thank you very much for the sheet music for the organ solo !!!!!! this saves me a lot of money ! otherwise i would have to buy this organ solo sheet music for about 150 new zealand dollars from the fivree website from profressional musicians/composers !!!! lol :) i shall go and download this at some stage from your cool youtube video ! :) again thank you so much for all your hard work ! very much appreciated ! :)
An incredible well done work!!!...congratulations from Mexico City....you deserve a millons of visits...but for now... thanks for keeping the music of the doors alive!!!!
Awesome tutorial and with the cool anecdotes. When I tried to learn it myself as a kid, I didn't realise the thirds were there and just figured out single notes that fit, they are a struggle for me to play but still a fun challenge.
I cant thank you enough for these uploads. they've helped me so much this channels fantastic I wish I could say more but this is really something special
@@howtoplayrayskeyboard1344 I second that, Thanks for teaching me roadhouse blues, suprisngly the song was easy to learn! Now my hands are on the wheel and my eyes are on the road! Also doing light my fire as a full would be cool, I just started learning the solo!
Of course, I'm not too Young, (I'm 50) and had the occasion to see them live a couple of time. Great italian progressive music and they're from Milan where I live. Glad that you know them!
Jajaja pretty funny to look my old comment on the video. Thank very much, mate, I have no words to describe how much you help young keyboarders like me to develop Ray and his magic (in the also magic and wonderful world of The Doors). If I can tell you a wish, I hope you can upload some day "You Make Me Real". Figure that there's NO tutorial in the whole TH-cam about that song so you have a big chance! Thanks again!
León Cuba thanks to you! "I don't play you make me Real" that much. Let me first add the ones that I already transcribed and then I'll try also "you make me..." :-)
How do I go about practicing/playing the triplet bits with the bassline? No matter how I approach it it always sounds weird. At best I can do it when the third note of the triplet falls with the third note of the bassline which I assume is wrong.
@@howtoplayrayskeyboard1344 Thank you. Im a music teacher and its exhausting figuring so many songs all the time. Thank you for playing so clearly and providing the sheet music to follow along. You saved me hours and hours of work. From one musician to another, bless you. 🙌🤘🤙
Thank you so much for this. Almost learned it all now. One question though...At 3:05, on the the descending run, you play B and G, then A and F together....should it not be A and F# instead?
@@howtoplayrayskeyboard1344 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I've almost got this solo down. Playing the thirds is quite difficult to begin with but I've just about got it. Thanks again for this video. It was so helpful.
a question to the group...looking to get the Doors (piano) music book and looking for recommendations on best value/accuracy etc.... The Doors Anthology vs The Very Best of the Doors///hate to buy sheet music and end up with a muzak version of the song...thxs in advance...thxs for the channel...cheers
@@howtoplayrayskeyboard1344 . not understanding your question...seems like the anthology has more songs...but wanting to know if the music transcription is accurate sounding...before i go out and buy ..too often the transcription is a pale version of the original...hope that clarifies
miro slodkiYes, I understand you perfectly. That’s the reason why I started transcribing them myself :-) The question is because there are various anthology (for guitar, for various instruments) so if you can link me which ones you’re referring to I can probably tell you what I think of them
Thanks. He did use both hands for sure. At the moment of recording, he already played this song live thousands times. The line is also quite easy (for him :-). A bass player dubbed the lines of Ray in the record however, so what you hear is the bass.
About 40 years ago I transcribed Ray's accompaniment to Robbie's guitar solo to this one. If you are interested in these please reply to this comment and maybe we could contact each other....
@@howtoplayrayskeyboard1344 Thank you. It might take a few days to find it -it is somewhere in my basement with about 43 years of accumulated stuff..I will contact you as soon as I find it...
Yes. It’s written at 3:11 :-) the song is played in A minor (you can see it also from other live version), but recorded a little bit slower, so that it sounds almost Abminor. It’s weird when you want to play in the record. If you have a transposed play it with -1 halftone. In the version you hear here i detuned the sound by 3,5% with Logic Pro.
Hello Justin, I saw it and it’s very good already. You stopped at the 3 against 4, but my feeling is that you only need some more practice. The solo is very long and the challenge is to keep the focus :-) also it would be easier for you to split the keyboard and have s bass sound on the left (if you can). You’ll hear the right hand clearer. Great work!
How to play Ray's keyboard thanks for your input! I’ve split the left hand into a string bass sound and the right is a 60s electric piano and it sounds great. I’ll upload in a couple days.
Urban Grandier if you’re referring to the pitch. The song was played in A minor as you see it here and also written in the book of Ray. The final mix was slowed down around 3,5%, so that it sounds more in Ab. I detuned the organ to match the record pitch: see also my note at 3:12 about it
