      Hey Paul, under $200 and with all the lunatic price increases that everything had, I think that FNIRSI is almost the only one bellow $200, not the only one but almost, you have the Hanmatek DOS1102 ( geni.us/hanmatek-dos1102 ) that is pretty the same of the Owon SDS1102. Maybe there is one more brand or a special deal somewhere, but if you're talking about desktop oscilloscope, this is pretty much what you get under $200. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for showing the FFT function, it works nice. Also it shows that your function generator works great.
    I don't know what happened to the FFT of your Rigol, it doesn't seem to be the FFT of a sine wave at all, maybe there's something else to set. FNIRSI Vs Rigol 1-0 :D

      @@TechCornerTV I forgot to ask another trivial question. In audio repairs a sine wave with a 30-50mV rms is needed, but I saw that with some cheap function generators it's almost impossible to set this amplitude. Is it possible with the integrated function generator of this oscilloscope?

    Hello Hugo, I really appreciated this YT review of the FNIRSI 1014D DSO. It was your candid review that tipped the scale in favor of purchasing this O'scope ~ 2 years ago. But I have a couple of questions that I've Googled until I'm blue in the face and can't quite get the answer I was hoping for. I'm simply trying to use this scope to assess the quality of our utility 120 VAC power vs. that when running on our back-up genny. I've read all the safety stuff and purchased a 100X probe. However, I cannot seem to calibrate/compensate this particular probe. All my other 1X/10X probes compensate just fine per your instructions on this video. I've reached out to FNIRSI too, and with all due respect, I am just told to read the user manual. Can you suggest what the issue might be? Btw, the 100X probe seems to work just fine and I can see my incoming utility signal perfectly. But when I try to calibrate it, it's just a straight line no matter what attenuation factor I try to use and trigger mode. I'm thinking that this probe attenuates so much that there's not enough output from the DSO's built-in function generator for the scope to trigger on. Your thoughts please!
    Also, I was hoping to get a rough idea of the THD of my utility vs. generator via the FFT functionality. I think you nailed it though in your review.....the FNIRSI's FFT is basically there just for "boasting/advertising" rights and not to be used for diagnostic purposes. What good is an FFT if it doesn't have the attendant dB vs Hz levels.
    Btw, I'm just an old retired NVH ME and when it comes to electronics/electrical stuff, all I know is NOT to stick a fork into the electrical outlet!!! :) Thanks again for your helpful YT video on this scope. All the best! John, aka NutDriver

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi John, sorry for this late reply, I am really short in time these days to proper answer within reasonable time, but to answer your questions, first FFT, for me only gives you an idea of what is going on. No scale, no measurements, so it worths what it worths. Regarding the 120V issue, it seems you're doing something like a ripple analysis on the signal of your mains voltage. If so, you 10X probe should be enough.
      1X probe normally goes up to 40V, most of the cheap probes eq P6100 allow you to go up to 400V in 10X mode, so is more than enough to measure the 120V signal. Maybe the 100X is to much attenuation for what you need, a probe like that should be able to work with voltages around 1000V.
      I hope it helped, thanks for watching.

    Hello! Is it good to work with low voltage analog circuits using 1014D scope? I want to design some analog synth hobbyist "things" where usually the internal sygnals can be 1.00v or lower. How good is it showing the work of BJT and JFET (MOSFET) transistors? The sinewave is OK but it's only one case of the usage, right?
    Sorry, I'm the newbie in all these things. Thus my questions may be silly :)

    I would like to be able to plot a real time voltage vs current display, so I can see both waveforms simultaneously, and be able to watch the phasing of the voltage vs current. Which o-scope will handle this best with 400volts and an amp or two (using 100x attenuation probes of course). And what current probe should I use? Is there a cheap reccomendation for a decent current clamp that would work here? Thanks.

    Another problem from the Fnirsi is that it is actually Not a 1Gsps ADC, just like his counterpart the Tablet osciloscope the 1013D model. It's a 8 bit 25Msps ADC at best. They do use oversampling so that when you have a Periodic wave it looks good on the screen.
    But all True 1Gsps osciloscopes start at about 240$/200€ ... Hantek, Rigol, there is even a Owon in that price range. (2 Channels only of course). A proper Hantek/Rigol/Siglent 1Gsps osciloscope will be at least 400$ ... yup they are one of the most important tools for electronics but they are indeed expensive.
    Having said this, These Low cost Portable osciloscopes from Fnirsi are indeed a useful tool specially in their price point. They are also very practical for use in remote locations ... I don't see myself carrying a very Bulky 400€ osciloscope out of my office ... so yes they are indeed a very neat tool no doubt.

    • @ajlenze8
      @ajlenze8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@John_Smith__ I think it's actually 200 M Sa/S. In Dave's EEVblog video on the 1013D, he actually probes the strobe into the ADC and measures it at 100MHz. However, the ADC chip actually has two ADCs on the same chip, and both are sampling the same signal but on the opposite strobe edge, for a total sampling rate of 200MHz.
      Note that, unlike most scopes, this sampling rate is maintained when two channels are used, because there is another ADC chip dedicated to the other channel. Most 1 G Sa/S scopes sample at 500 M Sa/S per channel, when two channels are enabled. The 1013D samples at 200 M Sa/S whether one or two channels are enabled.
