I use N540 with 77gr scenars and 75gr hornadys. From 16" and cheap brass 2720fps but from lapua brass I got 2790 without pressure marks but it I keep it around 2720. Just got some 77 TMK to try and I already took my longest mag (HK) to have the longest COAL just barely fit in there.
... just started breaking in a new .223 Rem (1:7) with 75grn Hornady and 80grn SMK and N540 and its producing some really decent groups, despite the new barrel and brass. Hope the testing delivers!
I’d run 24.4gr and play with your seating depth. 002 neck tension. That’s what I run. I have a tikka with a 26” preferred barrel blanks, stainless barrel.
Per the research done by AMP and others, the brass returns to its fired hardness after sizing. So I don't think annealing is the root cause, might be wrong though.
Looks like a nice bullet to hunt bigger game with. Personally I would get a different front rest and get rid of bipod…. Jumps too much. You have a good bench! Target a little big for 100 Yards. What type of redicle? How often do you clean the gun? Is it a custom barrel ? Might be a 150-200 Yard hunting bullet?
@barrydeacon3551 a bunch of guys on the forum have used it on antelope and deer out west with good results. The gun was custom built with a proof research barrel, scope has an EBR-7C MRAD reticle. With the suppressor on I don't normally go over 200 rounds before cleaning. Without the suppressor I wouldn't be afraid to double that. I always clean it before I start testing a new projectile or powder just to eliminate inaccuracy variables.
Dump that sensitive 8208 and load with TAC. 24.2 gr @ 2.255 gives me 2925 out of my 1-8 26" White Oak Precision barrel and at .4 moa from my precision AR build
What was the pressure like? Were you towards the upper limits? I’ve got an 18 inch one 1-7twist WOA and I’m trying to build a load for it. Was hoping for 3000fps
@turnerables 3000fps with what grain bullet? 69? You won't see that from an 18" with 77gr pills. I'm getting 2925 from my 26" using 24.2gr TAC. Pretty much a MK262 clone using the Sierra TMK's, so it's definitely on the warm side.
"They would have been through the same hole if it was a Tikka with a an SWFA scope." -Some Rokslider probably.
I'll blame it on the shooter😂
My Tikka Varmint 223 likes this combo as well running 23.6 grains of 8208 and the TMK's.
How deep are you seating them measured to the ogive?

Dude! What a gun and bullet. I think that’s great.
8208XBR and the 77TMK is a great combo in my 223. It's too bad 8208 has been so hard to get at the moment.
Haha that’s awesome never seen one just pop up on end. Safe to say that round ain’t playing

Sweet!!

Brother, anneal every time and test until you find a stable load. Much better consistency.
What range did you shoot the gel at?
Little under 100 yards

@trevorteague8430 8208 is one of the more temp insensitive powders. I've used it in 308 with good results from 95 down to 10.
@thelonggunner762 no it isn't. And it pressure spikes real easy at the upper end.
@@trevorteague8430 We wouldn't be testing the "ROK Slide Special " if we didn't use 8208 😂
