded and bulbous, the only issue is though, can I / you get a rear wiper on it, deffo needed in the UK 🤔 Secondly the weight is far too much 🫣 Thirdly the price has gone up too far aswell 🙃

That looks like an MG mixed with a Fiat 500 SUV 😆😆..no Porsche enthusiastic will buy that.
A Porsche without an exhaust, the world has gone nuts
They said no one would buy the Macan with the internal combustion engine either. But it saved the company and finances the development of 911s etc.
@craig8638 I said no Porsche enthusiast would buy it. Just mums on school run buying the Macan with the added bonus that it has a Porsche badge on front
Unless you know of another reason why I can buy a 8 year old 911 for the same price as a 2 year old Taycan? That had a higher starting price
@@Dan-hy5co apologies I reread what I wrote and it came across as rude. Unintentional. However I am a Porsche enthusiast and I’ve bought one so your statement isn’t accurate.
Looking at that car is rather painful 😒
Around £8k more than the better looking, faster, more visceral, longer ranged, and much lower depreciating Macan S? Nah!
End this soulless ev nightmare
It will only end if people refuse to buy them. Even governments with their whack job policies cannot force people to buy EVs. Cars will become like smartphones - it will be all about the new releases of tech, simplicity of design and battery range. that’s why Tesla and BYD have done well so far.
It looks like a BYD 😅
On initial glance, yes. However, it's stylistically much better executed than a BYD. For a mid size SUV, it has great proportions.. On every single criteria other than cost; there's no contest.
@1972jjb And once it's in the approved used market, it will depreciate rather fast, much like most other used electric vehicles.
In the USA it's sold as a 'Porsche BYD Experience' - and you get 20% off your meal at Panda Express anywhere in the U.S. for 12 months, if you show your Blue Title Document.😋
Hello Pete, what terrible wheels this Macan has !!! it looks very bland !!! it's starting to look like a Tesla ?
Porsche standard wheels are all horrible. Forces you to upgrade £2000. My company carpark is full of leased Taycan on the cheapster wheels, yuk.
It's hard to justify the Porsche brand tax given that EVs are largely interchangeable.
I have to be honest, I don't like it.
Does not matter.I like it
Recently test drove one Pete and i have now ordered.
Some similarities in appearance to the Spectrum Maximum Security Vehicle?

Electric power never gets boring. And this is something people use as a daily driver. Nothing beats the smooth quiet linear acceleration of an electric vehicle on a daily basis. I just looked at one today in person. It’s definitely better than it looks in pictures.

6 stroke ?!
The dash on the passenger side is so reflective at the start of the video . Was that noticeable when driving ?
Nope 👎

I like you and your channel. I like that you doing well and enjoying what you are doing but your reviews are becoming increasingly irrelevant due to the cars you are reviewing.😢
Right on the money old boy!. The chappy could bore an a***hole in a wooden horse! "Pip Pip, Tally - Ho" 🏇
@stephenlaw9827 that's your opinion. I have ordered this car and personally can't wait for it, it looks amazing to me.
One of the few good bits of tarmac left in Oxfordshire 😂
👍
£68k for the entry EV one with no extras, petrol entry is £56k and will hold it's value way better, there is no point in these expensive EV's if you can even afford one. I do have an EV myself as a company car so I'm not here just bashing EV's and I'm a massive Porsche fan boy. Porsche have already announced this week there cutting EV products through lack of demand so any EV you buy will be worthless within a year from Porsche.
The base EV vs petrol is 1 second quicker to 60mph, 100bhp more power and has a higher spec
@@SWR112 -yep 👍🏻
You also just described my EV use -school runs, my sons football matches Sat & Sun, MTB and Kayaking trips in Wales & Scotland during the footy off season.
These EV SUV’s are perfect for this - loads of space, cheap running costs and no pollution.
@SDK2006b no pollution might want to check carbon footprint vs petrol car
It’s nice.
It looks alright...but then again so does a Kia Sportage...
Horrible noise....and a Porsche without and soul. Thanks but no thanks.
Was just on the configurator and managed with ease to get the base model to £115k 🤯 Absolute madness as after 2 years it will be circa £45k. This will not last. ICE with bio fuel is the way forward.
It won’t be £45k after 2 years!
My iX was £100k new, and after 3 years they are selling for £50k-£60k
Also, in your post you are:
1) complaining it’s expensive new
2) complaining it’s cheap used
What gives ! 🤔🤯🤦🏼♂️
Bio fuel for everyday use 🤣
That’s telling me you know nothing about how much fuel the world uses on a daily basis !
The US alone uses 376 million gallons of fuel PER DAY.
How is bio fuel production meeting this requirement?!🤔

Your outdoor filming reminds me of Harry's garage sequences
"They" are EU bureaucrats not Porsche engineers.
It is the best smallish EV on sale…but I would not buy one yet…a used Taycan or E-Tron GT feels a little “safer” with £40,000+ off the price or more….Hmmm…🤔🤔🤔😬😬😬😃😃😃Richard
Update:£114487 for “ my” 4S version tonight…😰😵💫😵💫😃😃😃😊
Pete, if this can tow a caravan, what happens when you pull in to recharge? Aren’t all chargers placed so that you park in front of it? What happens to a huge caravan hanging off your rear end?? Also, how does range compare when towing?
Pete, check Harry’s Garage recent video of the Macan and a trailer. He tried to charge it. Quite amusing.
Polished into blandness, i like the original Macan a lot, curvy sides snd Porsche bug eye front. This has lost that charm. Ioniq 5N has the space and pace snd ‘EV character’ and comes fully loaded.
Will hope to get it cheap in the used market soon.
If there was no legislation compelling manufacturers to produce and sell EVs, would Porsche (and the rest) be making them, and what do you think the natural balance/percentage/market demand of EV purchases actually is?
Really good review, ill be buying one next year. Currently debating 4 or 4S, but sounds like the 4 is more than enough performance?
The problem with all these EV’s is it’s not going to be very long before electricity is the most expensive commodity then all EV owners will be crying over their chargers whilst they are waiting for their official charge times to come through, because electricity will be rationed simply because the national grids capacity will be completely surpassed! One may think I’m talking bonkers unfortunately since the crazy ideas of Ed Milliband’s energy policy came to light!
I charge my EV off my home solar for 8-9 months of the year ☀️⚡️👍🏻
Also, off-peak electricity will be cheap for a long time yet
@@davefitzpatrick4841- exactly right 👍🏻😊
The issue isn't getting sufficient supply versus demand.

Shocking.
You take a low estimate (237 miles). then deduct even more off it 🤣
I easily get 3.4 miles per kWh (real world use) in my iX, which is larger and heavier.
@@Un-Apologetic - I would love to know where these £35k iX50’s are 🤔
The cheapest 3 year old one on AutoTrader is £53k.
Porsche quote 380 miles for this Macan, so 300+ is likely very achievable,
Also, my iX achieves the quoted range figure in the summer.
If I had that kind of cash I'd certainly get the Porsche GT all electric touring machine.
A diesel version would make a nice upgrade from my Astra Estate. And with 400Ft lbs of torque . . . I'd have this in my mirrors all the time! 🚔

I'm amazed at all the negativity surrounding this review. I suppose the channel title and the type of followers on here doesn't sit well with electric cars full stop.
I have a Macan 4S on order, coming Dec 6th. I test drove a 4 like this one last weekend, and it's stunning.

Just think what an absolute screaming bell-end Elon Musk is. Should help you make the right decision.
Not a chance. This from an owner of a 2023 Macan GTS, which I love. The EV will likely depreciate like the Taycan.
Great review Sir Pete. Plan and simple I don’t like the styling much I like the gas powered ones styling a lot better. I think the Macan has always been a good looking midsize suv but this looks to boyish to me.
HI petrol Ped, if its possible, can you review the new porsche panamera?
I just don't think we as a country is geared up enough for EV's and you have to look at the fact are they really that green are the factory's run solely on eco sourced power no there not so its a bit of a flop in my opinion as most manufacturers are bringing back the diesel variant and slowing the production of EV's down kind of says it all to me...
Looks lovely, but not sure in that spec/colour...I wonder if it will be a sales 'success' like the Taycan 🙈😳🤔
Maybe it's the colour and those wheels but it is butt ugly. IMHO.🤣
Legacy car manufacturer just don't get, it you need it to be family friendly and actually fit humans in comfortable in them, not trust like a chicken for Christmas need more rear space?🤔
i think you have got it quite wrong on pricing vs. its EV peers. all EV peers are pricy and the macan is completly off the charts. for what it is.
Probably a really good car. But as usual with Porsche, you really need to pay extra for almost everything. Its not even heated seats in the basic version, and private glasses.
Don’t really like the rounded rear of the vehicle, but it could grow on me, it’s just a wee bit too rounded and bulbous, the only issue is though, can I / you get a rear wiper on it, deffo needed in the UK 🤔
Secondly the weight is far too much 🫣
