@@dmrcflyr2 I would have thought the ignition system would keep the plugs going. I heared of something like that for low idle. But the right cilinder is still keeping cool. Do they have piston rings?
Yes this is a ringed engine. A buddy of mine told me that the front bearing is not an original OS bearing, so someone has serviced this engine before. I have run it again since this video and I was able to get the cylinders within 25 degrees of each other at full throttle. My plan is to continue tuning the engine high and low, running on ignition for another 2-3 tanks and assess it then.
love your new throttle set up i have a similar system on my breakin bench i thought it ran better on ignition but yes it did seem to drop out in the mid range, the only thing i can suggest is can u use iridium plugs , i dont know ii they make them for the os, however i am sure that expertise will shine and you will have this beast singing in no time
Any way to check the valve seats? are you able to perform a leakdown test to see if its the ring or valves causing the issue . pull plug wire on that cylinder while running . it seems to be a dead hole . whats the crankcase temp while running . . you'll get her sorted im sure 👍👍
The only way to inspect the valve seats is to disassemble the engine. I have no leaks anywhere I have checked that. besides as of this comment I have run the engine several more times and things have improved significantly. No the right cylinder is not a dead hole.
Unknown. I suspect this engine has been serviced and it is possible that the rings were replaced for some reason. Meaning they needed break in. That is the issue with engines like this. You really don't know WHAT they have been through or if, how, when they have been serviced. Even good detective work cannot replace KNOWING the true history of the engine.
@@dmrcflyr2 i completely understand people bring me boxs of automotive engine parts for rebuilding, and tell me "it ran good before i took it apart 30 years ago" . 😮👍
Nice engine, and nice t-shirt!
You are the man. You got your new system for a maiden😀🇳🇱
It did seem to work quite well. I like the throttle control thing at this moment.
@@dmrcflyr2 The rod bends when hitting full throttle, so you know when to stop.
Yes, that is a nice fail safe to over driving the carb and servo.

@@dmrcflyr2 Glad to hear it improved. The ring was hung up a bit possibly?

Good day..I had purchased ft300 gemini on 1989...3years ago assembled on Skylink50..still not break in...I will do your procedure...
Could you have a port robbing issue on the right cylinder?
There are no ports on a four stroke engine.
Oops...of course not:/
Could you run a hotter plug on the cooler side? Still love the that engine!
I could but that is a band aid to the real issue. besides, it is running better now. I have run it several more times.
