- Painting Tulip Flowers with alla prima techniques and Heritage acrylics. Tulip flowers can be difficult at times, especially the soft low contrast tulips. David will show you how to paint these Parrot Tulips using Open Medium and Extender Medium to vary the working time of the acrylics and to precisely control the streaking of the petals.

I love tulips - they are wonderfull in all states - and I really love your way of showing your flowers as breathing, moving joy of color and light. Pure beauty and joy - I could not catch the names of your standard palet - and I am curious, I missed the second yellow ( just after the Hansa yellow) - maybe it was yellow oxide? Maybe somebody can help? 🧡💗

It just struck me that the best thing I am learning from you is discipline! So hard to stop painting instead of stopping and thinking about what I'm doing. Beautiful tulips!
It is very hard to stop. Really helps though. I switched to thinking as few a strokes as possible. Hard to break habits though!

Mr. Jansen your free flowing tulips are very beautiful. Think I will attempt without a pattern and on a smaller canvas one day. Although, parrot tulips would be fun as well. Thank you for another great lesson!
