    Thanks, I'm doing research to make my dream of living on a boat full time a reality. Looks like the Catalina 30 is gonna be the way to go.

    I just purchased a 1987 Catalina 30 that I will be living aboard. I love your set up in the galley. I am trying to find a way to best fit a mini fridge as well. Do you prefer compromising stove/oven for fridge space?

    • @homeiswherethewindblows6689
      @homeiswherethewindblows6689  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joshua hey there! Sorry for a delayed response but yes we have loved our setup in the galley! We never had the original stove/oven when we purchased the boat so we’ve never missed it ha! But the hot plate on top and pullout toaster oven in the aft area work great for us! A friend of ours has her original oven/stove in its usual place and her mini fridge is under her chart table which is another setup i think would work great! If your batteries aren’t stowed there! Happy sailing :)

    Did they put you on waistlist for living aboard? Because most marinas limit the liveaboard by no more than 10%.

    How much does it cost to keep a spot for your boat at the dock? Is shore power included in the price? (Sorry, boat newbie here)

    Great vid! Thx! What fridge do you guys have? I got the same boat and was looking for a bigger fridge. Actually bought one from Costco on a whim and it didn’t fit. Had to return it. I later measured the space and can’t find the perfect fridge size. If you could send me the model that’d be great 🙏🙏

      @homeiswherethewindblows6689  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Celsones B hey there! So sorry for suuuuch a delayed response - hopefully you aren’t still looking for that perfect fit fridge but the one we have is a Magic Chef brand and we got it at Home Depot. We had very specific measurements and they happened to have one that worked just right. Sorry i don’t have the actual model number, we also had to build it up on a little piece of wood to clear the awkward curve of the space from the gimble. Hope that is helpful and let me know if you’re still looking for the specific model and I’ll try to dig around in our manuals to see if i can find what it is!!

    Just found your channel, I have a C30 1981, I am thinking of removing the storage under the nav table and putting a fridge there, it's kind of wasted space in a GPS world, putting a top load fridge so you open the top of the nav table and there it is, the shelves under are just junk storage anyway above the batteries. I thought of modifying the starboard bulkhead where the hanging locker is, it would open up more breathing space in the vberth for a 6 footer like me at least on 1 side. Good luck, I used to have my brand new 1988 C30 at Channel Islands, miss those days and they are great boats.

    • @homeiswherethewindblows6689
      @homeiswherethewindblows6689  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve AnacortesWA Hey Steve!! I like your ideas. I agree under the back table is not the best utilized space, we added a little shelf to put a toolbox under there, but definitely would be a convenient fridge space. I have also thought about changing up the hanging locker space as we don’t tend to hang much in there anyways. So did you switch out your 88 C30 for your current 81C30?!

    • @steveanacorteswa3979
      @steveanacorteswa3979 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@homeiswherethewindblows6689 No I had the 88 for probably 5 years, had kids and it went bye bye, wish I knew where it was, bought a 27 and had that for 3 years, then sold it and bought this 81, been a lot of projects, did a new trans & flex disc, you can't beat a C30 for feeling spacial, the new C315 has the motor under the stairs so a short galley island, hmm If I cut mine in 1/2 then I could put a shelf cover over the motor that would be easy to lift off to work on it and do you really need 2 sinks? would rather have more counter space and access to the motor area.

    Boats 50 or 60 feet long or big catamarans are not my dream. My only dream is to come to America, buy a catalina for 30, go back to my country and live in this boat until I die. I think it's the most beautiful boat in the world.

      Steven I am glad you found our channel! We actually were extremely lucky in getting our liveaboard slip. The day we called this Marina they happened to have someone drop out of a slip they had a deposit on due to a boat purchase falling through. It happened to be our size and we immediately put a deposit down and moved up the following 1st of the month.
      We are so grateful!

    I like the video and the setup but looking at it I can tell you never go sailing? How long does it take to get your boat ready to sail?

    • @homeiswherethewindblows6689
      @homeiswherethewindblows6689  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It takes about 20 min! But you’re not wrong it’s a little bit of a mission to make sure everything is put away enough for a day sail and a bit longer if we’re going out for the weekend or something. During the initial pandemic shut down we were able to take her out a lot more but work and life has been crazy to keep us away from going out as often as we would like right now. And I can tell you we are definitely not Sail ready ship shape at the drop of a hat at the current moment Ha!
