- Of course, EA might see some loss of players in the year immediately following the loss of the FIFA name - but it will be minimal, whatever it is, particularly since, as discussed, FIFA is unlikely to have a competing product ready to go on time to begin with to muddy the waters. Whatever these losses they might suffer are - and as I said, they would be minimal, if that - it will take them at most a year to recover.
So EA is likely to proceed on its decided path. FIFA, the body, doesn't have much recourse if that happens. EA comes out as the "winner". EA is better positioned to come out ahead from this fallout, whenever it happens. At this point, it feels like it's a matter of time. - เกม

To be clear (because I heard it repeated several times in this video), the FIFA name was the most well known sporting body in the world other than the Olympics. It is only in North America that the video game enhanced the body's reputation and made it better known. The rest of the world where football (soccer) is the most popular sport, the FIFA name was already well entrenched and known. I just wanted to make that clear. Your audience is a global one not just North American. Keep up the good work.

Hm the reality is that North America is the biggest market in the world, so yes, even if all African countries know FIFA before EA and that combined population is larger than, let's say the US, the reality is that it means more for EA and FIFA to be known where the buying power is strong

The video implied that FIFA became better known because of EA. That would only be in one specific place on the whole planet - North America. Everywhere else, FIFA is a huge deal.

EA is wrong. PERIOD. There's no 2 sides to this. FIFA is a BRAND with or without EA. EA never made a name for itself with a soccer game EA Branded without using a license, FIFA. EA FIFA only sells well GLOBALLY because of the licensing NAME. Yes the gameplay could be good or best on market, but that rarely equals these types of total sell numbers. FIFA org wants more money because they see how much EA is capitalizing on THEIR FIFA BRAND. EA is lucky FIFA org didn't somehow license ALL soccer clubs so that EA is left with just UNLICENSED Soccer teams and players. EA did this with the NFL. So this is a little taste of EA's own medicine shot back at them.
And F EA btw. I hope Konami rebrands their PES / eFootball game as FIFA just to stick it to EA even more.
Your going to bat for an organisation that's about to host a world cup in stadiums made by slave labour (thousands of which died in the process) in a country notorious for all of the human rights violations makes me facepalm.

I don't think having "FIFA" on the box is all that helpful other than for continuity reasons when FIFA's (not the game) reputation has been in the toilet for a long time.
Currently there's 1 other football game on the market, and it's released in a piss-poor state. EA will be fine ditching FIFA branding.

EA is just as corrupt as Fifa. I mean the pay to play on fifa is fucking ridiculous. You have to spend so much money in packs. For a small percentage to even pack a decent player. And then have your team be completely nerfed so you spend more money on packs. It’s actually criminal how they go on without anything being done about it.

Eh, I think the assumption that brand loyalty to EA is a driving force. Yes, it's all over gaming news sites and social media, but I don't play FIFA, but a lot of people I do know who play FIFA don't follow gaming news and aren't too active on social media. I find a lot of times basic research isn't done by people who just casually play games, and name recognition is kind of more important than company recognition.

EA slipping again...I still remember when NBA live was the elite basketball game for years. Then NBA 2k came, and now NBA live is no more. I could see the same thing happening here. In fact, I think that konami and the 2k team would more than likely make a much more in depth, realistic and comprehensive football simulation. They are just so good at it, despite the shortcomings of this year's efootball. EA just paper over cracks too much every year and really dont dig deep and attempt to really refurbish and make the game better, in particular the gameplay. Its too arcady. Eventhough, fifa 22 is a big improvement in my opinion.

I think it's misleading repeating the false point of EA making the FIFA name popular. Maybe only in North America, but around the world any football fan (and there are multiple millions!) Knows what FIFA is!

All the club rights that EA had came from the FIFA rights not the clubs themselves so that will cost EA a ton of money cause if 2K buy the full rights that includes clubs & players likenesses & all the competitions & UEFA & FIFA & all of the other organisations that split the world come under FIFA.
All EA own is the game frame & the game modes & if EA had looked up Football Manager they will see clubs will sue if you have no agreement with them.
If 2K buy the rights EA are done cause 2K have proven they can create a game model in less than 1 year & they can bring in Virtual concepts to build a game based around game modes & graphics used in NBA2K22 & WWE2K22 to create FIFA 2K23.
Plus EA lost the Star Wars franchise as well.

two friends and i started our own gaming studio last year and our Anniversary was this past Oct 7th.
Our first game is an american Football game with elements from college as well as ideas from other sports games.

Sports organizations should just do a revenue split with game development companies.
So there is no licensing cost… the companies stand to come out better
The developers don’t lose money if the game doesn’t do well , by not shelling out initial cash and the sport’s organization stand to gain more, if the game is highly successful..

EA sports better not left FiFA move on to 2k sports. In two years, we would see the greatest soccer game of all-time, and would coincide with the end of a EA sports soccer franchise. That is what happened to NBA Live, and that is what would happen to EA's soccer brand. They cannot compete with other companies on a level playing field, so they sign exclusivity deals so they don't have to compete. EA sports is a disgracefully lazy company.

2K isn't any "better" than EA. At all. EA, Blizzard, 2K, Activi$ion... They're all the same and we as customers should NOT be picking sides when it comes to who's better or worse since that's exactly how they're getting away with all the BS they do. It does not matter what they call it. "EA Sports FC" will still be called "FIFA". If they renamed it "EA Sports NFL Football", people would still refer to it as "MADDEN". FIFA does not have a leg to stand on and because they no longer have to pay for the name, EA will actually make more money.

I totally understand why so many people want Fifa to lose licences because over past few years developers have become lazy and we have had average games.
However, now we have another problem, we will get half arsed games lacking content, lacking club names and kits, some as we see already are online only so we lose career mode and so much more.
Tbf I had the same thing when it comes to FUT the game play is ass but one thing EA did do was push out content to give us something to play for… but will the new developers do the same? Or will they make a football game with good gameplay but will die down quickly because we won’t get as much content as we used too everyone will just be playing div rivals or squad battles for what? Gold players that you can’t even do anything bc of the lack of sbcs we’ll get

Fifa the game is really shit game.. After fifa 23 releases I'm not buy no other fifa games or whatever it might be called in the future until I see a major update to the game. I find it ridiculous how people buy the same game each year. They put lil effort in improving and making offline modes great like the Player and Manger career modes. Unless you planning pumping cash in Ultimate Team.. You'll never get to really compete.. They made clear that their only focus is on Ultimate team. Players like myself who is not trying to compete online. This is a let down for years now. Fifa 23 will be my first purchase of the franchise and my last until some new major features added to the game in the future..
