    Hey everyone! Hope you're doing well. This is a bit different from my usual content, but I've been planning to expand and include hardware analyses on my channel for a while, including a look at the new gen consoles, and both Nvidia and AMD's new video cards that will drop later this year.
    However - you can still expect the same regular amount of gaming focused content as well - including upcoming videos on the PC release of Horizon Zero Dawn, and a look at the recently released Skateboarding game "Skater XL" and how it compares to either Session or SKATE (let me know which one you'd be more interested in seeing!)

    The only problem with the yeti is when you yell, the viewer hears it in a very loud way where it hurts but with the Wave 3, if you yell in it on its default settings, it's way better. It's what I've noticed personally.

    For me, the Yeti is the absolute easiest way for my wife to get a quality stereo recording that pans her voice from her guitar a bit, without any tech skills or ancillary gear (you just need a suitable stand to position it right). If it was just for voice, any decent cardioid USB mic would do; and the Elgato looks jiffy.

    The Elgato Wave 3 sounds a bit 'muddy' and I would like you to turn down the lower mids, but I think the Elgato sounds a tiny bit better. As in it sounds like it captures "more", but I think I like the less bass profile from the blue yeti.

  • @Raelexx
    @Raelexx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Price also factors in too. In my example the Yeticaster bundle was 299 down from 500 but the wave was 299 down from 330. I have wanted a boom arm for a while and the compass looks decent to me.

  • @150booyadragon
    @150booyadragon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the Yeti, it's very slight, but it sounds like one is speaking while slightly constricting their airway. Though, it's very clean.
    The wave3 is fuller and more natural, but
    The background noise is much fuller as well, and is slightly louder.
    I think it's a head long race, and the answer of which someone would want would definitely be what is on sale, or if you're picky about someone hearing your PC fan or if your tone is very slightly off.

      Wave 3 uses an aux or USB cable. You can connect it directly to a mixer using the auxiliary mic input. Increasing the gain will allow you to move further from the mic. It shouldn't need to be in the frame if you prop it up with a boom arm and set up your camera properly.

Not one for knowing much about audio settings and mixers so I think for basic streamers such as myself, this is a safer choice. They are both so close, I dare not say which is better to be honest. I have a blue yeti and wave 3. While the wave 3 does edge out a bit feature wise with the software, the actual source recording sounds better on the blue yeti. I run my microphones through voicemeeter to tailor the sound to my preferences and I just prefer the overall tonality and clarity with the blue yeti compared to el gato wave 3. I'm not a streamer or content creator though, so those extra features don't add any value for me.

    Can we all talk about the fact that the blue yeti over time tends to have a horrific static noise that is audible to people you may be speaking with, it is so loud that you can hear it through their mic. This problem only gets worse over time, I have encountered this myself, and is the reason I am switching to the wave 3. I have heard only good things

    • @DjRavine
      @DjRavine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same problem. It's actually to do with the knobs on the device getting dirty. It's especially apparently when you change the gain. If you plug in headphones and move the gain knob and it crackles, take apart the device and get some WD-40 in there to displace the crap.

    I gotta mention something about the button layout part
    I have a yeti x mic and just like the wave 3 it only has one button on the front, with a very similar way of controlling it.
    pushing it for a short time will mute/unmute the mic and holding it for longer will switch between three modes, the mic gain, the output volume if you have your headset plugged into the bottom of the mic like I do, and the feedback (which I barely ever use but it's nice to have sometimes (and on the back there is a button that will cycle through the 4 settings shown at 2:21)
    so there is a version of the blue yeti microphone that has the same simplistic button layout as the wave 3
    this also eliminates the issue of the gain knob being on the back of the mic if you don't like that
    the downside is that this is only the case with the yeti x, the normal yeti or the yeti pro both have the button layout shown in the video. so if you want the much higher sample rate of the yeti pro (192khz and the yeti pro also has 24bit sound) you're gonna have to deal with the worse of the two button layouts
    it is also worth noting that at least the yeti x can be further controlled with blue's own "advanced audio software" (that's what they call it on their website) called Blue VO!CE (the program you download is called sherpa, and within it is an option called "enable Blue VO!CE"). this software allows you to adjust any settings you can adjust with the mic's knobs through the software, as well as giving you additional options for voice equalization, a high-pass filter, noise reduction and a few more that frankly speaking I don't know enough about audio to know what they do)
    however, this software is not advertised for the standart yeti or yeti pro microphones, making me believe that they may not work with the software, but I don't know for sure as I only own a yeti x.
    not trying to attack your credibility here, the things I mentioned are extremely easy to miss so I don't blame you, I simply wanted to set the record straight. still a very nice video

  • @enzotriolo_

    I'd really like to have some software tool, like the Wave has, for Blue Yeti.
    The X version has a lot of tweaks with Logitech G Hub or Blue Companion app via Blue Voice. The regular Yeti does not.
    There's an alternative for all the other microphones, made by Voicemeter, but imho is clunky to use with virtual cables inputs and so on.

    Is the Elgato stereo capable and is there a Pro version with XLR cabling available ? When I first purchased a USB Blue Yeti I was so blown away that I contacted Blue and asked if there was an interface that would allow it to be used with XLR cables and phantom power. The person I was talking to said there wasn't an interface available but I should wait for a few months to see what new products they were coming out with. Around 4 or 5 months later he emailed me and told me about a new product, the Blue Yeti Pro, that was going to be released in 3 weeks. I ended up buying first one and then a second Pro unit and have never been disappointed with their performance. I even sold my old USB Yeti to a friend who is still using it to this day and loves it. I and my friend have never had any problems with the mute switch so think this is an use issue. Since then I've purchased multiple other Blue microphone products and have recommended them to fellow recording engineers for use in professional recording situations.

      I have my elgato set to run through my GOXLR - but i do not think there's an actual version that supports XLR cabling. I think I have it running through an aux cable.

    i wouldn't go with any of these. on Amazon theres a mic called the Uhuru UM-900 which is $55. In my opinion it sounds better then both of these. it records at 24 bit, 192000 Hz. It sounds really clean

    I also use the Yeti Blue and the mute button isnt really working for me as well (mic is just 2 years old). In comparison with the Wave I think the Blue sounds better without the help of an audio interface. I bought it for just 90€ and if the button doesnt stop working I see myself using this mic for at least 3 more years.

    I’m looking to upgrade from a yeti nano as I’m having trouble with it being able to pick up my voice enough without having to turn up the gain to a point that it makes me sound worse, so I’m just having a bit of trouble

    hey bro. Is it just your voice, or do both mics have a fair level of sibilance?

    What's your arm boom and shock mount set-up? I found plenty of them but I would like one that would work with a blue yeti. Thanks!

    So I have a yeti already, is it worth me buying a Elgato wave 3 or just save up for a XLR mic/GOXLR for streaming
