Next week I want to paint this painting. I LOVE the palette you used. I think these roses are breathtaking. Btw I just completed painting my old carry on suitcase with white daisies among other things. Thanks to you I am able to paint daises without a reference photo. All I had to do was draw variations of ovals and only one circle ..lol
I used your colors and they popped. So much fun!! I am painting them with confidence because you taught me well and WOW they popped and no longer all look the same. I had to trim up a few petals since they were not within the oval. Your oval sketching technique works like a charm. Pretty sure John Singer Sargeant would be proud of my daisies in that I used minimal strikes of the brush resulting in a mighty impact. Whenever I do mess up I always remember that it can be fixed just like you said. It is interesting to me that sometimes it only takes one brush stroke to correct something....but that stroke must be done with confidence. I now paint with more confidence/swifter due to your tutorials. I can now paint with the same level of confidence as when I draw due to all the techniques I learned from you. It is so much fun to paint now!! Thank you.

All my flat brushes are pretty worn and I have new ones on order. In the meantime, I've done a bit of searching with no luck: Do you have any videos of painting roses with a filbert brush?
Hi Teri, You have to look before 2017. I painted all roses back then with a filbert. They new lesson I just put up 2 weeks ago used the filbert. I will do another one this week. Of all the brushes the filbert is the most versatile. I used it also on my latest dog portrait. Here is the link to the new rose video. ABout 8 minutes in I describe why the filbert is the best brush.

Can i do it on canvas in same way or we have more thick layer of gesso before start??
You could, but you will still fight the weave of the canvas when doing the details on the flowers.

I love roses and rose paintings - and especially White roses - and Ijust love the play of light and shadow and the play of sharp and soft edges. I wish the sound in your video had more strength - and I suppose its not. My IPad since its not a problem when I watch other youtube videos - there I often lower my sound - but the contrary with yours. 🙂
Our sound is set to TV standards. 10 to 12 db. There should be no problem hearing it. It must be a setting on your IPad player.
Hi Mr Jansen. I have a request. In a week my aunt will turn 95. She is teaching me bird watching. We recently identified a hooded oriole. It's a lovely little bird. Is there any way you could decide to paint a hooded oriole? I would love to paint her one.

Hi David. You keep painting “white” roses. Wonderful! But, they’re all affected by the direction and type of light (hue) that you choose to use. Does that happen every time one paints? I’ve painted roses before, and as realistic as I try to make them look,…they always end up looking “cartoon-y”. Not much like yours.
Your edges are probably a little too perfect. I had that trouble when I first started these styles. Thank you so much 😀

TH-cam does it for us, but it takes time for them. We get request for 40 languages. It cost $300 per language to have a translation of a video. Just too expensive for a free video.
