Britpart had a contract with the UK MoD for a few years in the 90s. It was stripped from them over quality issues, I believe, but they continued claiming to be suppliers to the MoD for years after. It’s not impossible that your “military” gasket was from that stock. I know a few people who are acquainted with the current Britpart MD, and they all said that he’s aware of the issues and is trying to fix it. It is hard to improve a bad name, though very easy to tarnish a good one. I hope he can sort it out.
Hello... I play with old DAVID BROWN Tractors (Diesel ) And old British motorbikes..And I don't trust modern Head gaskets and their design So I always use a gasket cement called WELLSEAL It does not set and is perfect for engines such as the . Head etc I have a 2.5 in an ex/ military 1968 L/Rover..

Never put any sealer on the Tdi MLS gaskets - the black coating is the sealer - if you do put sealer on, you can cause premature gasket failure
