Bro! This was sooo simple thank you!! I just got a new beast of a PC from microcenter earlier this week (G471): An i9-13900kf and a 4080. I just did 3 diff tests using cyberpunk (4k on my tv max settings, all RT options on on ultra) loading the same save for 10 seconds and quitting out and comparing CPU temps and here are my finds (package max temps in CPUID HWM shown): 1.Stock CPU on auto: 76c 2.Per you vid on 0.050: 72c 3. 0.075: 69c Before doing this on stock settings i notice some CORE (which i know is normal and diff from package temp) temps went up to 90c with prolonged sessions of gameplay so knowing making this simple lil tweak will def prolong the CPU overall. Awesome video!
It works but the effective clock won't reach the max CPU clock of you lower it below some point. Like mine get to 4.65 if I lower 0.065. If I lower 0.1 the CPU still works I get lower temps but the effective clock loses 200 MHz it goes to 4.4 something.

Time video released nearly caught me out lol i use same cpu on asus b450, so i will be watching out for the asus video 4sure. As a casual user i am interested in extending the life of these components. Unable to change gpu so set fps at 80 and achieved same result. Lower wattage and cooller! Nothing like a "quick n dirty" aye Mike :P Definitely something to consider not only for a cooler, quieter and generally slightly better performance ....... a great reason to save some money with energy costs skyrocketing all around the world ....... except the US who generally have everything dirt cheap and complain if something goes up 1% in price :P
Been toying with undervolting for a little while but with me 3600 theres not much point really but should I get myself a 5800 like I plan Id certainly get this done. I think for bog-standard use then undervolting will be beneficial. Obviously for power tasks like video rendering then it wouldnt be appropriate though. Thanks for the video, Mike and Kath 🙂
the 3600 runs at the sweet spot pretty much out of the box with a reasonable cooler installed, the 3800 and 5800 do benefit a little from a little tweaking

I just built a new (using slightly used parts) desktop with a 5900X, and a RTX 3080, with a MSI Tomahawk MAG 550. My CPU runs around 74-80C during games, occasionally hitting 90C. I'm not necessarily looking for better performance, but rather better temperature. I realize my issue is I am using the AMD Wraith Prism CPU cooler, which is the bare minimum at keeping everything in the "safe range", I really hope this helps!
@@mikesunboxing Hmm... Not the results I expected. I've reduced the voltage by 0.05 rebooted, and got slightly worse Cinebench score, with roughly 1-2 C higher temps overall... My multicore went from nearly 2100 to just over 2000ish, and my single-core went from 1590 to 1500ish. I've reverted it once I saw a temps hit 91C (and turn red) on HWMonitor. When I get home should I try reducing it by more? Do you reckon this was just a random variable? I re-ran the cinebench after reverting and none of my temps hit 90C.
Nothing like a “quick n dirty” in the privacy of your own home Mike 🤣😂😅! I do a small undervolt and overclock on most of my PCs’ as the temp and fan noise (even with an AIO) can be a saviour for your pc parts and your ears 🤯😇.
Hello, i have Ryzen 5600x and set mhz to all core to cpu speed 4650mhz. But after that i have 65-70 degrees in games and all fans is noisy. I set offset voltage ( - ) , 0.0375v. Now temperature is realy good under presure like 50-55 max, but it is good this set to cpu or can use another mhz or voltage. Sory but is first time when undervolt and i am not sure what is okay for performance and safety.

Hi Mike had go at this with with an r5 3400G went with the 0.050 undervolt didn't seem to make much difference to max temperature hovering around 66/67 °C where it did make a difference was the min temp went from 38.5 to 30°C. Cinebench before 4379 after 4598. I left the PBO setting at auto. I did quite a few runs of cinebench just to make sure. Does the 3400G being an APU make it not as capable for undervolting? Might have a go at this on my son's r5 2600 next week and see if this gets better results lol....
When testing different numbers e.g 0.05, 0.075 etc, at what point should you stop increasing this value? In other words how do I actually check at which point the cpu becomes unstable?
Hi Mike, love your videos. I'm using the Ryzen 5 5600 and it runs close to 85-90 degrees on Cyberpunk. 1. What would your recommended CPU Offset Voltage be for the 5600? Also 0.0500V? 2. I've seen others recommend amending the CPU Ratio from Auto to 40. Is this also worth doing? I'm worried about performance loss. Really appreciate your help mate!
mine runs even hotter than that, like 90-95 degrees in 30 min cyberpunk and up to 95 degrees with thermal throttling to around 2.6ghz in 5 mins, I don't know what I did wrong :/

really it is just a matter of lowering it to the point of decreased performance or instability, all silicon behaves differently in different boards, so it is really for you to find the sweet spot

by PWM means it takes reading from the VRM controller while by CPU uses the CPU's reading, try both and see what the difference is, modern digital VRM should make it run cooler, rather than relying on the CPU reporting. no idea really but that makes sense to me
Honestly idk, i just put CPU Core Ratio to 41 and VDDCR CPU Voltage to -0.15. Both HW Monitor and HW Info show 4,1GHz constantly, but Ryzen Master shows that it's changing nonstop (normal idle speeds like 500mhz to 700mhz)

im on the latest MSI bios, under Voltage Setting menu, there is an option called CPU Offset Voltage(-). You can immediately put the desired value here rather than having to do the multiple steps from the video
My 5600, got 5 degrees higher after -0.05. I am very confused, my first undervolt tho... Any tips? I'm scared to use my pc since it gets 90+ degrees very fast.

to be honest i never set a manual all core, as the weakest core might be holding it back

not sure how the internal GPU effects the undervolt, i am guessing the APU can use the extra voltage, but not sure

a320 boards are a little bit limited on the features, but good luck with it

I just did 1 setting which was undervolting to -30 and now my 7600k boosts to 5.4ghz and temps.stay at 80C on stress tests.

sounds very low and likely will stop the cpu boosting to the higher clock speeds

sounds like the CPU cooler isn't installed fully, check the mount and see if that improves

not sure if the 3600 undervolts very well to be honest. reset bios to factory defaults or try 0.025 and see if that is any better

I typed in 0.050 and it auto sets to .800

@@mikesunboxing it is super weird . i typed it in and pressed enter. and it converts to .800 everytime i tried it and my computer wouldnt turn back on so i had to take out my cmos and reset my bios

In my voltage settings there isn't a "CPU Core Voltage"
