      A yumnut is a cross between a yum yum and a doughnut; and M&S have been selling these for a few years. The best one they ever did was the lemon yum nut and it had little meringue pieces on it; sadly it got discontinued xx

    I checked out the small print on some "All Butter" Viennese biscuits recently to find 2 oils in the list of ingredients. Wrote to M&S and the best excuse they came up with was that the "All Butter" label is a sort of brand name!!

    Bought a tin of M&S shortbread for the Coronation because I really liked the tin. I'm a big fan of shortbread but as I was trying to lose weight at the time I gave the pack ofshortbread to my son and kept the tin. He reported back that the shortbread was excellent. It looked like the best buy out of your haul. I might give the yum nut a go though. Yhanks for all our hard work Greeno 😊

    • @dontmesstheoriginal454
      @dontmesstheoriginal454 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you like shortbread that much then it's really worth making it yourself - nothing beats the fresh homemade stuff and after one or two practices it's actually really easy. A Scot will tell you shortbread should only have 4 ingredients; plain flour, butter and sugar (about one-third each is a good starting general rule) and a good pinch of salt. Don't over-handle it, and do be patient because it takes about 5 times longer than other biscuits to cook - long and low keeps it nice and pale in colour. The only 5th ingredient I have successfully used is replacing about a tablespoon of the flour with cornflour - gives it a little more of a bite if that's what you like.

    M&S is pricey but to be fair to them they do reduce their food very well. If you go when they have reduced their stuff for a second time you can get some real bargains. We got some gastro lasagna ready meals the other evening for 75p each

      I was in California in 2019, and remember being shocked how expensive food was then, and just how accepting people were of it. I was there for work, and my colleagues thought nothing of their lunch being $20, or some funky Starbucks coffee costing $8-$10 ! I genuinely don’t know how people in low income families eat there.

    Gravy mayo tasted yuk, who'd have thought it lol! As you say, just why... Thanks for suffering for your art. What a shame the sarnie was such a let down too. When you read out the ingredients I was thinking wow that's going to taste wonderful, but clearly didn't live up to expectations. Good quality shortbread is expensive plus you pay for the fancy tin so that was fine price wise IMO. I can't stand shortbread where your mouth is coated with palm oil afterwards.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I was really looking forward to the sandwich, but it was incredibly tasteless, and the soggy toast vibe didn't help. I also think the shortbread was fairly priced, and it was tasty (prefer my homemade one though 😀). If I never eat gravynaise again I will be happy ha ha!

  • @denisemotley6639
    @denisemotley6639 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The shortbread is good. It is all butter and not palm oil etc. Also if you make it yourself the cost of butter and the gas or electric to cook it makes it worth the money in my opinion. Plus you get a tin. I bought a neighbour a tin of shortbread from M and S with a robin on it. I think that was £5. I was eating oxtail, mash and carrots whilst I was watching you with the sausage and strange dip and glad I wasn't eating it. The small amount of oxtail was £5.40 for one person!! The prices of food are going mental but I won't get political on that issue. 👍

    Which bank did you rob to shop at M & S.
    Shortbread £7. Doughnut £ 2 Posh dog £2.50 Sandwich £4.50 crisps £ 2.30.
    so 6 sausages, when you can get a pack of 20 for around £2 Asda, Tesco. and not have to eat that yuk sauce. and you could get some pigs in blankets cheaper.
    paying £7 for the shortbread just since it is in a tin, when you can pay £2 or £3 for it in a box. you do not eat the tin and most end up in the bin.
    spending £2 on a cake when you can go to Aldi and get the sticky toffee cake or chocolate cake for £2.35. far more to it so better value.

      I 100% agree that there are better priced options out there. And some of the items I bought from M&S were so poor that I would have been upset if I had bought them for half the price in another establishment. But plenty of people do shop there, so only fair to showcase some of their Christmas products alongside Greggs etc. (PS - I have a video pf Xmas stuff from Lidl coming soon :-) )
