Yup! A true gem of the '88 line. Also played a big role in the later IDW comics:

I vividly remember the 1988 toy line from Hasbro. I had several of them. They were cool but what I liked most was the ease of transformation. Many of the earlier ones were too difficult for a little kid and broke too easily. The 1988 line is made of sturdier plastic.

Indeed! Once you see how much was included in the Japanese range, you truly see what a year it was.

I appreciate videos about these later years as 1988 is when I got out of toys originally at the age of 12. Motu had ended, and the Transformers cartoon was in perpetual reruns. I still bought the comics, but that wasn't enough for me to get the toys. I thought the Seacons.and PM Prime were cool, but never bought them. I wish back in 1987-1990 Hasbro had imported the japanese series and had the original voice actors dub them. Years later as an adult, Masterforce is one of my favorites, and I get any Generations toy from that show.

I totally would have loved to see an imported Masterforce cartoon back then too!

I seen master force way back in 1995 in México, and It was poorly dubed in spanish, but at least i get the chance to see the autentic and original cartoon, unlike the rerun special, this series gives away all of the mistical and technological aspects that the new season has to offer, 88 was wild and crazy, that's why i love it

Never managed to get an overlord. 1000 aud was too ricn for my blood. Picked up the fans hobby one on release and no regrets. Gotta rewatch masterforce this year. The end of the jg1 anime and toys were an awesome period and nice lead up into brave/yuusha.

very interesting. not going to go into my reasons why because its long but i got out of TF's shortly after the release of The TF movie and never really went back to it other then to get favorite characters over the years but even that was limited so to see this history is pretty cool.
