Thank you for the review! Last weekend, I traded in my amazing 2022 CX-5 for this 2025 CX-70 PHEV,mainly because the amazing incentives Mazda is offering right now when leasing, got over $10,000 in incentives, which really brings the cost down, plus I paid less than MSRP.
I have to say that this is my second Mazda, and I cannot be happier with them from a performance and reliability perspective: these vehicles are a blast to drive (automatic transmissions, no CVT), get decent fuel economy, and my CX-5 never had any warranty issues, never in the shop other than regular maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations). So, I would definitely recommend Mazda to anyone.
The jury is still out on this CX-70, because I am only 1 week into my experience, but Mazda hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
Note: the CX-70 is nearly identical to the CX-90 which had some early issues with transmission shifting issues, but it appears these have been addressed in 2025, since mine performs really well.

My daily drive is a Mazda, let me tell you guys this is the car you need if you are looking for reliability and getting from A to B. IF you got the money and dont want to drive your muscle car/luxury/whateverfastcar or just looking for a reliable car no issues ever then buy any Mazda from 2015 and above and trust me they are as reliable as Toyota if not more but cost less and a lot less if you are buying a used one with not much miles on it. 200% would recommend having one.
The only bad thing about them is that they are so reliable that you wont visit the garage to see the beautiful BMWs getting fixed lmao.

I have this ride. This Mazda has a “charge mode” that will prioritize the gas engine vs. the battery, in case you want to conserve the battery miles for some reason. It caveat is it’ll have a negative impact on your fuel economy.

How do you activate that? It’s super easy on my X5, but no control I saw did that.
The impact on mpg would be very insignificant though from my experience.

There’s a button with a “lightning” emblem, just below the “MI-DRIVE” toggle on the center console…. This is a Premium Plus model right? I have the Premium-Plus.

@@PaulHunt-ur8wj that’s just a charge target control, it didn’t do anything with holding the battery charged. I tried that. It’s a setting for when you plug in the vehicle.

Sorry BROS, that’s incorrect. Charge mode, when pressed, uses the engine to charge the battery. Look at the owners manual, 5-23.
“The engine is used as a generator, and the vehicle is driven while charging the high voltage battery”

Now I haven’t used it myself so I can’t speak to the intricacies involved in day-to-day driving using charge mode, but that’s what that button does.

The drive train that you described does not exist from Mazda. The only options are a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) with a normally aspirated 2.5L four cylinder engine OR a Mild Hybrid (MEV) with a six cylinder inline turbo engine. You should take this video down and replace it with one that has correct information.

I said an inline cylinder turbo engine just like you said was an option..
