Your comment is actually true; the disc searches for several different CPUs, none of which are in the final, released console, meaning it's still looking for the ones used in the Dolphin development systems. Since the CPU in the actual console was newer and reliable, unlike the Dolphin CPUs, Nintendo realised there was no point in having the disc in the long run. As a result, post-2003 consoles had the firmware slightly updated so it couldn't be read anymore.
It was to test stereoscopic 3d capabilities for the GameCube. It was said that they tried this and making it portable but note ideas were scrapped and reused for later consoles
@jimmychoo9001 um... it's a diagnostics test disc given to Nintendo repair shops so that the repairmen could find out what is wrong with your Gamecube console. Not too many copies have escaped the shops and most were sent back to Nintendo for destruction via Nintendo representatives.
Thanks for dumping this, I just tried to run this on my Japanese cube with GCLoader and it got a disc read error... which is strange since swiss should enable this to be read by any region console.

I also saw some people say they updated the gamecube to not reconize this disk after 2003. interesting stuff.

The disc was designed for early Gamecube models that did not support component video output.
I honestly don't know but my guess errs on the idea that Nintendo didn't want early versions of the games on the demo disks leaked. For the equally less common Service Disks, they probably were ''destroyed'' because of more or less of the same reasons. Nintendo logic. Copyright Nintendo.

Obtaining the complete copy cost me a lot and I'm still trying to recover my investment. As a result, there have been less preservation efforts as I would like.

Sounds like WAY more than a thousand dollars, and seeing that sealed games (which are otherwise pretty common) can retail for over $500, I can believe the Gamecube Service Disc would cost a lot more. @@mechamind90 Well actually, the disc that is being shown in this video is the one I dumped (or ripped) and released. I still have the original case but the condition is not as pristine as it originally was due to moving a few times but both the service disc and case are in very good condition, still. I traded a copy of SNES Earthbound for it believe it or not. if you want one yourself, there is a lot of 3 Gamecube test discs on Ebay right now but they cost $9,999 :V Good luck lol! While I don't have any real expenses to worry about such as kids or insanely costly responsibilities or whatever (thankfully), I would like to spend less on videogame collecting because I have nearly collected what I want to own and have spent a fortune already with no real return investment over the years. The focal point is preserving and obtaining prototypes now because I have built an ardurino Sanni Cart Reader so I have the ability to backup SNES, NES, SFC, FC, Genesis Mega Drive GBA, GB, GBC WII Gamecube PS1 and other consoles to an sd card and or hard drive or DVD, etc. I am working on an effort to locate prototypes currently.

Just mount the iso using dameon lite or alcohol 98 or some other iso program and run it with dolphin.
