BMW Z4 | Oil Change DIY | N54

In The Garage today is a 2014 BMW Z4 SDrive 35i. It has the 3.0L twin turbo N54 and I will be showing you how to change the oil. Overall it's a pretty easy process. I think the most difficult part is just getting the car jacked up or on ramps as it sits pretty low.
The other thing worth mentioning is the necessity of the special oil filter housing socket. It's essential for this job and I have a link below to the proper tool.

Why not leave the drain plug out until after you've removed the oil filter? That way some of that may be able to drain out before adding fresh oil.

Thanks. I have a 2009 Z4 35i but have never changed the oil myself. I’ve always had the local European car shop change it for me. As you know it sets really low, and I have an odd claustrophobic reaction when under a car when it’s close to my face. It makes me feel nauseous. Anyway, I’ll check out your ramp video and give those a try. 😀

Mistake is, you should slacken filter housing first and allow the oil which is inside the housing to drain.

Should have loosened off your oil filter first to allow the oil flow more easily and completely from the engine..
