Great job. You're a MB door panels restorer pro.

Everything looks GREAT. I find your methods extremely interesting to fascinating. An idea for that "bump" in the vinyl: Concentrated heat (but not too much!).you will want to use an IR thermometer on it while heating it up. Then, while still hot, clamp something smooth and flat right on top of it. Metal of some sort might be a good idea, as it will absorb the heat more quickly than say... wood. That really should take care of it.

You know the people at Mercedes and BMW freaked out about being asked to put drink holders in their cars. You don't take a drink in your car when on the Autobahn at 150 mph. When they finally acquiesced and put them in they were so flimsy they broke about the 1st time you used them. I still have bits and pieces in my w210. It was in the center console right in front of the arm rest. Now I have a hole in there and the lid won't stay closed. I can just push my sport drink bottle down in it.
Did you have any trouble drilling through that carpet padding?

No. I just went easy with the dremel tool. Worked well.

You could have put blind screw clips like what speakers use

So the padding won’t twist up like the old foam.

Agree, but the dremel tool did a good job of cutting through the foam.
