    7800x3d owners, can you guys write your idle temps and ambient temp for this chip? I'm just curious and want to compare.

    • @n0ex
      @n0ex 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      idle temps are never a good pointer as it all depends on what cooler you are using, only the 100% load for single/all core is really interesting in the end but i can say that the 7800X3D or even could be the whole 7000 series is running hotter then the 5000 series as it hotter then my old 5600X but my 7800X3D didnt tinker anything really just applied EXPO, PBO2 with -30 CO and just put the Thermal Limit to 80 so it never reaches the Tjmax of 89 and it boosts all cores to 5GHz some has been going to 5050MHz and going at it on 1Volt to the cpu while my 5600X did 4.85GHz at 1.4V

    make video in which you open cpuz 2 times to see the cpu voltage and memory frequency, also open Task manager on performance to see that you have 5 ghz there and put in msi afterburner to show all 8 cores at 5 ghz when you are in the game. And you can also share the settings you have in the bios so that we can learn too, even if they don't suit everyone! In conclusion, I want to see 5 ghz on all cores when you can play!😉

    Is this still a good idea to do? I remember a while back it was. With the updated bios and everything to correct the issues, is this still a good idea?
    I have a stock 7800x3d, Asus b650 TUF MOBO. Cooled by a Phantom Spirit 120.
    During all games the hottest it ever really gets is between 70-75°.
    When you bench it, 80s, no more then 85°
    Idle temps 40ish. Generally during gaming 60-65°
    Again, I ask, is this even worth it? There's always risk of instability right? If my rig is stable, and performing great, should I bother?

    • @leizerg
      @leizerg  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What’s your peak cpu frequency?
      One of the main reasons I do it it’s because it’s help me cpu boost from around 4900 to 5050Mhz. Temps are better too but not as much as with 5800x3d.

    • @d8l835

      @@leizerg I'll have to look into it. I'm not at home and don't rember off hand as I didn't pay as much attention to that when I was doing initial testing. I havent had the cpu and board very long yet.
      Generally what should it be around you figure?
      I'm definitely open to making changes as I was a little concerned about all the issues these chips had with some boards and all the am5 stuff I was hearing near launch. But I was hoping it was all fixed by now and I wouldn't have to worry much.
      I primarily used Intel before, and rarely even saw 70° degrees unless under heavy load. This 7800x3d is at or hovering around that in most all modern games. Wouldn't mind seeing it a bit cooler, but that is still a perfectly fine temperature no?

    • @leizerg

      @@leizerg its a couple months old. I see the newest bios as of 06 27 says - optimized boot time so I will try updating. But I dont think "boot" time is my issue.. Its just that it takes a while to post and ram/cpu leds on the mobo are lit up during that time. Which is weird because I made sure my ram is on the mobo and cpu compatibilty list. Ok but if my 7800X3D never really gets over 70c is there still a purpose in doing this? And I dont totally understand the logic... if Im limiting the voltage my CPU can have, how would that improve performance?

    • @leizerg
      @leizerg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      It’s not limiting the voltage is more moving the voltage to frequency curve a bit. This way at top performance the cpu draws less power and is less hot. You should check it your cpu boosts over 5Ghz - if it does then the only benefit you’ll get is cooler system and then it’s up to you if you want to do it.

    • @user-yd7wq1hs2r
      @user-yd7wq1hs2r หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another way to see it is that chips are not all equal and there is a thing called the “silicon lottery” or how power efficient your cpu is given a certain voltage, every chip is different due to small, imposible to control differences at the microscopic level, so manufacturers have a “generalized” voltage that they work with, but it’s not optimal just stable on average

    • @user-yd7wq1hs2r
      @user-yd7wq1hs2r หลายเดือนก่อน

      By undervolting you are “removing the excess voltage” that is not being efficiently handled by your chip, it’s a bit more complicated than that, but doing this you are:
      1. Making your chip more power efficient, there is no more voltage than what it is needed for full load processing
      2. Making your temperatures better, allowing you to stay boosted longer (particularly useful for Intel chips especially)
      3. Extending the life of your processor
      It’s all just benefits really, but there is the effort of having to test around for stability
