Thanks for posting this. As a 65 yr old woman, who's 5'5", seat height has been my biggest concern in selecting an Ebike. In my younger years I rode motorcycles, and the fact that I couldn't put both feet firmly on the ground was always troubling to me, especially in city traffic with a lot of stop lights. I needed to see this visual, kudos to your wife for helping us out.
@@jhartmggc There is a video of a little person trying to get a Rad mini step thru and even that bike was too tall for him, I believe they had to make some modifications to the bike so he could safely sit and ride it.
This is what I like about the videos by you Bryan…you have older, younger, short & tall people on different bikes so individuals can get an idea if a bike shop is not nearby to try out different bikes. Great job Mrs. Citizen!!!!!
I am 42 years old 5'3 and haven't ridden a bike since I was in my mid-twenties. I bought a regular bike and kept falling off though it was just too heavy. watching your wife now I am thinking It was too tall Thank you for a more relatable perspective for me.
Thank you for this video! I am your wife’s height and I just purchased the Luckeep x1 pro and became concern with the height. After watching this, I am confident I will enjoy the bike. Yes, I am an athletic female.
Thanks for making this video. As a woman who's 5' on a good day this, at least, gives me an idea of the sizing and frame styles of different brands/models. What people don't consider, in terms of being a shorter rider, is also the reach. Not only can seat height and standover height be an issue, but you don't want to be constantly reaching further for the handlebars. I also realized as I got older, that I don't feel the need to "look cool" on mountain bike styled bikes with straight handlebars, anymore. I had bought myself a cruiser style ebike (which is too big for me) and found out that I really like the more upright riding of the swept back cruiser bars. If ebike companies would consider installing more gull-style handlebars or have handlebar configurations that can be adjusted to come more towards the rider, I think you'd also see more diversity of people (not only shorter people) consider or get into ebikes.
Thanks for the great video. Just a note, a 26X4 fat tire Ebike handles better at higher speeds and smooths out the bumps a little more. (I have had both) Your wife said her favorite is the Aventon Aventure 2 step through. It also has a torque sensor. We just ordered one for my wife today!
Great Video! I’m 5’2”, 72 years old with chronic joint pain. I own a Cyrusher Kommoda and a Lectric Lite. For comfort and long rides, I love my Kommoda the best, but for tooling around a campground, Quick trips, ease of transport, I absolutely love my Lectric Lite! The smaller 350 motor, 1 gear and smaller battery doesn’t phase me at all. I did put a front shock on the Lectric and a great suspension seat post with a Cloud 9 seat. I also added “David Brand New’s” Turtle Neck stem and his BMX handlebars and now the Lectric is my favorite! The BMX bars put them closer to me, for more comfort and better control. I like the narrow tires (2.5”) because the bike is lighter and I can control it better than my Kommoda. Even with the added weight of my changes, I can still lift it up onto my bike rack or fold it up to put in my car. I love both bikes! Thank you, Mr. Citizen, for helping me along the way to finding which eBike was best foe me. Before I bought the Kommoda, I remember it was your dad’s favorite when he tested a lot of your bikes. His decision swayed me towards the Kommoda! Thanks, Dad!
Great video👍very educational. Mrs.K is 5'4" also and has the 20" Cyrusher Ovia w/4" tires. She loves it and is the perfect size. I think the Ocelot Pro and the Kommoda were the perfect fit for Mrs.Citizen.
Exactly what I was wanting to see. I've been biking for years but age has caught up with me. I'm a shorter rider so it's imperative that I be able to comfortably get my feet on the ground when stopping cuz I live in a hilly town with stop and go traffic. Thank you!!
Quietly as it's kept, most of us would probably agree with you. (Smile) No disrespect to CitizenCycle, but she's way more visually appealing. Just my opinion. (Smile) That said, CitizenCycle isn't too hard on the eyes either. LOL! Stay safe and healthy. Peace
I like how you explained your wifes preferences for riding low and having quick/good stability because those are my important considerations too! I just ordered a Lectric XP 3.0 Step Thru model and I can't wait to get it (hopefully tomorrow)!!
Amen, I like my feet planted firmly when I come to a stop, and it's more important to me than full leg extension. I do love to pedal and with the help of the motor there's just no need to worry about leg extension, as I'm out just to enjoy the ride and the breeze. That says something for the Aventon, if Mrs Citizen likes it better than the Magicycle.
Useful video Citizen. I had the same problem with 2 models of Ebikes I tried. When manufacturers claim that their ebikes are suitable for riders from i.e. 5'5 and up, in most cases it isn't true. They should go by leg inseam size and NOT the overall height of the rider. Two people can have the same height, but one can have longer legs and the other a longer torso. If one wants good control of their bike, they should NOT be riding a bike (especially a heavy ebike) if they can't plant their feet firmly on the ground when completely stopped. Thanks.
This. I'm 5'4" but long waisted. My inseam ranges from 28/29". My husband is built the same but is 6'1" with a 31" inseam so many bikes are uncomfortable for him also.
Thank you for this video. It is probably one of the most useful ones for me as I am looking at getting my first ebike. I am a disabled Veteran and also a long hauler (COVID lungs) and need something to get me out exercising. I'm 55 years young so stable is what I need and between the Aventon Aventure 2 and the Cyrusher Kommoda I may have found the ebikes to look at. So thank you for the video and thinking outside the box on things buyers need to think about other than speed and hill climbing.
My son has the Wired Cruiser and even though I am 5 10, I have short legs and the high bottom bracket caused a problem for me. What really helped was a setback seatpost that gives me a couple extra inches of leg extension to pedal with the seat closer to the ground, so I can at least reach the street with my tippytoes when i am sitting on the bike. It also makes the pedaling position more like the Townie bikes, which is more comfortable for me.
My wife is sized similar to yours and I’m almost 6’ 4”. When researching e-bikes 2 years ago I had the same concerns for my wife and the frame size on the typical $1,000 to $1500 bikes. I ended up buying her a Lectric Step-thru, and she LOVES it. I was impressed enough with the quality to purchase the XP 2.0 a few months later. So far, so good.
I already knew the 20' bikes were going to be easy to ride. I was surprised by how small the Kommoda is, though, it looks big without a frame of reference. I'm 5'10" but I still prefer a 20x4" fat tire ebike, feels just right for me.
You owe her a really nice night out, She's adorable, made the video, being 5'8" I'm thinking of upgrading my ride (himiway cruiser" to something smaller. great video
Thank you! This is exactly the scenario with my wife who is the same height as your lady. 30” seems to be the magic seat height number. I have the Fucare which is too high for her but perfect for myself. Thanks again.
Another great video. The last bike tested look like the seat could've been lowered more. The Aventon ride I thought was going to be a disaster because the kickstand was still down when she rolled off. 😲My wife is 5-6 and I got her the Rattan step through and on her first ride she made some of the same take off sounds as your wife.🤣Thanks for sharing. 🤙🏽
Good subject. The thing about a step through frame is you just have to teach yourself to slide off the seat forward when you come to a stop. It's a learning curve if you're not used to it after years of riding a standard frame. At least it is for me nowadays that I can't swing my leg over a full size ebike anymore
Very nice! I'm 5'7 I needed this size comparison. My inseam is 29 inches with hiking boots on. Plus my weight on rear suspension bikes should push it down a couple inches.
She liked the Magicycle, was that the Ocelot? I would like a Magicycle Deer Mini, similar to the Ocelot Pro but full suspension. It was also interesting that she liked the Aventon Aventure even though it's 26".
You should have your Wife try the Wired bikes set with c14=0. Smoothest takeoff of any setting and still have full power available. It’s a more gentle pull than the lower power settings.
It's interesting. As a bicycle rider, I never really worried about my feet being flat on the ground at a stop. I think I naturally popped forward off the seat and stood, or one footed it if I stayed on the seat. As an ebike rider, I find myself wanting to stay on the seat, like your girlfriend does. Interesting that the Aventure was her fave coz that's not a small bike. But I noticed how low the seat went compared to others. Very low. (I'm 6'4" by the way!! Haha)
I'm 5'8 and I don't even try to be flat foot at the proper riding height with the bike being straight up on 26x4 fat tires. I always lean it slightly so that one foot is planted firmly on the ground and then use it to push off with when I can get moving again.
Great Video! I am also a influencer and bikes are starting to back up coming in. I love your channel! You do such a good job on your channel. I am suppose to be getting a juiced 26 inch fat tire in a couple of weeks. You mentioned that you don’t partner with them and when I do the review I will give you a shout out on my channel.
Good to know! Great vid thanks a lot I wasn’t sure if the wired freedom was going to be too tall for me but now with this I can be more confident with my decision 😊
@@fredericp64 yeah i ended up getting the freedom. I’m 5’6” and it’s a little too big for me. the cruiser one would be best suited for my size but I’m agile enough to hop on the freedom.
@@TheGodNC nice! Do you use the higher speeds or does it kind of feel like "wtf am I doing on a bike at this speed?!" Basically, does it feel stable or wonky as hell ? Thx!
@@fredericp64 it’s stable since I’m smaller wind does pick up makes it harder to handle. But very stable. It has good suspension. I just cruise around 20-25mph I don’t really feel a need to hit the max of up to 40 lol but everyone and then it does feel good to rip it.
Hey Citizen, Thank you for another great video. Did you publish the minimum seat heights of all these bikes? I need to find the lowest seat height fat tire e-bike for my girl of 5 foot. Keep up the great work.
We are loving your videos, all packed with so much information. I am the same height as your wife and really enjoyed this short rider video as I need to decide on an e-bike. How does your wife like the Wired Step Thru?? It would be great to see her fit on that bike….Please Oh and i just turned 65. I like the distance and speed of the wired bike. It looks like my husband will get the Wired or Billy Goat.
Good vid brother, I really like the aventon adventure 2 . Any suggestions you might have for me with regards to my hight @ 5'6 inches and the step through vs the step over? I'm thinking just the regular frame but since you have much experience on ebikes and this is my first ebike, I'd thought you might be able to help me with the size of the bike. Anyway, thax putting out your vids, I really appreciate the time you put forth to provide them for us.
Thank you for all you do for all of us involved in the ebike world it would not be the same without you I'm 65 and I own a 3.0 a Buzz centris a Rad mission and are ready for this I also own and ride a nan robot D6+2.0 I would love to see you ride a scooter But please wear a Helmet and please Be careful out there we need you sincerely Charles w Fletcher
I'm on the fence between either a cruiser or a freedom. I really prefer the look over the freedom, but since I am 5'6" on a good day. Do you think the freedom will be fine size wise? From what I understand, the cruiser has about the same seat height but it's just easier to get on to. I am confident that I am flexible enough to get on the freedom, I just don't want problems when coming to a stop. I would appreciate your advice, thank you. 🙏
Love your video! But need your help! My wife and I are looking to buy two bikes of same brand and are considering the Aventon Aventure2 and the Wired Freedom. I am 6’2” and my wife is 5’4”. I know your wife mentions that the Wire Freedom is too powerful for her, which is now the concern my wife has after watching your video. My wife is afraid of too much power on the wired freedom so I am curious to know if you drop the power on the wire for freedom will your wife like it more than the Advent adventure 2 or if she still prefers it. My concern with the adventure2 is that it only has a 15 amp battery, low range, and that the writing position for me will cause me to bend down more where the Freedom will allow me to ride more in upright position. We really appreciate your help with this.
I’m 5’2” with shoes. I know I’m going to need a step through but I am riding in very rocky conditions, with steep hills. I also want to be able to travel with it to sandy vacation areas. I prefer speed and power. What do you and your viewers suggest?
Thank you, useful, I subscribed. My steam is 29 inch, there is a e-bike moped that I like and it is 31 inch. I want to be safe and stable, may You give me some advice? I cannot try anykind, I am in Italy and I cannot find fat tires to try around. Yesterday I saw two 20 inch fat tires e-bikes but they aren't in sell and I couldn't read the mark, I liked them and they were rights for shorter than me too.
Hi. Love the channel. I watched a video few months ago now testing a Himiway Rhino with twin batteries but it’s the only review I’ve seen on TH-cam have you heard anything about this bike?
People really need to see like you say a shorter person riding. People need to check the sizes before they buy one and get out on the trails or road. Thank you and Mrs. Citizen
This was so informative! Have you tried Troxus? I’m 5’2 and am almost sold on the aventon adventure.2, but want just a little more speed for when I don’t feel like pedaling! Basically want to use the same bike for fun but also exercise sometimes lol. Any suggestions?
i have not tried a troxus bike yet. Aventon is nice but speed with throttle is capped at 20mph. Cyrusher Kommoda and Magicycle Ocelot and Mini Deer fit shorter riders too, but they have smaller wheels.
Hi Brian! Beyond helpful video as always. Have you happened to ever try a Randride ebike? I’m in the market for a pocket rocket versatile ebike and they seem to have great options when it comes to mountain ebikes - ideal dimensions, not too heavy and very competitive pricing for the power output. Almost seems too good to be true and the scarce feedback I’ve found does seem positive (it’s a newer Chinese company established in 2018 and apparently never gained much publicity at all). Legitimate reviews on those are basically nonexistent on TH-cam and possibly even the whole internet. I’d really appreciate any input as I value your channel which has been an outstanding knowledge bank for me to get into the ebiking scene.
I went to the Lectrify show in San Francisco not to long ago. I wish more vendors were there to test. Still very interesting technology on the bike's & plenty of room to ride to get a good feel.
This was a really helpful video. I've been looking at the Fabulous Road Warrior X2 on their website, where they say minimum seat height is 33". They don't mention that's if you remove the suspension seatpost. I'm 5'6", so with the suspension seatpost, I would be like your wife, teetering from tippy toe to tippy toe on either side. Probably too tall for me and my 29" inseam.
As a vertically challenged human being myself, I really appreciate this video! Having a hottie on screen doesnt hurt either! Im surprised she didnt like the Lectric Lite. I have this bike, along with a Super 73 RX and appreciate the light weight, and low seat height of the Lectric
I was so hopeful but, alas, 5'4" is where petite clothing maxes out. So, 5'4" and adding two inch heels puts her at 5'6" (not short at all!). I wish she was 5 - 5'2".
Can have her test out more of the E moto brands like Surron, Telaria, light bee, and The Cyclone CS20 from E strapz? I’m 5’4 and really want to get the CS20, wanna make sure it isn’t too big
My wife is 5’1 and not very confident on a bike. I got her a Rad Mini step thru two years ago and she loved it. She also wanted more of a real bike feel so I just bought her a Trek MTB mid-drive e-bike. It’s only 48 lbs compared to the 70 lb hub motors. Most of the Hybrid bikes she tried had higher 29” wheels but the MTB had 27”.We added fenders and a rack to convert it more into a street bike.
I am 5' 2" and have built 4 upright e-trikes. I think this might be a better solution for many people my height. You can get settled on the seat before you start moving.
I am 5'3" with legs on the shorter side. I can barely touch my toes on my Ocelot Pro with seat at the lowest setting. I am older so like the confidence of feet on the ground!
My wife is the same way. She doesn't give a rip about leg extension or anything. She wants to be able to at a minimum be on the balls of her feet while sitting but preferably flat footed. She is 5'1" so it's hard lol 32" seat height from the ground seems to be a maximum for her.
I feel for your wife I'm barely 5'2", I have a HeyBike Ranger. I have to slightly tilt the bike to get my seat partially in the seat and then put my left foot on the pedal and then throttle. Still kinda scary at times
You're the only one that I can find that did a real review of eBikes for women's bikes.

Thanks.
I agree it’s all about inseam
This. I'm 5'4" but long waisted. My inseam ranges from 28/29". My husband is built the same but is 6'1" with a 31" inseam so many bikes are uncomfortable for him also.

Imo the ocelot pro is the better choice between the 2 she liked the best, because of the bigger battery. And I own one and I love it. I’m 5’3”.
Good to know! Great vid thanks a lot I wasn’t sure if the wired freedom was going to be too tall for me but now with this I can be more confident with my decision 😊
Glad you found it helpful!
Did you end up getting it? How's the height?
@@fredericp64 yeah i ended up getting the freedom. I’m 5’6” and it’s a little too big for me. the cruiser one would be best suited for my size but I’m agile enough to hop on the freedom.
@@TheGodNC nice! Do you use the higher speeds or does it kind of feel like "wtf am I doing on a bike at this speed?!"
Basically, does it feel stable or wonky as hell ?
Very helpful video. Thanks.
What kind of camera or phone camera are you using it is so clear!
@citizencycle any update on my request for your help??? Merry Christmas.
My wife wants to know where to get those platform shoes!
Wired freedom best bike to buy or? Thanks.
This video is important to me as im 5'-5". What i saw here, most of the bikes handlebars were adjusted to far forward
How do you transport these? Also, what do you think of the folding bikes?
What you should do is build her a bobber type e-bike, just something else for you to build.
Love it!!
look like to me sir she seemed to be most comfortable on the 20 inch fat tire bikes all the other e-bikes look like they were just too big for her
I have a Beecool bike, what’s the best suspension I can use for it? Any ideas? I appreciate it
Great video, thanks. Thank your wife.
Can you add Bandit X-TRAIL PRO for 40+ mph review with short person test as one test of the test. I am 5’4” and need these type of review.
Next weekend there is a ev show in dc
I went to the Lectrify show in San Francisco not to long ago. I wish more vendors were there to test. Still very interesting technology on the bike's & plenty of room to ride to get a good feel.
This was a really helpful video. I've been looking at the Fabulous Road Warrior X2 on their website, where they say minimum seat height is 33". They don't mention that's if you remove the suspension seatpost. I'm 5'6", so with the suspension seatpost, I would be like your wife, teetering from tippy toe to tippy toe on either side. Probably too tall for me and my 29" inseam.
What seat is on the Aventon Aventure 2? It doesn't look stock.
As a vertically challenged human being myself, I really appreciate this video! Having a hottie on screen doesnt hurt either! Im surprised she didnt like the Lectric Lite. I have this bike, along with a Super 73 RX and appreciate the light weight, and low seat height of the Lectric
As a 5'2" women, thank you, thank you, thank you
I was so hopeful but, alas, 5'4" is where petite clothing maxes out.
Unfortunately i dont know anyone with those bikes, and it would be tough to get her on them, she doesnt like large or powerful bikes.
@@CitizenCycle925 so turns out the bike I’m getting would be good for her, 17 inch tires, and 19 inch tires
I just bought Blix Vika+ and my feet can easily touch the ground while seated but when I pedal, my legs bend too much. I'm 5'.
Thank you for this video my wife is 5'1 so I can't just order an E bike has to be comfortable for the rider
Great video. My wife and I are also about a foot apart in height. Do you know the frame size of the Aventure that you have?
It's a small frame
@@CitizenCycle925 Thanks! Do you feel comfortable on it, or does it feel too small for you?
What about women under 5'2, 28 in inseam?
Any chance she has tried the HIMIWAY Zebra step-thru? I am 5’3” and have been eye balling the Zebra step-thru but nervous about the height.
Very pretty ebike rider right there
I am 5' 2" and have built 4 upright e-trikes.
Very helpful as I am 5'5" tall and most bikes are higher for me.
Would they have street tires for electric bikes in all sizes ?
Very helpful!
I feel for your wife I'm barely 5'2", I have a HeyBike Ranger. I have to slightly tilt the bike to get my seat partially in the seat and then put my left foot on the pedal and then throttle. Still kinda scary at times
