Appreciate the share on the sources, mann. This same situation happened to me here in Houston TX 10 days ago. Ford is aware, cops didn't even stop by due to it happening & non emergent. 2019 Ford f150 lariat and alarm was bypassed by this same method. My insurance covered it ($2,576.38 replaced with same-used taillights), but raised my monthly payment $40 more, and I paid the deductible $500+. Frustrating because all I do is work and mind my own business, and these fellas just want it fast & easy. It's the sense of security that is taken away because it could simply happen again. I feel yea mann. Honestly, I'm probably trading this truck in once my payments are complete for a beater used vehicle
Sorry to hear this happened to you as well! And I would understand getting a beater. Having a nice truck like these shouldn’t be such a struggle lol happy to share the links and hopefully it helps. I’m considering adding a tonneau cover as well as my friends that have them don’t have issues.
Just so happened to see another video about F-150 tail lights, from Ford tech, he was replacing a water damaged unit that had the proximity sensor. The whole lot came to $5600 including the module, new. At that price no wonder tail light theft is on the increase, the tail gate becomes a bonus for the thief.
I have the same truck, and this just happened to me in February, but Ford gave me a quote for $750 for each sensor! The wanted almost $3000 for the tail lights and sensors. I ordered my tail lights from amazon, and the sensors from Ebay, but they don't work I guess because they are not programmed for my truck. Such a headache. I am so glad that I found your video!
Wouldn’t hurt to throw a clamp around the tailgate connection as well. I had one on my Gen 2 Raptor. Those tailgates can easily be stolen as well. It won’t stop them from getting it but it is a great deterrent.
@@vonlipichracing251 so right now you’re just rolling around with the taillight but no blis module? Sorry for being a pest and seem to be repeating myself
was probably the same garbage trolls that took the lights out of my wife's ranger about 2 weeks ago, was at a big hotel in San Antonio right under the security lights.
On Thanksgiving day, My ‘21 F150 Lariat was parked at a hotel off I-35 in Schertz, TX, and the taillights were also taken. They bent the right corner of my truck flip-back bed cover up (ruined it) and removed 4 of the screws on the access plate that covers the latch mechanism to open the tailgate. They bent it up (ruined it) as they pulled the latch to open the tailgate. Both taillights were taken. Total cost thru Jordan Ford is just shy of $6k! Ford knows all about this crap and is doing nothing to help prevent it. I’m adding the theft prevention screws to the access panel. I already have a tailgate lock that kept them from also taking it. Police shared it was happening up and down I-35 due to all the holiday drivers staying in hotels. I also bought and installed a metal plate that covers my 2 catalytic converters back when I bought the truck. It’s another item Ford knows about though is doing nothing to prevent! Expensive parts and they don’t give a rip.
So sorry to hear they got you as well. Crazy to hear another story of how ford doesn’t care about this problem. Hopefully the theft prevention measures will help protect you for the future.
ford has nothing to do with any of those issues. you stated that they damaged your truck to get the things off even with covers, they probably would have still managed to take your lights. if a thief is going to steal something they will by any means. if someone busts your windows to get in your vehicle to take something you left on your back seat because you have no window tint thats on you not the vehicle manufacturer
They got me on Saturday... SW San Antonio 1604 and I35 area. Thanks for the video. Going to beef up security on the truck before I go visit daughter in college again. These guys need to find a real job.
Is it only the BLIS lights they are stealing? I've been looking at new f250's and if so, I know to avoid the BLIS taillights. I currently have a 21 fx4 stx f150 without BLIS, and it sits outside every night. So far it's been left alone.
Yes from what I’ve seen so far it’s ford trucks with the BLIS taillights. You can try the anti-theft methods but they aren’t 100% successful. Non-BLIS taillights might just keep you safe.
Rivet the inside bolts, use torq screws on the other two, with the anti-theft option like your kit came with. Proximity sensor, 2 way 360° camera for security. My Lariat Ranger FX4 has the same lights as the F150 and 250s. My truck is murdered out, looks like a fed truck with K9 unit markings. We live in Tennessee, not as bad as Texas apparently.
Happened to me in New Braunfels, they came into my apartment "secured" parking because the gate has been broken for months. $5000 to replace needless to say I may be suing my apartment complex for gross negligence.
When the first 4x4 Toyota truck came out in the 70s. We parked in a mall parking lot ,shopped for about an hour and someone stole the front sheet metal off it. Hood and two front fenders...called the cops and no body could believe it
i got a 22' and it just happened to me, but they only took the passenger side because i have a damper on the driver side. im gonna add a damper and a bed cover.
The tailgate cannot opened by inserting a screwdriver into the round hole in a remote release tailgate; the release handle is in a different lower location from the hole, I know because I tried to open my F-2019 150 Limited tailgate with a flat screwdriver, finally I removed the eight T-25 screws to remove the panel and this found out.
I was able to figure out how to unlatch each side with a screwdriver... surprise..I need to cover those damn holes on the side.. also sealing the tailgate cover on with high grade sealant.
Same happened to me. Twice! First time I went through insurance. Doing it all myself for the second. They cut my wiring too. I had to research how to fix that as well!
At least they unplugged the tail lights. Somebody stole mine this morning and just cut the wires so I have to get a new wiring harness as well. Freaking thieves in San Antonio.

Mine were stolen last night '22 Ranger sitting in my driveway. Have a bed cover and they yanked it up breaking the bedcover latch on one side then removed the tailgate panel to access the lock and open the tailgate 🤬
Should I catch the sorry sacks of poop out my way - similar to Cat-Converter gangs. I've got something even better to maintain my property: Mr. S&W, which handles all types of security issues. Yes, S&W is also a family business, like the tailgate locks! I say, bring it out my way; it will be the most expensive tail lights they attempt to steal, especially if it's on my property. Thanks for the video bro.
I would’ve cut that tab off inside the tailgate when you had that panel off, and I would’ve unbolted the latch bolt on the truck and sandwich that tailgate plate behind that latch bolt fit for me
I just bought a low mileage (58k) 2016 F 150 XLT, heated seats and navigation, specifically avoiding the panoramic roof, 10 speed transmission, and BLIS tail lights. All are issues that Ford knows about but will not address. $5k for tail lights is ludicrous.
One good reason not to buy these trucks. If it was me, I'd just get aftermarket tailights and perform a sensor delete. I sure as hell wouldn't give FORD any more $'s.
It happened to me 2 weeks ago in San Antonio as well. I don't blame Ford, that would be like blaming me for it- we are both victims. But the hotel i was in and police didn't seem to care. Ultimately it is the bad people doing bad things.
Even if you have video evidence, police aren't going to expend resources on stolen property. A determined thief will bypass your mods in less than 30 seconds. Those taillights are the new catalytic converter. Highly valuable and can be removed in seconds. Look at the bright side. At least you're not driving a challenger, because they just take the entire car.

@spiderskateg correct. Tail lights and turn signals work just don’t have the blind spot light working at the moment. No worries! Happy to help.
Do I need a blis system cause I have a blis system and want aftermarket non blis lights will it throw codes
Sorry for your loss but man that’s a stellar mustachè. Lol
Haha thank you much!
What year trucks? Thx
2015 and up F150

Any rattles after installation?
Not at all. New tails have been perfect. No issues at all after driving with them for a few weeks.

Now they just remove 4 bolts on the tailgate access panel and lift it to get access to the latch, so this device is useless.
Yes but that takes them a little more time. Ultimately having a camera in the cab pointed at the back would be the most helpful.
