Actually fun thing Shesez i researched the red gamecube thing and found out the red gamecube IS a real thing... but it was only for a limited edition purchase for a gundam game tho
***** is the gamecube your favourite console? if it is... UP TOP! (holds out hand) Edit: i agree aswell the red gundam gamecube is also damn f*cking cool
pokefan548 My guess is no... but since i can't speak for certianty of its performance. who knows until some youtuber makes a comparison (if it is possible) with 2 gamecube 1 being the gundam and the other the real gamecube to see if it was faster but agian.. purely guesses
It feels so weird seeing this stuff in HD! For a long time I thought this demo was only preserved via some camcorder footage at a trade show. Also, this video took me right back to being in school when everyone learned the next Nintendo console could be called 'The Dolphin' and have smaller discs for it's games. It blew our minds somehow, haha. Congrats on 5K!
Thanks for the episode. I myself used to use Action Replay to explore out of bounds areas in Twilight Princess (once tried to see how quickly I could beat the game using AR codes, and I got to the final boss in something like 5 minutes), and I really appreciate you essentially archiving all these little details. Seriously, keep up this quality, and your channel is going to get huge VERY quickly. There's almost no one giving this specific type of content on TH-cam.
"Peache's Castel". Anyway, this was an interesting video. I didn't even know this thing was something somebody could get their hands on! Also, I really love the wireframe view mode. It always makes things look really cool.
I don't know why this video doesn't get as much love as the others. I think its really interesting. I've played most of the games you Boundary Break, but the tech demo is very weird and interesting.
I want that red arrow in the next Super Smash Bros game. I know it doesn't have any fighting experience and seems forgotten, but Mr. Game&Watch is in Smash Bros and he seems fine.
2:03 Because the font was not made for capital letters, and you can clearly see the swirls on the M are not actually anywhere farther from the O than any of the other letters are apart.
Shesez! YOU HAVE TO DO WUHU ISLAND ON NEXT BOUNDARY BREAK!! You know, the island that is in Wii Sports Resort, Mario kart 7, Some other games. It is what Iwata wants.
gamecube 2001 and the wii is 2005 so the gamecube was before the wii even though it could of been. P.s my profile pic is a rabbit and so is yours. kinda
I always got that too. Was never quite sure why, but that's what attracted me to them. Maybe it's the tech demo's soundtrack? It could be heard as a little mysterious, maybe off-sounding at points. ...Very strange how multiple people can pick up something that seemingly has absolutely nothing to do with the subject... We're all a little psychic, aren't we?
the red GameCube does exist as a Japanese exclusive red gundam themed collector bundle it came with a matching game boy player and I believe a gundam figure there was also a wavebird to go along with it but it wasn't part of the bundle part of me says that you could get that through nintendo power but I am not certain
The spaceship at the left kinda ressembled Rosalina's Comet Observatory (with less colors of course) btw catching up all the videos that interess me here, such a pleasure, I'll follow this videos with no doubt!
woah nice video i didnt expect this one hint hint i think I knew this was coming because lately you've been doing a few GameCube and Wii projects but so far nice video ! loved it
7:36 space.....station? I see a lot of comments about how it might be the comet observatory but to me it looks really obviously like the Voyager 1? or maybe Galileo based on the coloring.
This is incredibly fascinating. I never knew this even existed. I know you said unless it's popular it doesn't benefit as much, but I do appreciate the obtuse ones like this.
I wish to point out that on the left at 7:34 is not a space station. That looks to be a depiction of a Voyager space probe, albeit with the colors altered or another version of a space probe.
Strange. To me, it looks more like the Comet Observatory from Mario Galaxy. I highly doubt that’s what they were going for, especially considering this tech demo came out before Mario Sunshine, and Galaxy wasn’t even a thing back then.
I never knew about this? How could People get a hold of this again? Also, thanks for respecting the Music at the end instead of cutting it off in the middle of the epicness.
If you look carefully at 7:20 when mario is in grid mode he turns counter clock and then seconds later he changes the rotating direction, like the ballerina thing. Lol
Wonderful video as always Shesez and congratulations on hitting 5,000 subs. Your style and content is a breathe of fresh air in the saturated gaming scene on TH-cam. Keep it up! P.S. I was totally right that it was Metroid! ;)
i think the plane was a nod to pilotwings, a game on the SNES, and maybe it was planned for a rerelease for the GameCube, however, that didn't happen until the 3DS, with Pilotwings Resort. (and a part of Wii Sports Resort.) I also think the the plane has a Mii in it, instead of Wario. I doubt I'm right, but it's possible.
Looks like Mario or Luigi in their explorer gear from the Mystery Land map from Mario Party 2 in the plane if you ask me. Granted there _is_ red and green on those costumes, but the texture is so compressed it might have been lost. Might not be, but that combined with the red and green seats in the plane seem to suggest it's one of them.
Hm. That spinning light fixture in the foyer kind of looks like the spirit vessels from Skyward Sword, and the lights themselves resemble the light fruit from the same game.
i believe the "DO MO" piece has to do with the spritesheet they used for the font. it was probably not important enough to specify a different gap size between certain characters, which could take a long time depending on the overal font usage.. but thats just my opinions based on modern usage, who knows what kind of programming nightmares they had!
It's been a year since you posted this, and even though I really enjoyed the video, I'm really bummed you didn't investigate the bump map room more closely, particularly to see the occlusion on those marbled windows. I would also have loved to see that pillar a little bit more closely...
Remember when Nintendo had creative and innovation while also pushing for strong hardware. Remember how there were amazing games on SNES, N64, and GameCube that also looked really good due to Nintendo having strong focuses on hardware as well? The GameCube was more powerful than PS2, and it had custom ATI chips for much better graphics than what the GS could do.
Would it be possible for you to make a video on games from other consoles in the future? If not that's fine. Besides that this is a rather unique and interesting series, I'd love to see where this channel ends up in the future.
So i can... somewhat. if theres a PS2 game with a Moonjump code or a wall clip code. I can do an episode for it. If theres a game youre particularly passionate about, google whether they have those codes and let me know! I might use it in a future episode :)
Now somebody out there must make a SM64 hack Gamecube render of Super Mario 64 with the models from Super Smash Bros Melee and Luigi's Mansion and probably call it "Super Mario GameCube" or "Super Mario '01" ASAP!!!!
Now this is awesome, I've never seen this tech demo. The Arrow should be in the next smash bros
It needs it's own game, i wanna have an arrow adventure
+weegee90000 Dude, a point and click adventure with the arrow.
If this Tech Demo ever gets in Smash, It will probably be a Gamecube World stage. Highly doubt it though.
Its final smash will be the airplane.
I agree
It's pretty funny to watch room 7 glitch out the video compression.
hehehe
1:57 the O and the M aren't spaced out, it's the default kerning since the M has large flourishes when capitalized in this typeface
DO ME
"Peach Castel"
there's a song called white illusion on one of the first sound horizon albums (Lost) and Jimang sings "cyast" instead of castle xD
Raul Munwalker (slow clap)
Actually fun thing Shesez i researched the red gamecube thing and found out the red gamecube IS a real thing... but it was only for a limited edition purchase for a gundam game tho
Freddiefreeman yeah, they cost quite a bit but it would be so worth it. It's my favorite game cube
*****
is the gamecube your favourite console? if it is... UP TOP! (holds out hand)
Edit: i agree aswell the red gundam gamecube is also damn f*cking cool
Did it run 3 times as fast?
pokefan548
My guess is no... but since i can't speak for certianty of its performance. who knows until some youtuber makes a comparison (if it is possible) with 2 gamecube 1 being the gundam and the other the real gamecube to see if it was faster but agian.. purely guesses
Freddiefreeman i think it was a joke
It feels so weird seeing this stuff in HD! For a long time I thought this demo was only preserved via some camcorder footage at a trade show.
Also, this video took me right back to being in school when everyone learned the next Nintendo console could be called 'The Dolphin' and have smaller discs for it's games. It blew our minds somehow, haha.
Congrats on 5K!
Thank you sir!
Actually insane how graphically wise, it could handle quiet a lot during it's prime, shame games didn't made much use of it.
The disks were just to small to make good use of the GameCubes potential
Gamecube was a pretty impressive system.
Thanks for the episode. I myself used to use Action Replay to explore out of bounds areas in Twilight Princess (once tried to see how quickly I could beat the game using AR codes, and I got to the final boss in something like 5 minutes), and I really appreciate you essentially archiving all these little details. "Peache's Castel". Anyway, this was an interesting video. I didn't even know this thing was something somebody could get their hands on! Also, I really love the wireframe view mode. It always makes things look really cool.
This is quite an amazing trip. It's neat that they made a demo just for showing these things off.
I don't know why this video doesn't get as much love as the others. I think its really interesting. I've played most of the games you Boundary Break, but the tech demo is very weird and interesting.
at 7:18 when you turn wireframe on, Mario's face has the spinning dancer optical illusion happen for a brief period.
I want that red arrow in the next Super Smash Bros game. I know it doesn't have any fighting experience and seems forgotten, but Mr. Game&Watch is in Smash Bros and he seems fine.
I wonder if the doors from Super Paper Mario were inspired by this.
woah... now thats a great question
Shesez that's*
Reviewer Of Things
who cares
Jędrzej Kawa Me.
Arrow for Smash 420 (Also, I love how modern TH-cam with the game settings thinks it's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.)
It does?
Oh, wow.
DoritoMcDew
Yeah, with the new thing they added in TH-cam, you can see what game the video is based on.
Now that's an update/change they actually did need.
Boundary Break: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3's lost GameCube port (early alpha)
Theoretically it might be able to handle small parks. Peeps/Pikmin, ya know?
7:54
This part had me in stitches. The way you delivered those lines was hilarious, for some reason.
2:03 Because the font was not made for capital letters, and you can clearly see the swirls on the M are not actually anywhere farther from the O than any of the other letters are apart.
Do you think Dolphins have a game system called The Human?
Nintendo Human, then it become GameBall
Peach's Castel
Shesez! YOU HAVE TO DO WUHU ISLAND ON NEXT BOUNDARY BREAK!! You know, the island that is in Wii Sports Resort, Mario kart 7, Some other games. It is what Iwata wants.
Hahahaha i know, the game will show up on the polls soon. Ive gotten a few requests for this one
0:37 Okay but that column looks AMAZING.
the rocketship on the wall looked like rosalina's spaceship
gamecube 2001 and the wii is 2005 so the gamecube was before the wii even though it could of been.
P.s my profile pic is a rabbit and so is yours. kinda
SwaggerDoesAnimation maybe they took this idea from the rocket ship on the wall and used it for super Mario galaxy's rosalina's ship
yea
For 2000-2001, this is amazingly detailed!
Why is always something creepy and interesting about this old N64 and NGC games?
Matheusfpolis1 how are they creepy?
I always got that too. Was never quite sure why, but that's what attracted me to them.
Maybe it's the tech demo's soundtrack? It could be heard as a little mysterious, maybe off-sounding at points.
...Very strange how multiple people can pick up something that seemingly has absolutely nothing to do with the subject... We're all a little psychic, aren't we?
In this particular case, it's because it's mysterious and completely empty. You just explore detailed empty rooms with nobody else but that arrow.
the red GameCube does exist as a Japanese exclusive red gundam themed collector bundle it came with a matching game boy player and I believe a gundam figure there was also a wavebird to go along with it but it wasn't part of the bundle part of me says that you could get that through nintendo power but I am not certain
This tech demo must've been Mind-blowing at the time when you consider how much worse games on the 64 looked.
The coin room absolutely destroys the video compression
I finally got to play through this tech demo myself yesterday and now I can finally watch this video!!
The spaceship at the left kinda ressembled Rosalina's Comet Observatory (with less colors of course)
btw catching up all the videos that interess me here, such a pleasure, I'll follow this videos with no doubt!
woah nice video i didnt expect this one hint hint i think I knew this was coming because lately you've been doing a few GameCube and Wii projects but so far nice video ! loved it
7:36 space.....station?
I see a lot of comments about how it might be the comet observatory but to me it looks really obviously like the Voyager 1?
or maybe Galileo based on the coloring.
Wow, that tech demo actually looks better than some modern PC games, even.
Koutana thats because hes playing it in HD
Oh cool! A Halo boundary break! Excited! I can see why it's going to take you a while. Those games are so big.
This is incredibly fascinating. I never knew this even existed.
I know you said unless it's popular it doesn't benefit as much, but I do appreciate the obtuse ones like this.
don't feel bad, this was great!
METROID HYPPEEEE! was hoping paper mario but this is absolutely gorgeous!
I've never even heard of this despite being a huge gamecube fan boy back in the day.
Gamecube World Arrow for Smash.
This is literally blowing my mind. You're telling me a system developed 16 years ago can look that good?
it's always interesting finding out these sort of things, i love this series and i hope to see you come out with more within the future
The person in the plane looks like Funky Kong.
I didn't even know that this was a thing. It's interesting how good the graphics look in HD considering how long ago this was made.
I never knew about this? How could People get a hold of this again? Also, thanks for respecting the Music at the end instead of cutting it off in the middle of the epicness.
The Spacestation kind of looks like Roslinas ship from Mario Galaxy
First time seeing this tech demo. Pretty cool!
If you look carefully at 7:20 when mario is in grid mode he turns counter clock and then seconds later he changes the rotating direction, like the ballerina thing. Lol
All I see is a saluting captain falcon in the plane. In fact, I'm almost positive.
its mario with an explorer hat
Wonderful video as always Shesez and congratulations on hitting 5,000 subs. Your style and content is a breathe of fresh air in the saturated gaming scene on TH-cam. Keep it up! P.S. I was totally right that it was Metroid! ;)
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. yeah surprisingly only a handful of people got it the last time
7:35 Im pretty sure taht is Rosalina's comet observatory. At least it looks like it
If I had to guess, I think they made the star stone so the wide array of colors from all the coins would have a bigger impact on the viewer.
this is funny since I just found out about this tech demo yesterday so to see a boundary break about it is really cool
that environment mapping is really impressive
I think the cube became more of a mascot for the GameCube than arrow.
Honestly so many of these features should have been used more in the gamecube / wii days.
4:48 so how do you know the bats are from Super Mario 64?
Ah, the metroid theme. Brings back memories.
I've never seen this tech demo before, thanks for making this.
No problemo fellow Derek
7:25 Now I finally get the spinning ballerina optical illusion
i think the plane was a nod to pilotwings, a game on the SNES, and maybe it was planned for a rerelease for the GameCube, however, that didn't happen until the 3DS, with Pilotwings Resort. Wow I never knew this existed, very interesting to see it!
Also Metroid HYPE!!!
Man, I would say that that Arrow deserves its own game, but the Arrow already has a tv show so I don't mind.
7:36 that looks a lot like the voyager probes. just a little tidbit
Looks like Mario or Luigi in their explorer gear from the Mystery Land map from Mario Party 2 in the plane if you ask me. Granted there _is_ red and green on those costumes, but the texture is so compressed it might have been lost. Might not be, but that combined with the red and green seats in the plane seem to suggest it's one of them.
hey i found someone else that could see it. yep. its mario with an explorer hat
3:26 Me when everybody believes GameCube was released on September 14th, 2001 along with Luigi's Mansion
When was it released then?
with the rock goombas, those actually get shaped and chiseled overtime naturally!
The "space station" resembles the cosmic obsitory...even though the Wii hadn't happened yet
I'd love to see you boundary break more tech demos & alphas/betas.
Who's in the plane? Looks like Santa in a blue shirt.
Foyer is pronounced foi-yay.
After watching this thoroughly, I have concluded that your next video will be about Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! PM me if I'm right.
Damn, it's been years since I've seen this thing in action.
It's always cool to see hidden details I missed.

GAMECUBE is a description of Boundary Break!
3:08 I think it's moogle from FF series
Happy 20 years GameCube!
7:20 I'm seeing an effect like that of the spinning ballerina illusion. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
loved the sprite animation it came out well!
MToaste did a fine job. I gave him my vision and he brought it to life exactly how i imagined
Shesez it looks like jon trons sprite animations which you came a far way with that you have a good animator on your side!
For a Gamecube, it pulled off a lot for its time.

7:36 so THAT'S where that one texture in the Polygonal Chaos area of B3313 comes from
The space station in the texture looks a lot like the Cosmic Observatory to me.
That Space station REALLY does look like the one from super Mario galaxy. I COULD foreshadow it but it's highly unlikely
Remember when Nintendo had creative and innovation while also pushing for strong hardware. Remember how there were amazing games on SNES, N64, and GameCube that also looked really good due to Nintendo having strong focuses on hardware as well? 7:08
well he is a national warrior who has saved multiple royals (not just peach)
I kinda like how there's a Map of Peach's castle. Would be neat.
I'm pretty excited for that Metroid Prime episode.
7:34 OMG Super Mario Galaxy Observatory !!!
Now somebody out there must make a SM64 hack Gamecube render of Super Mario 64 with the models from Super Smash Bros Melee and Luigi's Mansion and probably call it "Super Mario GameCube" or "Super Mario '01" ASAP!!!!
The moving air currents in TLoZ: WW used the bump spiral.
"Peach castel" its vary guood grammor
Am i the only one who saw Mario spinning in the opposite direction at 7:18 ?
One of my favorite episodes!
Wait, is the space station from the Metal Mario room the Comet Observatory from Super Mario Galaxy? It looks like it.
2:53 isn't that the guy from Sabre Wulf?
3:07 ah, so the plane walks on two legs?
The only tech demo I really wanna play.
Didn't even know this existed! Mega cool!
