We have CX5 GT (Canada) and CX30 GS , CX30 has better driving dynamics , gets to speed quicker , some features and cabin elements are nicely updated in CX30 , CX5 has higher sitting position. very comfortable and amazingly quiet and obviously great handling and all that. CX30 cons are small gas tank, small cabin , Passenger seat is very low. All Mazda I think have one common cons and it is 6 speed transmission, it is smooth and relatively quick however it miss at least 2 gears . overall both are great purchase in their segment. Mazda products are absolutely premium and are not in the segment of Hondas or Toyotas .

I have a 2020 CX-30 with about 89,000 miles on it. Aside from the usual oil, filter, and tire rotations, I've had no other expenses, and there's never been a single problem with it. I get about 34 mpg and do mostly highway driving. I had previously been a Honda person, but Mazda was one of the few automakers that had not gone to the CVT. Mine is the front wheel drive (I have no need for all-wheel), the "Select" model. The performance is fantastic, and I've never been in a situation where it disappointed me. If I were to buy a new one, I might move up to the CX-5, although I don't need anything larger. Don’t be fooled by the looks. CX-30 is a way smaller than CX-5. You will feel this even more once you are inside. I’m telling this by experience. It is a very capable and high build quality car, though. CX-30 is designed for a different market segment - singles and couples. And this segment loves this car and will give 5/5 in reviews. Hence, don’t be fooled by the reviews as they don’t tell which market segment rated that. So, if you try to fit in more than two people in this CX-30, don’t bother, just move on to CX-5 or newer (and expensive 😉) CX-60.

The Turbo is worth it if you like to stomp on it once in a while and have passing power. I'm a motorcycle guy and the turbo was a must for me when getting a CX5. It is honestly one of the most fun cars I've driven compared to my old Taurus, focus, and jeep wranglers. Tbf its not a sports car, but it's definitely a fun little family vehicle that isn't a minivan.
Both are amazing cars, but different segments. It's kind of obvious the CX-5 excels in most of things because it costs additional $5k. So in the same way you chose one segment or the other, you would chose the cx30 or the cx5. If you have enough money and your needs are bigger then cx5 is the choice.
I'll consider a Mazda for my next car since I enjoy driving and I refuse to consider anything with a CVT or dual clutch...only problem is my 4Runner will probably outlive me, so it's hard to justify. If they come out with a hybrid about the same price and gets 45 mph sign me up.
Bose sucks Don't really care for your point evaluations, they're a little ridiculous. They are BOTH Great SUVs! Don't need a turbo, not racing anymore! Both Mazdas are Beautiful, Mazda knows how to make some Beautiful vehicles!
I drove the CX-30 and was a little bothered by how much the view was like out the rear/side windows. It’s probably fine for a casual commuter, but if you drive in a traffic that is at all hectic it might start to feel claustrophobic
I tested both Mazda 3 and CX-30. If you don't have kids and don't need a big trunk, the Mazda 3 is more fun to drive, cheaper, with better fuel economy. In the end I got the CX-30 because I need to be able to bring the family along on vacation from time to time.
CX-5 is a Japanese and not a German Vehicle. 12.58mins in the video, it was mentioned to be a German vehicle. That clarified it’s CX-5 for me over its smaller sibling 😊
Mazda needs to up their game on the infotainment displays, they are looking outdated now and so much smaller compared to other cars not to mention out of reach! I wish they would do at least a 13+ inch display instead of a little rectangle screen.
What do you need a huge screen for? The "little screen" is already enough to simultaneous display 2 apps with Android auto. Anyway, keep your eyes on the road ;-)
More like Mazda 3 and CX-30. I tested both. The Mazda 3 is the better car, but if you have a family and/or need a usable trunk then the CX-30 is better. I got the CX-30 for those reasons.
How many times after 10 years do I have to hear about Mazda “moving upmarket”?? Wouldn’t upmarket include modern powertrains with actual hybrids and modern infotechs with touchscreens? Stop drinking their koolaid
"Modern" power trains as in - most car brands now have shoddy CVTs? These Mazdas still some of the only brands that have naturally aspirated 4cyl. real geared autos..much more reliable and last much longer than all the other CVT junk out there...

That's clearly not true. I'm 6 foot and I own a 2021 Mazda 3 hatchback and I'm very comfortable in it. If I can fit in the 3, why would my head touch the roof in the CX-30?
Sorry, many of the features you consider advantages, or disadvantages, are a matter of taste or frivolourls. Examples include the cladding on the CX- 30. and the absence of towing and seating ventilation. We chose our CX-30 precisely because of the contrasted cladding, which we found far more attractive. Our CX-30 is the 2023 model and we do have folding mirrors and HUD display as well as many of the other options on the CX -5. I should note rgat we are in Europe, Belgium to be precise. As for the towing and seating ventilation, we do not need or want either of these features. So it is really a question of personal preference and taste.

Which one is better cx 5 select cx preferred ? It’s $1300 different but idk if it’s worth it.
The Preferred CX 5 has the power lift gate; power moon roof; heated, power adjusted front seats.
Bose sucks
Don't really care for your point evaluations, they're a little ridiculous.
They are BOTH Great SUVs!
Don't need a turbo, not racing anymore! Both Mazdas are Beautiful, Mazda knows how to make some Beautiful vehicles!
why is 1in bigger wheels and no body cladding better?
Classier
The deciding factor you overlooked is Country if Manufacture. CX-5 is made in Japan. The CX-30 is made in MEXICO.
I pick cx5 cuz its made in Japan hehe just my likes tho
I dont understand the need for a heating side mirrors
When they fog up in humid weather or get covered in ice. I don't have it and it's a must on my vehicle. I live in a condo and no garage.
Over here in Canada, heated side mirrors are important to melt the ice after a freezing rain storm
I’m trading in my BMW X5 sport for a Mazda CX 30
I drove the CX-30 and was a little bothered by how much the view was like out the rear/side windows. It’s probably fine for a casual commuter, but if you drive in a traffic that is at all hectic it might start to feel claustrophobic
Cx 30 turbo with 250hp for me
I believe the CX5 still uses the original platform i.e. suspension etc. To me, this is a downfall and hopefully it be will improved.
CX-5 vs. CX-50. The comparison would have been more interesting...
We have that one too!
Why CX-30 instead of CX-50?
We have a comparison with CX-50 as well on the channel 👍
mazda have to get in the hybrid game, and i be considering one.
In Europe, the CX-30 is a Mild-hybrid.
I would have loved to see a CX30 v Mazda3 Hatch comparison.
What do you want to know? We have both along with a CX5 and CX 50.
We said it *reminds* us of a German vehicle
Donuts...
Of course Americans would use everything to measure something except the Metric System 😂
Cx30 Mexico
Cx5 Japanese
No comparability
Bring back the 6 or something like it. No SVU suburban male emasculator.
Mazda design language is getting stale TBH. But I like the smaller size of the CX-30
Stale compared to what? That’s their design, should it look more like a Ford or Kia?
When I had clicked I thought it was VS CX-50, but when I saw it was a cx-30 I knew it would be a complete wash!
We have done the CX-5 vs CX-50 as well, of you're interested!
30 got stomped 😂
lol "upmarket"
pointless comparision cx3 vs cx30 is what u should compare
The CX-3 is no longer on sale
More like Mazda 3 and CX-30.
I tested both. The Mazda 3 is the better car, but if you have a family and/or need a usable trunk then the CX-30 is better.
I got the CX-30 for those reasons.
How many times after 10 years do I have to hear about Mazda “moving upmarket”?? Wouldn’t upmarket include modern powertrains with actual hybrids and modern infotechs with touchscreens? Stop drinking their koolaid
Just as you’ve been drinking Toyota’s for years
"Modern" power trains as in - most car brands now have shoddy CVTs? These Mazdas still some of the only brands that have naturally aspirated 4cyl. real geared autos..much more reliable and last much longer than all the other CVT junk out there...
@@jm4100 yep, and hybrids are not so great either!
The CX 5 is the X1 and the 30 is the X2. Ofc the 5 will win 😂 that’s why the X2 didn’t sell well either surprised the 30 does thkugh
The cx5 is the size of an X3, while the CX30 is the size of an X1
@@normanli7085 no it’s not ahaha. Read the dimensions. The CX five is the X1 which is also the same size as the Volvo, XC 40
Hey car youtubers, you're allowed to put your seatbelt on before you start your car. I feel like none of you are aware of this.
I feel like if you’re poor asf and that OFs money ain’t dropping or your boo won’t buy you a Bimmer these are good cars. And can you tell us about seat width and comfort??? Y’all need to cater to us phat booty chocolate queens too fam!!!!
if you are over 6 feet tall then your head will touch the roof of cx-30 in the driver seat, thats with the seat all the way down, dont even bother considering it, i have no idea what they were thinking of selling that vehicle in US market, maybe it works in Japan but not here.
Then why does the Kona, Kicks, Venue, Soul, HrV, Corolla Cross, and Taos exist then 🤔
So I am 6’3 and I fit comfortably in the driver seat and my head doesn’t touch the roof. I am in Canada but I would assume the U.S.A. Is the same.
@krom9897 you probably 5'11 Canadians are weird
That's simply not true...
With the seat all the way down, you'd need to be at least 7 feet to touch the roof of cx-30.
So it is really a question of personal preference and taste.
wow thanks for making this video it’s so helpful!!!!
Cx30 is more aerodynamic
I have a cx5 and my sister has a cx30
Thanks for that. Had been keeping me awake at night wondering what you drove.
@@whatthe6532 you're welcome
Can you type a location with the screen for the gps or have to use the knob?
