I sometimes feel like I’m in the minority for liking it when bands experiment (I think I was one of the few that really liked Korn’s dubstep phase)…but I’ve gotta admit that going back to the heavy on this one is nice.

I really, really, really like the new albums. They are amazing works of music. But then you also need your need for dummy thicc to be satisfied... Good thing you can just listen to the same band for that.

I'm so tired of people over-simplifying criticism as "disliking experimentation". Experimenting is fine. As an example, I'm a huge fan of Parkway Drive's early material but I *loved* Reverence. It had a lot that reminded me of old Parkway, mixed in with the catchiness and simple grooves of newer Parkway. Very solid and fun. Darker Still though? Absolutely hated it. Doesn't even sound like the same band anymore. The experimentation is still fine, but the result was bad (in my opinion). That's the thing. People treat experimentation like it always results in good things when that isn't always the case.

      Interesting discussion point...
Sam had a brief chat with Daniel P Carter on the Radio 1 Rock Show, where he expressed that they seemingly are going in a heavier direction from now. He said something along the lines that TCSOABS "humbled" them and that they "know what makes the band special" and they are laser-focused moving forward.
I personally really enjoyed TCSOABS, but it seems that the band recognise that they want to try and do better, and part of that is exploring their heavier side again (not that there weren't any heavy tracks on the last two albums!)
Personally, I'm really glad that this song encapsulates everything that they've been doing over these past few years, but it feels sharper. The hardcore influences, the electronic elements and of course the HUGE chorus (which my god, recency bias I know, but that might be the best chorus vocal of the year - that or jaded by spiritbox). They haven't compromised their sound in any way, and the message and lyrics are concise and powerful.

I think a lot of the reason people are so feral about this band is because they grew up listening to them. Architects have helped a TON of people through so many things in life like depression, anxiety, school, work, all the way til having children and watching them grow up and listening to Architects in the car with them. And when Tom passed, they release Holy Hell and it was damn near one of the greatest albums on planet earth and still is to this day. All of that amounts to an insane emotional attachment to this band and when they completely change their sound, it's almost impossible not to be upset about it. But I agree with you man, some of the lengths people go to are seriously fucked up and it's a shame that we cant all accept that their vision has changed. We dont take the time to try and understand what their reasons for it are, and that's a problem a lot of us have throughout life in general. We are too focused on what we want than what someone else wants. That needs to change but unfortunately I dont think it ever will. I dont like the newer style either but there are 4001991 bands out there that scratch that itch for me. If Architects wants to play celtic folk country, let them.

I love Architects! They are my favorite Band since Hollow Crown and I really felt angry about some reaction of the community.
They helped me through many dark times, and it's unbelievable how people can be so disrespectful towards them on a personal level.
I totally get if people don't like FTTWTE or their new Album but people need to take a step back.
These guys played a 25 Song Set on their last Tour, with lots of old Songs, and it was frkn epic.
In my eyes, this Set was the best example of that they're not just thinking about their new stuff, they also want Fans, that are coming especially for the heavier stuff to be happy.
I saw them 2010 in front of 200 people the first time and watched them last time in front of 8K people. they deserve all of that.

@@Elldar111 I really like FTTWTE because it's a perfect mix between harsh and softer vocals. Their newest album was a bit of a letdown personally, but stil got some good songs. From their previous albums like All of Our gods Abandend us and Holy Hell I only like a handful of songs as I'm not really a fan of too much screaming (just my preference). The high pitched scream singing on the contrary adds more emotion to the song compared to the newer ones.

Personally I think some of their newer stuff is heavier in some ways than their older songs, like 0-10-12 doomsday riffs stopped feeling heavy for me after every single band started doing them so when they do shit like all the love in the world or new moral low ground it just hits harder because they’re keeping unique.
