I liked the DX more but would recommend adding a little compression to it. :)

To me it's obvious that the DX captures the high-pitch whistles of your voice, particular in the annunciation of the 's' 'st' and 'x' syllables. For someone with sensitivities to audio highs this is unnerving; however. it may be how you configured the set up.

for recording guided meditation, which would sound better between the 2? I can hear the diff between the 2. the wave sounds fuller therefore more soothing while the dx sounds noisier for a lack of better words, i hope that makes sense.

Thanks for this -- well done. Have you noticed any issue with the DX creating an uneven wave-form, e.g. mostly "above" the mid-line with significantly less below? I found this oddity with the Wave 3 (even returned it for another, which has the same issue). It can be problematic when you do post-processing such as normalize or compress. I do think, from your demo, that the DX has better sound.

Answering my own question, I ended up getting the DX mic,and it does not have the issue with the uneven "top-heavy" wave-forms that I get with the Wave 3 mic. I do think the DX sounds thinner in real life than in the reviews, which is a bit disappointing, but I can deal with it in post-processing with compression and EQ. Of course, Elgato would just say "Well that's why you should also buy the Wave XLR interface, so you can use the Wave Link software to fix it."

As soon as you swapped to the wave 3, a chunk of bass was removed from your voice, and I kinda didn't like it. When not being compared to one another, I'm sure either choice is fine, but I immediately took notice of that.

I'm at entry level for content creating and I'll lean towards the wave 3 but its obvious that the dx has clearer audio. I'd say the highlights of both are: Wave 3 simpler for beginners, plug and play, industry tested/ Wave DX potentially the last mic you'll need in terms of professional sound quality and design but requires additional components that could be expensive. This is a clear cut example of budget vs premium products. You can go simple and get the Wave 3 or spend more if you can or want to and get the DX with all it requires and never need to upgrade again. Only time will tell if the DX is an improvement over the Wave 3 so for now I'm getting the Wave 3 and maybe down the line I'll upgrade.

One mic is a condenser mic (Wave 3), one is a dynamic mic (DX). Thus, they will sound different.

I feel like the DX definitely has slightly clearer sound quality. I’m torn because I have a wave 3 that I do like but I really and thinking about just going full send and getting the wave DX and XLR lol. I feel like there’s a bit more depth to the DX

Dont… once your mic hits discord/games anything you think you hear will be gone. Better to just EQ/compossor than to spend 260$

To be honest there seems to be slight difference between in sound quality. The wave:3 sounds more muffled while the DX comes a lot closer to the Shure mic. I'm curious if you think there are particular use cases each is better for? As it seems to me now to be more a beginner vs intermediate situation

Based on what I've read, the Wave 1 or 3 is better if you have a sound-treated room, if you don't the Wave DX is better due the noise supression btw, you can use the Wave 1/3 if you're starting in this world.
