I can confirm this is the brandy melville account on Depop. They bought a bundle of things from my page, and the address was the exact address of the broadway store, 499 Broadway. Just thought it was cool haha didnt think too much of it!

Sydnasty who is a designer for the brand has addressed claims and basically says there is nothing wrong with what they're doing. The instagram @unifcopied is super helpful on showing comparisons. I just wish brands had some more respect and innovation, but with fast fashion they're just getting plain desperate:(

@@silvias7319 It was a few vintage t shirts from my shop. They were old tourist ones in like child's size that fit an xs-small. I guess they were focusing on how it fits, and the graphics. Nothing was directly taken that I have seen!

Back when I used to shop at brandy before I realized I didn’t want to be supporting their message, one of the girls who worked there walked up to me saying that I would be a good fit to work there and she wanted to talk to me for a bit. So I was hyped and I followed her. Basically the only “qualifications” that she noticed of mine were that I was skinny, tan (I’m biracial so lmao at least a little bit of diversity) and tall. After the little chat, she immediately asked for my social media and to take a picture of me. I was fine with it but i asked why, and I still can’t believe what she told me. Basically she said that when looking for new “brandy girls” they look at the social media and outfits to see if they can get “inspiration” from my outfits for their brand. Then she explained that all the girls who work there have their instagrams looked at by managers and etc and the managers then send good outfit ideas around and sometimes they reach corporate and THEY FUCKING COPY THE CLOTHES TO SELL. I looked up about this after I got home that day and found videos that said the same thing from girls who used to work there. So if a worker made a piece of clothing, DIYed it, or styled it themself, the company just rips them off with zero credit.

This is so wild, its no wonder when I go thrifting and find some vintage pieces they heavily resemble/look similar to some of the brandy melville items. I would love to see more from the brandy series, on depop there's these brandy melville giveaways and a lot of them are really sus. The girls on there would tell you to donate or buy their listing to earn more entries into the giveaways. I even saw a giveaway post saying if you sent her free brandy items, she'll give you 30 extra entry points idk its crazy. I always thought it wasn't legit, but would love to know your thoughts on it :)

I feel like a lot of people aren't aware where they're buying their clothes from and i've seen a lot of verified sellers on depop dropship from aliexpress, but marking up the prices.
Kathy Nguyen I hate those dropshipping accounts. They mark up the prices so much that u might as well just buy it off Aliexpress. The shipping time would be the same and u would be saving a lot more money. Idk how some ppl don’t realize it’s from aliexpress.
@@itscarolina837 I agree, a lot of dropshipping accounts are being pretty smart about it now. I've seen one of them claimed an item was handmade in order to disguise their one month shipping times and others are using COVID as an excuse to why they would be delivering in 4 weeks. I feel incredibly awful for those who have spent so much on items that could have been purchased for $15 or less. I'm sure not a lot of people know what aliexpress is though.
Kathy Nguyen I remember buying a plaid shirt from brandy melville 5-6 years ago, the label wasn’t brandy and every shirt had a different one, so I guess they even resell vintage clothes directly lmao

They photograph clothes for “inspiration”. I was in San Francisco wearing an XL floral long sleeve shirt I got from goodwill and they took a picture of it and remade it as the Coco wrap top and sold it for years. I got no money or credit obviously

omg i saw the thumbnail and i have a crazy good memory and immediately recognized the name and photo of the Gino Pino account and remembered what i sold them, I doubled checked, and they bought something from me almost exactly a year ago. Im a small designer and they bought something i designed and made!!!! wtf! so weird i would be so upset if they reproduced my designs i spend so much time on making. Literally taking money from small designers bruh. I checked their website they dont currently have anything similar to what they bought but who knows. How hard is it to hire some talented artists to compensate for their creativity????!!!
Jean Jean Jean Jean sadly brandy does a lot of shady things :( i watched a youtube video of this girl filming her life as a brandy employee and she models for them too. brandy takes advantage of very young girls and uses them for their image and pays them in clothes. these girls get paid minimum wage and some clothes to model for brandy instead of paying them an actual models salary. it’s so sad😔

important: ive attended one of their warehouse sales in sf. i don’t recommend going to one at ALL it’s a total waste of time. a lot of the clothing was just repeats but what i found really interesting was that some of the clothing wasn’t even brandy melville or john galt. some things were walmart, target, or random out dated clothing brands. I talk to some of the other girls in the line with me and they said they think it was brandy’s sample clothing that they use for “inspiration.”

if you search up the seller "clotheshoes" on depop, their first listing is of the brandy carousel sweatshirt before brandy produced it. the seller explains it in the item description and "gino pino" basically bought it and blatantly copied every inch of the design.

BRUHH i went into the georgetown store wearing a blue champion crewneck a few months ago right before the pandemic and they just released a new crewneck in the EXACT color with 'georgetown' printed across the chest I just thought it was too coincidental that the exact store I went to wearing the exact top was made a month or two later...

I remember like 3 years ago my brother was selling vintage clothing on eBay and I got so excited when I saw the shipping label to a sweatshirt he sold had the address name as “Stephan Marsan Brandy Melville” I still have a picture of the shipping label as proof! And I was so curious why he of all people would be buying my brothers old vintage clothes he found... but it makes sense now haha

I‘ve been working at Brandy for quite a while now and they also sometimes ask to take photos of our outfits when we‘re wearing non-Brandy...
Ok so I totally agree with this because as someone who buys from brandy Melville I had an odd (to say the least) experience with them. So they have the chat on their online website and I messaged them asking when a certain item would be back in stock. I then proceeded to say that they should start selling the items on the Chinese website in the American website. When the American website was shut down, I spent time browsing the Chinese website and noticed they had more “rare” items as well as just a better overall selection. They never got black to my message, but the very next day I noticed they had started selling items from the Chinese website on the US website. I dismissed this as merely a coincidence until it kept happening.
i was looking through the reviews the other day and they bought a ymca vintage sweatshirt and made a venice sweatshirt that looked the EXACT same just with different words ! literally the same design , colors , and word placement

But idk who deserves credit for it because I googled the design and it seems to be very popular replicated design even on chinese websites (google "brandy melville I climbed the great wall" vs just "I climbed the great wall")

I feel like this account could just be all the store employees ordering their items to the store (I don’t think it’s that weird) and then it ends up being recreated when they take pics of what the employees wear while working. Idk but i don’t think the company would really have to buy the shirts to copy them if they have pics from depop?
guys this is actually super common with the fashion industry. i forgot the term for it but companies have people buy apparel on the market for inspiration and to see what is trending to try to create their own version. Not saying it’s okay for brandy to literally copy and paste designs but so many of your favorite companies do it...

I’ve modelled for brandy and I work there, they buy clothes from smaller companies under a false name. They then reprice/tag that item and set ring up price much higher. That’s the reason there are “rare” items, they only bought some from that company. They then send the small amount of clothes to different shops around the world.

a common thing always noticed in ‘day in my life working a brandy’ vids is that the girls would always very briefly talk abt how they’re encouraged to wear their own, non-brandy clothes and that if the managers thought it was cute they had to tell them where it was from & take pics for ‘product research’. i always thought it was strange but guessed it made sense as the kind of girls who work there are their target demographic

One time I was at a Brandy Melville browsing around and one of the workers came up to me asking if she could take a picture of my outfit for "product research" and obviously I didn't want to sound rude or anything so I let her. She then asked me where my top was from and I said it was from Urban Outfitters. Later on I watched an ex-Brandy worker's video about her terrible experience working there and she said in her video that Brandy essentially steal ideas and trendy items from other people and remake them to sell (and then I realized that worker probably wanted to take a picture of my outfit for the same reason). Super sus and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing this kind of stuff on depop too :/
Brands have been doing this for YEARS. Taking inspiration from underground culture.. such as skate culture, indie, goth, etc.
I buy from SHEIN and ROMWE a lot and was wondering if they are basically the same company because they sell the exact same clothes so I wouldn’t be surprised but my issue is that the same items on ROMWE are usually cheaper than SHEIN. Makes so sense

You should look more into forever 21! Mostly concerning how they’re one of the biggest fast fashion brands and how that’s damaging to the environment and also exploits their workers. Definitely not my favorite company

I've been to a few brandy warehouse sales and most of the items at the sale are old brandy Melville clothing items or sample pieces but once in a while, you'll find items that arent sold by brandy (tags are from different stores) but look very similar. These pieces are probably items purchased from depop and other sellers and used by brandy as inspiration for their items.

Brandy Melville is fast fashion that uses illegal factories. most of their stuff is made in china (which is why china stores has huge amounts and newest styles)... they say "made in Italy" because stuff can be made in china but tagged in Italy, and there are illegally run Chinese owned factories in Italy. the fast fashion companies exploit underpaid labour and are horrible for the environment. I am guilty of buying brandy clothes, but I try to buy most of it on depop now to give a random person my money rather than this company

I saw a TH-cam video I can't remember, but considering this company cuts costs at every option (not shipping internationally, they shut down every store except for 3 in Canada because on bankruptcy, only making one size, etc) it doesn't surprise me they'd choose the cheapest possible manufacturing process, which is illegal workers making fast fashion clothing... 1.) that small devil design at 7 something minutes is actually an exact replica on danielleposers custom tattoo!! I believe they modeled for bm before and they posted about it in their ig that bm stole their tattoo!
Yupp I can confirm that Gino Pino is in fact a Brandy Melville store. I’m a top seller on Depop, and I sold something to that account (you can scroll way down in the purchased reviews, I have the same username and picture on depop that I have on here) it was a striped ribbed Minnie Mouse crop top. The shipping label literally said Brandy Melville.
I have a feeling that gino Pino when they were on depop. Would keep up and see what is considered rare brandy and how much people would pay for it. Then wait a few weeks and bring these items in stock again. Then repeat the cycle over and over. The rare brandy items such as the leopard top, bubblegum pink rosa, the Elizabeth sweater etc are back in stock. some other rare items are not like the Rita carrousel shirt but they'll come back. They are using scarcity marketing and know what they are doing. They know people will pay high money for their clothing if it's out of stock and the possibility of it not coming back so they use depop to keep up with what people think is not coming back.
