Love your content, thx for everything! I have a question about cleaning the holes of char. As you said a co2 laser seems to give more char which is fine for the edges but how would you go about cleaning the holes? I used a lighter color thread and it got all dirty looking, What's your thoughts on this? thx.
Getting your settings and air perfect are the most important. Then, if you make the tread a bit longer, the first part of thread will pick up most of the dirt, then you just end up not using that part in the end. I also use a leather cleaner to clean the thread after. Not much more you can do. Mine in now so much cleaner than when I started, just took time to get it right.
It is probably a ton of factors. My awesome laser, perfect settings, thin quality leather, practice...I can say my older wallets had darker yellow thread, but I could clean most of it off with leather cleaner. The picture you see in the thumbnail is without using any cleaner on the threads, it is just as it was when I finished sewing.

Awesome, this is my first leather anything. it was super easy to cut on your laser. and the sewing was major satisfying.
The details are priceless - this will be extremely helpful, thank you!

How do you keep the laser charing from darkening the yellow thread?
