Prettiest truck Mack ever made was the Superliner model. Long square hood, and clean lines all the way back, and it was still a Mack! Stayed steady on its daily schedule.👍
The only truck I might agree with is the Mack, in 1978 the Superliner was a good truck. The E9 V8 and the inline 6 were both good engines, and the 6 had better fuel mileage than most other's.
I have a 76 IH 1600 loadstar. Not a giant but a great fun truck to drive around. Has a dump bed with removable wood sides. Used back in the day to deliver sand for a local lumber yard. It has about 56k original miles. I believe I am the 3rd owner
My Favorite COE was a 1968 Peterbuilt with a Big Cam 400 Cummins 13 speed Eaton Fuller . It was a runner that would pull anything that was hooked behind it.
Aaargggg!!!! I drove a '73 DM 800SX for eyears. it was the worst truck I ever drove. Uncomfortable, broken camel back springs, twisted drive lines, broken axles and always a 5 gallon can of oil you had to check oil every couple of hours. In 1976 I was able to bump back to a '70 R 600, what a pleasure to drive. Arguably the worst truck Mack ever built.
My first new truck was a 1965 "H-Model" Ford Cab Over Twin Screw Integeral Sleeper 250 Cummins 10 spd. My second new truck was a 1970 Brockway with a 12-V-71 Detroit & 125-13 spd twin screw. My third was a 1982 Kenworth W-900 A Double wide sleeper (They were nick-named "Missouri Coups") with a Catepillar 3408 V-8 450 Hp 15 spd Double over-drive trans with opposing magnets on both sides of the flywheel instead of a "Jake Brake" (Because none made for the V-8 Cat motor) to slow the truck down. My fourth was a 1989 Gmc General 440 Silver Detroit 9 spd. Twin Screw and my last 5 trucks were all Western Stars 3406-E all pulled 38 ft frameless dump trailers.
Mr. Henderson belonged to the church I went to in Hinsdale Illinois. That covenant church sponsored Boy Scout Troop in Hinsdale. He had his truck Company build a two wheel trailer to haul our equipment to camp out's during the years I belonged to Troop 8. Even as a kid I could recognize that it was a really well built, strong vehicle. At 85 now I understand that Troop 8 has gone defunct but do understand that the trailer, I'd suppose still containing some equipment, still resides in a separate garage at the church. Oh, back a few years ago I went to the 100th anniversary of the 8th BSA troop in Illinois. Jim Martin - now long here in Wisconsin.
I know where a few of these old trucks are sitting around. The Mac ones especially. I always think of BJ & The Bear TV show with cabovers. With the newer requirements on the newer bridge people cutting the older ones back on the road and not have to worry about certain requirements.
They should bring them all back before the older trucks from the first truck made back in the day when trucks were first made because if it was not for them trucking would not be what it is today
The GMC Astro was the worst truck ever made. I bought a new 1971 and by one year later it put me in a bankruptcy court. I lost my ass trying to get that thing to stay on the road for more than one week at a time. I swore I would never buy another GM product again. And I have not.
That was also said by Ford owners. The attorney general of the state of Kansas said the Ford diesel truck was the single largest product failure in the state’s history.
Which one is your favourite?
Gmc ASTRO
Gmc ASTRO
Diamond T 990
Louisville FORD

Diamond T 990 iis my pick for a favorite and I believe they still made an extended cab for a sleeper.
A 1975 W900A with a 425 cat & 13 speed road ranger. She was red & black with twin chrome stacks & her name was Charlene. Man I miss that truck.

Any KW, Pete, Freightliner with a Cat 3408👍
Kenworth & Peterbilt, Freightliner, GMC Detroit Diesels 12v71TA, 8v92TA,
Nobody mentioned a Mack U model . when I was switched from a R to a U I almost fell getting out of the cab!
To me the old Mack is number 1 but it's got to have the Bulldog on the hood.

Nice, but where does the coveted 1969-72 Chevrolet Bruin 900 come in? 12V Detroit long hood.
They should bring them all back before the older trucks from the first truck made back in the day when trucks were first made because if it was not for them trucking would not be what it is today
1970s had NO Powerful engines compared to the 80s
Chevy c60 1972 427 engine. First thing I was allowed to drive
I'm wondering why you never mentioned the G model Mack one of the rarest of all the cab overs ever made way ahead of their time.
For Local Work ..... Maybe
International 4070.
Those shaky pictures are terrible. Whomever came up with that idea should be flogged.
I didn’t do it….
Me either! I think Mike did it
Dam the first truck that came up Dad had a white truck just like that 😅

G m c Detroit diesels we’re a poor man’s diesel, it will keep you poor
That's allll you
Maybe it was your poor business sense probably spent more time in the truck stops than on the road working astro was a great truck 🇺🇸

I know as a driver the Astro was not at all a desirable truck.
Any Hayes
