@@Fuh-Qu No planes have a max altitude where their engines can not catch enough air to burn fuel so they lose lift and need to descend to a lower altitude or risk stalling. That and the plane is roughly the size of a large bacteria to the earth so it will not be pokeing out of the atmosphere. Like comeon you can go and play a demo of KSP and you will see how planes work.

Whenever I hear conspiracy theories like this, I always just think, "What do the world governments get from covering this up?".
Billions of dollars goes towards NASA and Space X. There is a huge motivation to convince the sheeple that the earth is a spinning ball in a void moving millions of miles an hour in a sea of nothingness. If space was real the average person would be able to visit it and the elite would waste no time marketing it as an expensive tourist destination.

Yep, since around 500 BC is when we have proof of people using round earth in astrological readings and calculations. In around 240 BC, Eratosthenes was discovered to have made a very clever calculation for figuring out the circumference too, and was only off by a few percent mostly because the earth is not a perfect sphere. 2200+ years ago we figured this out and people still refute it.

My argument against flat Earth is as follows: If the Earth were flat, the edge would be a tourist trap.
Many flat Earthers claim NASA blocks exploration of the edge. Yes, NASA. How would a civilian space agency acquire the authority, funding or manpower to block explorers, especially from other countries? Flat Earthers are not high IQ people.

Believable conspiracy theories require good villains, and as any creative writer can tell you, a good villain requires a good motivation. What motivation do flat earth villains (NASA, governments etc.) have for not only lying about the shape of our planet, but also spending ridiculous amounts of money and manpower to keep up this facade? What do they gain out of it?

I did just that. Now I'm in a "discussion" with a flat earther. It's funny some of the shit he's putting forth. He swears that the surface of the moon reflects the Earth and shows us the continents on the planet. I haven't addressed the issue with him about how wrong that is. I want to see his response to the apparent change in the time of sun set based on viewer height. The burj khalifa is so tall the sun sets 3 minutes sooner on the bottom floor vs the top floor. This single observation debunks any flat plane earth theory out there.

The path of light from a far away Sun to a ground observer could require collision with the ground, and avoid the ground to a skyscraper resident.
