i work at a national guard armory, just a month ago they threw a bunch of old rations away, wish i would of got some for you but i just started watching your videos a few weeks ago. But ill def get my hand on some in the future, so if you want me to send them your way ill message when i get them and you let me know. Thanks again for your videos they are the best!
np bro, i found out that every so often they clear out stock and get rid of everything, next time it happens ill be sure to grab them, im kicking my self i didnt but hadnt been interested in mre's till i found your channel. They keep the armory stocked with them cause every few months or so they have drill at my facility and the supply officer provides them to the soldiers.

I've never had a real interest in military rations, I did try a newer enchilda one last year and I was blown away at how good it actually was but I never thought about it again. And then I stumble on this channel and now I'm looking to try rations off ebay, for no real reason. What have you done to me???

Seems like these sea rations are usually just a bunch of candy.
They don't want to induce thirst so that's pretty much all you can eat. They just try to get nutrients and calories in you.
I cannot conceive of a single reason to downvote one of these delightful videos, I just don't get it..

I've never even tried a simple MRE but it's so fascinating to learn the history of them. Don't ever feel like you shouldn't go into the history of things or feel like you talk too much. We love it. I served on the U.S.S. Truxtun (CGN-35) and when we were in the dry dock for a short repair cycle, the command ordered all of the life rafts to be removed for new ones of the day. We took the old ones and set them in a line and pulled the cord........80% failed to properly fill. BAD NEWS. and all of the rations were rancid......I managed to grab a salt water sea still......

I'd be worried about eating extremely old stuff like it was nothing. You don't know what kind of toxins and poisons became of the chemicals etc in that stuff. Gum base is the same today, it's usually colored. The last time I remember having chiclets that color inside was about 17 years ago.
I'm not sure eating plastic was the biggest risk.
The plastic is wood based so its not gonna kill you.
In remember real gum. We had Beech Nut, in UK until 1980s. I seem to recall.

this reminds me of eggs they eat years later in Japan under ground , this is cool I like this guy he has guts , he ate hard tac from civil war that was crazy , in a way it's like you are with them at a certain time keep it up you are cool.

Him opening anything with that key and roll mechanism is so satisfying and makes everything inside even cooler. Even if you’re not a smoker, or coffee drinker, after watching Steve’s channel for a bit you will want to smoke and get instant coffee and some chocolate.

The BEST tray layout to date complete with twine in upper left corner.
They have had World War two cans of water found in bunkers and it was perfectly fine to drink and people tried it. It was even cold because of where it had been stored to distribute to the services. People said it was just cold refreshing water. Just an FYI a little more information. :-)

A word from an "expert". Before you open any "Survival Kit", period...Place it in your refrigerator overnight. It will decrease the "Stickiness" tremendously.
