I’ve been watching your videos for three years now, my deepest sympathies for your wife, like a lot of comments people send you , I don’t send many, but I watch your videos more than you can imagine lol ,I’m retired and it’s a great hobby, getting fairly good at building style of wallets and I appreciate your videos very much, my niece wants me to build her a Truman trifold, do have a video building one? Or just the short version? Again thanks again for the videos, you are the man Artie!!! Keep up the good work!
Great stuff man! I recently did an experiment with aging copper rivets using liver of sulfur. Stunk to the moon but the results were pretty quick and very effective.
The dirt selected makes a difference. I suspect the “official” mud is fine-grained silt or clay which is abrasive enough to take the shine off of a ball without scratching the surface up. The mineral makeup of the specific “mud” determines the color.
Not ruined! Love that but is the dirt necessary? I wonder if it's mostly just the neetsfoot oil doing the job. Does the official rubbing mud come out different you think?
Don’t look to me like that old Marsheltown trowel has seen any mortar for quite a while. Lol. Love your videos. I used to be a Brick Mason myself. Started helping out my Uncles in the 50’s. Started making a living in Masonry in 1961!! I’m now 80 yrs old, can’t physically do it anymore. Muscle memory is still there but that’s all it is, just memory, the muscl has been gone a long time ago. Already subscribed and watch all your videos.
Good afternoon! Unfortunately, I did not find any information about the skin on the website. What kind of leather do you make your products from? Crazy horse, pull-up or is it vegetable tanned leather? You could tell me, because I really like the way they look at you and I would like to achieve the same visual effect for my products. Thank you in advance!
Not crazy....always love the unique marks...they are never defects! I sometimes miss the cheaper leather I used to buy that had brand marks...but don't miss working with it! Great experiment!
Hello fellow Masters graduate! This actually explains a lot: Manicured hands, well spoken, attention to detail, etc. Did you make it to the unappreciated position of Principal or did you teach High School history. In either case, it is extremely gratifying to see another of your fantastic videos and of course lil' Chloe. Cheers, my friend.
I noticed a round knife that looked like it was double ended, was that a zeebee made knife? Could you share about it? Currently considering buying a round knife but curious about everyone else’s preferences.
Nice experiment! But i don't think the mud/dirt was necessary, i think you'd get the same result with just the oil. I generally use olive oil on straight veg tan as it gives it a nice dark patina'd look. Enjoy the videos as always!!

Once again, I learned something watching your channel. And you made it entertaining. More videos, please. Excuse me while I go smear mud on my wife's purse. 🤕
That last comment I sent, I forgot to tell you I used nothing but Horween cavalier and Dublin, and it’s just my edging that’s stained my cards, thanks !!
How about using you Beverage of choice, Coffee and whatever "Flavor enhancer" you think might add a "Shot" of pizazz. On another note, did you happen to see that Nigel Armitage has dropped a new Saddle stiching 3 part video?
Too funny! I'm watching Nigels video while I'm watching Arties video while reading comments. Artie you give so much enthusiasm to all your viewers. Great vid as always!
We get it, your an alcoholic. You start drinking right when you wake up. That's not why we watch your videos. I bet there's people that don't watch your stuff just because of that. Not me, love your work. AA bro..
I keep thinking you need a control group of just water, balm, and oil without the mud.
If I had the time! 😆
But you’re right. That would have been cool.
I feel like the neetsfoot oil did all the heavy lifting. Do you think the dirt did anything?
I agree. The dirt grains need to be finer to penetrate better. My opinion
Always a pleasure to see a post by you. Very interesting, thanks. And lots of Chloe too!
Our pleasure!
I enjoy your work, and sense of humor.
Thanks !!

Turned out pretty! Your watches looked beautiful too!
Thank you!!
Great stuff man! I recently did an experiment with aging copper rivets using liver of sulfur. Stunk to the moon but the results were pretty quick and very effective.
Good stuff!
Very cool video. What would the leather look like without the mud, with just the oil?
Good question!
Smiling over here in NM. Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for all you do! Informative and entertaining!
My pleasure!
Very interesting ! Always fun to experiment with stuff !
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video Artie,as always, love the experiment but thought I’d ask about that cool looking round knife looking thing?
Thanks ! My son, mascon forge, made that from a wrench
Whats up with the mini square and ruler? Sold out again!
We’re constantly restocking tools.
cool looking with the oil i like it
Thank you! Cheers!

Where did you get that coffee/whiskey cup.Looks cool
Antique copper measuring cup

👍
Are you going to have more brass jigs brass and anvil ? need to be shipped to Germany?
What kind of a container do u keep ur white mud (tokonole) in? I really have learned a lot from ur videos!

Can that leather be cased and wet molded? I men the leather that is used to make footballs. Can it be molded?
100% yes. Raw veg.
@@MasconLeather Awesome and thank you. I have some ideas that I want to try, just wanted to know if it could be molded before I bought a side.
very interesting might have to try it on something
You should!

Neat experiment... 👍👍

Very true!

My degree is in “higher education”, educational policy, planning and leadership. (EPPL).
Thanks for the kind words!!

You may be correct. But I just like knowing it’s there. 😆
Great experiment! Natural leather Natural dirt and pure oil😊 Im looking forward next experiment!

Cool story brother. I live just north of philly, in Bristol, PA, across from Jersey/on the river.
That turned out sexy. The grain and neetsfoot makes it a great color.
Once again, I learned something watching your channel. And you made it entertaining. More videos, please.
Excuse me while I go smear mud on my wife's purse. 🤕
😆
was this just a plain veg tan piece of leather that you used from horween? or something other than natural veg tan
Great to see the 🐶!
Thanks ! She loves being in the videos
I think Chloe had some great comments and that poor monkey! another awesome video, thank you for your time....
😆 Chloe is a riot
looks like mud didn't affect too much, try to use grounded coffee as a dye
I did that in a previous video. 😉
Thanks for the video. 👍👍 now we know what you know
😆 thanks for watching!!
That last comment I sent, I forgot to tell you I used nothing but Horween cavalier and Dublin, and it’s just my edging that’s stained my cards, thanks !!
The spot might of been some Tokonole. It has a habit of blocking dyes once it's applied.
I’m 90% sure you’re correct. One reason I rarely use straight raw veg leather. It’s so finicky
Im also glad to see you doing ok brother. Day by day.
How about using you Beverage of choice, Coffee and whatever "Flavor enhancer" you think might add a "Shot" of pizazz. On another note, did you happen to see that Nigel Armitage has dropped a new Saddle stiching 3 part video?
I did a previous video of adding coffee
Yes Sir you did. I meant adding coffee with the shot to the mud in the video.
@waltmorgan197 ah!! Yep. Maybe next time’!
Too funny! I'm watching Nigels video while I'm watching Arties video while reading comments. Artie you give so much enthusiasm to all your viewers. Great vid as always!
Hae am from Kenya want to learn how to do crafting
Maybe the mud did nothing and it was just the neatsfoot that actually coloured the leather?
A good % was neatsfoot. Agreed
That was pretty neat. I like all the minor flaws in leather it makes it one of a kind.
Thanks !!
I imagine the neetsfoot oil would have darkened the leather anyway. It does my saddle and boots
Hi 👋🏻
Hello
Buy a jar of the mud they use to age the footballs and basketballs
Yep. Just $45
u got such a nice place
Thanks !!
Hi
🖐️
Nice took me all damn day to finish this video, because got Covid
Thanks for pushing through!
I believe you got that effect because of oil, not dirt.
A good %, yes
Sports, History AND Leather in one video!!! Might as well call it porn
😆
Well this mud is only 20 minutes from my house
I like, you should give it away to one of us subscribers-Steve
I am almost going to go nuts 🌰 because weather here manhattan ks
👍
As an ignorant 'limey',😂 Why do they muddy the balls?
Dang. I should have mentioned that in the video. Great question. It’s for grip. Removes slippery sheen.
@@MasconLeather Thanks.
