I was on bench for 6 months. Numerous times, I called RMG. Not even single time, they answered me. I found a project by myself and got allocation. RMG people are burden on Company.
My senior suggested me this Indicator : You'll get to know your project is going to be over based on timelines or when handful of people start leaving the project initially and gradually more and more of them leave . Step : * When this happens you need to do minimal work, start preparing for outside and update your job profiles on different portals. If you get a new good project internally it's a bonus. * Total 3 months of time, 1 month of relieving from project and 2 months of pool time is good enough to crack interviews
Rightly said about RMG's - Most of the RMG's lack that human touch. On the other note if any of the RMG is reading this comment then I Would request them to be showing some Humanness towards that employee who is already going through a tough phase than behaving arrogantly.

RMG doesn't know difference between java and JavaScript. A java backend developer was asked to join UI Project to work in JavaScript with the astonishing logic by RMG that java and JavaScript are similar because both have common terms java. 😅

Most executives lack an end-to-end view of what's happening with resources, and nobody in the organization has an understanding of the current stage an employee is at in their career. Typically, in organizations, Sales, Delivery, HR, and Resource Management work in silos, and they don't communicate with each other about their challenges.
I am also part of the layoff due to no projects.... I dont feel IT jobs are secure nowadays. Everywhere layoffs, recession, No projects, HR forcing employees to resign by themselves. Dono when these things are going to sort
I have faced the similar situation My project got over without any intimation from client or company( I got to know when i was unable to login on monday and i thought it could be due to password failure). I didn't get any suggestion/advice or guidance from company or RMG regarding the project or bench policies and I continuously reaching out to L& D teams, RMG teams and updating them regarding reskilling certification and upskilling. When nothing worked i tried reaching out to upper management. I didnt get much positive response and all of a sudden they asked me to resign and let me know. I was looking out for opportunities during bench period but due to tough market condition. I didnt land even in interview.
Same case with my friend... She was with that company for approx 2 years. Company first released SHOW CAUSE NOTICE and then REMOVED her ACCESS ...then blem her to ABSCOND from the job. She had tried all her way to reach out to HR and the manager but no luck... Then one day HR said we can resume your access if you are ready to leave the company. She agreed to them and left the company. She was in a very well known IT company and was approached for the non relevant skills.
Let me explain the other side of the issue. I am working in an IT company taking care of Training requirements for teams. We work closely with RMG teams. We understand the upcoming skill requirements and try to educate teams to upskill themselves when they are in current project itself. However almost 90% of the members whenever approached they are reluctant to upskill when they are working in a project with a skill that is not going to be in the market in next 1 year or 2. After project gets over even for the first few days they dont show much interest. But when loss of pay period starts they panic and blame the world around. IT is not like Govt job. We have to continuously run (upskill and move roles). Once you are complacent and find a role of comfort, it means your job and future is at risk. With age, people themselves decide that they cannot learn. We cannot have SHOES differently sized and expecting FOOT to adjust. Its SHOES that has to be adjusted to fit the FOOT. If a company doesnt have a job/project in the market which is an outdated skill, how long they can keep the person?
So you expect a person who is overworked to upskill? Most service sector overworks their people. Just admit it that IT service sector companies are like mafia that exist because of labour and immigration laws.
As you work with training requirements for employees can you say what technology trainings will be more in coming years , like what tech roles have more demand
Good talk. 👍🏻There’s a flipside to this. If RMG team is honest and truthful, if relevant project is available, then good, if not available, then the RMG POC is a soft target 🎯 if he/she is not going above and beyond to help the technical resource to get a project for the person asap.
I'm working in Wipro. I have seen this kind of incident in our project, one of my colleague is not able to deliver the activities on time and client is not happy with him and gave negative feedback then immediately he was placed on bench (Wipro bench period is 90 days) during the bench period internally RMG team assisted him to schedule for interviews and don't know what happened later, after 90 days he left Wipro.
RMG only thinks to fill position. They will not think about employees skill set or their experience.I left TCS with in 5 months after joining, because of this kind of issues.

Similar situation with my RMG team, i'm b/w projects awaiting to be assigned to a suitable fitment one. Given my two decades of exp and with the company for more than 4+ yrs, this is unfortunate and being used as a strategy also to let go experienced high parity resources.
Project team,RMG and Bench work in silos. It is important network within outside the organization. Beware of contract renewal. If your companies loses a project/account everyone comes to bench. You will only get 60 days to get into another project. Network-Update your resume-Attend as many interviews. Analogy 1 "You could be Ravichandran Ashwin still you can end up in Bench"..
In 2011 i went as a fresher to RMG they did not care about my allocation to project wasted some months joined a support project with a reference and again 2014 i got release looking for a dev role again the same happend but my previous manager referred me to his contacts and i got a better role .Now i have upskilled in cloud data engineering and databricks pyspark and looking for suitable projects from end of june not sure what will be the outcome
makes sense, the current scenario with TA, TM, RM is the same across companies, even though the skillset DB and matrix is more or less UpToDate. RMG team is not bothered about employees, they don't care whether you get a project or not as every year companies go on a hiring spree and recruit lot of freshers. The onus ultimate just lies on employees to fend for themselves, RMG team will only reach out to employees and try to get them into project if there is pressure from management.

This is the real situation in service based company. I saw people with different skill set allocated in another skill set projet and then they are not able to perform as there skills are different and huge pressure of timeline. Next is escalations and then bench and over either you should resign or ready for another same loop.
There are some onshore managers who pester client to increase billing even after one or two revisions, forcing client mangers to raise the same to upper layers . Top management simply put the foot down and get replacements from another vendor .
How about project release? If an employee asks for it and then Project manager doesn't agrees and then HR also says the same, finally asks an employee to pay 3months notice pay to the company or asks to be on LOP for 3 months and then get exit papers from company. Pls answer this

I would like to disagree here. The RMG/HR is trying to help me and forwarding my resume to hiring managers but they managers are not even bothering to take interview. They are citing reasons like "You are a support person and we want only people experienced in development". Even though I have self learned all the necessary technologies and built applications on my own in my local machine. I have prepared for the interviews and I am still preparing but the managers are refusing to take interview. I think they want to go for external hire so that they can take bribe. It is very simple to understand.
I have observed that RMG people wear pink colour shirts mostly....possibly indicating giving the pink slip non verbally . By the way you also wore pink jersey in this video. Any coincidence?
Problem is now huge expectations from client as well project teams as they have huge numbers to pick and choose. RMG gives opportunity but more rejections in client interviews
Government can never succeed in such initiatives because Government itself is bystander, they stand with mouth not with money and actions. Employment cost to company, Government collects advance tax from these companies, but doesn't cover or support company while loss or employees during such period. So never happening

i had good experience with them. I had gone through 8 interviews on 8th i was seletec they were very patient with me, I got more than 2 months o time to preparation and all.
Come to USA and see how companies layoff employees. In India its far better situation. Atleast TCS tries to allocate candidates somehow and push candidates to projects. I have worked in TCS for 11yrs , I know how the company works.

They just don't care. Now a days it doesn't matter how best you worked how much profit you contributed, how much you served . They create a toxic environment and a bitter situation and make sure you leave that organization in disgust !
1:50 What you are calling common sense is ILLEGAL. The companies cannot just fire a person easily in India. If they officially tell the person to leave and not force resign there are so many legal hurdles. The company does not want to get into all that thats why they do it. I had horrible experience with Rmg while I was in the same organisation. They are terribly rude, misbehaving people who treat employees as their slaves. Rmg reporting has been the worst experience of my job life. A lot of times, although I got an opportunity as per my skill set but they refused to deploy me to that project. So I had to escalate to the highest level HR quite a few times. They are not only incapable of grooming anyone but also highly non cooperative and rude people
Companies are resorting to unethical / illegal practices also. Something like using fake POSH complaints and threatening to resign etc. to escape notice period salary. This is happening in Fortune 100 sized companies not smaller ones. 😮😮 Bad practices
If he is getting below 10LPA fine but he will defently get above 15LPA then he need to learn very speed and sorry in tcs still more members of bench staying in bench 8 months to one year with salary
Bharatiya companies need to step up their game. They pay peanuts, work quality and processes are usually poor, HR who are basically below passing marks students of the class act like gods and then the horrible work hours. Bharatiya tech CEOs give long gyans on social media becoming billionaires by the day while exploiting their workers on slave salaries.
Don’t forget “Infosys” this company is even lacking talented managers who don’t understand the skill set and the candidate capacity to full fill the SOW’s.
One the company did give chance it is investment management company, they took all my leads and later they had mou from back but they didn't pay , when i asked for that they assignated my character, they sexually harassed me.

When we are in pool, its very difficuilt to clear the interviews samething happened to me. Finally HR reached me to submit resignition..

i had good experience with them. I had gone through 8 interviews on 8th i was seletec they were very patient with me, I got more than 2 months o time to preparation and all.

Come to USA and see how companies layoff employees. In India its far better situation. Atleast TCS tries to allocate candidates somehow and push candidates to projects. I have worked in TCS for 11yrs , I know how the company works.
If you are Innocent nice people, then corporate world is not for you. They will play with you how badly they forced me to resign the job

Sir, in some reality, if a candidate want to remove from company became of not having projects in pipeline, RMG will scheduled fake client interview and set tough interview to get exit. With this justification HR will also to leave😢

Can we refuse to resign and tell them to fire us and collect severance / notice period payments ? what will be the best strategy apart from giving maximum possible interviews everywhere and updating and upgrading your skills ?
India doesn't have a proper social security unlike western countries...Like in manufacturing concerns... You can try severance pay strategy...
Bench policy is based on salary +experience of that person and not fixed lenth

For ex if you are 2 year experienced and your package is 20 lakhs .Then your bench stay will be 2 weeks or a month and not 90 days
They just don't care. Now a days it doesn't matter how best you worked how much profit you contributed, how much you served . They create a toxic environment and a bitter situation and make sure you leave that organization in disgust !
1:50 What you are calling common sense is ILLEGAL. The companies cannot just fire a person easily in India. If they officially tell the person to leave and not force resign there are so many legal hurdles. The company does not want to get into all that thats why they do it. With so much experience in the IT industry I would have thought @Career Talk will know why companies do what they do.
I had horrible experience with Rmg while I was in the same organisation. They are terribly rude, misbehaving people who treat employees as their slaves. Rmg reporting has been the worst experience of my job life. A lot of times, although I got an opportunity as per my skill set but they refused to deploy me to that project. So I had to escalate to the highest level HR quite a few times. They are not only incapable of grooming anyone but also highly non cooperative and rude people
The interviews are never made to take you in the project while being on bench

RMG is not willing to share any information, the word they will say 'we will let you know' . Most of the time RMG's will be in other locations.
No.. these companies ask you to go even if they have projects ... they will not allow you to go to any project that aligns with your skillsets
99℅ of private company CEOs, ask the bench pool employees to leave when the market is not good.
These RMG who dont do any work get paid .while the people working are harrased. Need to replace RMG With Systems capable of assigning projects

RMG doesn't give out any information even if employees are proactive. They don't have time and are always in meetings.
Companies are resorting to unethical / illegal practices also. Something like using fake POSH complaints and threatening to resign etc. to escape notice period salary. This is happening in Fortune 100 sized companies not smaller ones. 😮😮

If he is getting below 10LPA fine but he will defently get above 15LPA then he need to learn very speed and sorry in tcs still more members of bench staying in bench 8 months to one year with salary

Bharatiya companies need to step up their game. They pay peanuts, work quality and processes are usually poor, HR who are basically below passing marks students of the class act like gods and then the horrible work hours.
Bharatiya tech CEOs give long gyans on social media becoming billionaires by the day while exploiting their workers on slave salaries.

One the company did give chance it is investment management company, they took all my leads and later they had mou from back but they didn't pay , when i asked for that they assignated my character, they sexually harassed me.

RMG just bother to make ppl billable . they all between the line msgs to make u take anything i feel with AI RMG dept can be automated with very less human interventions
