    Bro! This was sooo simple thank you!! I just got a new beast of a PC from microcenter earlier this week (G471): An i9-13900kf and a 4080. I just did 3 diff tests using cyberpunk (4k on my tv max settings, all RT options on on ultra) loading the same save for 10 seconds and quitting out and comparing CPU temps and here are my finds (package max temps in CPUID HWM shown):
    1.Stock CPU on auto: 76c
    2.Per you vid on 0.050: 72c
    3. 0.075: 69c
    Before doing this on stock settings i notice some CORE (which i know is normal and diff from package temp) temps went up to 90c with prolonged sessions of gameplay so knowing making this simple lil tweak will def prolong the CPU overall.
    Awesome video!

    It works but the effective clock won't reach the max CPU clock of you lower it below some point. Like mine get to 4.65 if I lower 0.065. If I lower 0.1 the CPU still works I get lower temps but the effective clock loses 200 MHz it goes to 4.4 something.

    Been toying with undervolting for a little while but with me 3600 theres not much point really but should I get myself a 5800 like I plan Id certainly get this done. I think for bog-standard use then undervolting will be beneficial. Obviously for power tasks like video rendering then it wouldnt be appropriate though. Thanks for the video, Mike and Kath 🙂

      the 3600 runs at the sweet spot pretty much out of the box with a reasonable cooler installed, the 3800 and 5800 do benefit a little from a little tweaking

    Thank you sir, I am watching this at work, going to try it when I get home from the office today!
    I just built a new (using slightly used parts) desktop with a 5900X, and a RTX 3080, with a MSI Tomahawk MAG 550. My CPU runs around 74-80C during games, occasionally hitting 90C.
    I'm not necessarily looking for better performance, but rather better temperature. I realize my issue is I am using the AMD Wraith Prism CPU cooler, which is the bare minimum at keeping everything in the "safe range", I really hope this helps!

    • @0Ciju0
      @0Ciju0 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mikesunboxing Hmm... Not the results I expected. I've reduced the voltage by 0.05 rebooted, and got slightly worse Cinebench score, with roughly 1-2 C higher temps overall...
      My multicore went from nearly 2100 to just over 2000ish, and my single-core went from 1590 to 1500ish.
      I've reverted it once I saw a temps hit 91C (and turn red) on HWMonitor.
      When I get home should I try reducing it by more? Do you reckon this was just a random variable? I re-ran the cinebench after reverting and none of my temps hit 90C.

    Hi Mike had go at this with with an r5 3400G went with the 0.050 undervolt didn't seem to make much difference to max temperature hovering around 66/67 °C where it did make a difference was the min temp went from 38.5 to 30°C. Cinebench before 4379 after 4598. I left the PBO setting at auto. I did quite a few runs of cinebench just to make sure. Does the 3400G being an APU make it not as capable for undervolting? Might have a go at this on my son's r5 2600 next week and see if this gets better results lol....

      I would check the cooler mounting and airflow first that sounds unusual for a 3600

    I undervolted my R5 5600x at -0.15 and at 4.1GHz and it sitting like that at iddle. It this normal?

    • @mikesunboxing

      di you set a variable undervolt or a fixed one

    • @shadowhunter6391
      @shadowhunter6391 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly idk, i just put CPU Core Ratio to 41 and VDDCR CPU Voltage to -0.15. Both HW Monitor and HW Info show 4,1GHz constantly, but Ryzen Master shows that it's changing nonstop (normal idle speeds like 500mhz to 700mhz)

      im on the latest MSI bios, under Voltage Setting menu, there is an option called CPU Offset Voltage(-). You can immediately put the desired value here rather than having to do the multiple steps from the video
