- The MRE burger beef patty menu is better than ever - in 2024 it was issued as menu 19 twice for case B. Replacing menu 21's main and keeping the sides the same. This is way better than tuna - the spicy jalapeno and pepperjack cheese burger patty is one that just about anyone could enjoy. This menu has the all new apple pie spread component - that was in the prototype CCAR and now it's finally in mass production. This menu contains 1,400 calories - a higher end caloric value for a US single meal ration.

It's such a weird main meal.
The only thing I'd swap is the mayo for a cheese, but it's pretty obviously they're going with things people like. The bread was pretty underwhelming and you're not packing a good sandwich bread into an MRE so torillas are the best option. Break it into two logs for each of your wraps and you're in business. I really liked the torillas since they're just like you'd buy at the store. Throw in some cheeseits and candy for later, that's a pretty solid MRE.

One of our group experienced a medical emergency, one of the symptoms of which was that he was hyperventilating. Just about the first question the EMS paramedic asked us was whether he had been drinking wood alcohol or anti-freeze (he hadn't). Struck me as a dumb thing to do then, and my opinion hasn't changed.

I just ate this one last week. Not impressed. Mine came with the patty, tortillas, BBQ sauce, mayo, bacon cheese spread, oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, peanut M&Ms, and au gratin potatoes. The best part was the cheese spread. Mine did not have the apple spread.

Tortillas plus the cheese to make a bacon cheese wrap is the goat. Tear that meat block in half and stuff them in there and you got something half decent to eat.

Pretty sure he got a weird packaged mix-up. Mine had bacon cheese spread. Normally you can make a decent cheese tortilla with them and stuff the patty in for something half decent.

They include torillas because no one liked the snack bread, which was good. No shame in wrapping a log of meat in a torilla and devouring it. That and the apple spread on the poundcake is probably amazing.

This MRE seems so unpractical. Messy to eat out in the field without a tray, way to many packages, no item to eat fast in a combat situation or easy save later that is not a bag of mush (where is the energybar?) wtf is that low fat mayo? and NO COFFEE???? At least trow a pack of that freeze dried Colombian in there.
I do envy the flameless heater, but at the same time you would still heat water for coffee anyway for those dehydrated meals. This one is an easy trade away for me.

Nah, this is fine in the field. Mayo goes on tortillas, that's mini meal one.(Its easiest to just break the tortillas in half rather than trying to unfold them.) Main can be eaten right from the packaging, hot or cold, mini meal 2. Cheese its and reeses are snacks, perfect for leaving in a dump pouch. Pound cake and apple pie juice can be either included for calories or removed to save weight. If you have time, you can spread the apple pie juice on the pound cake, if not, you can slurp it. Pound cake is pound cake.
Remember, this is NOT something you eat day after day. This is something you take in a backpack for 12 hours of energy, or a couple of them for a few days. We have UGRs for longer term operations in environments too austere to support an actual kitchen and cooks.

Its clearly meant to divide into two mini meals if needed - (1)Mayo + Tortillas, (2)the beef patty, then the snacks of the reeses, the cheese its, and the desserts are for calorie additives or can be removed to save weight.

Even though it’s a pretty lackluster combination of things, MRE’s just need to provide calories, carbs, and electrolytes to sustain a soldier during combat or when he’s away from a mess tent/chow hall. There are 23 other menus and honestly they all seem better than this one

@@raideurng2508 To maximize the nutritional value of an MRE you are supposed to consume all the contents. After a day of pushing your body in combat, you likely will not be saving your cheezits and m&M's for a midnight snack.
In my opinion the Chinese MRE showed far more sustenance than the highly processed and chemically induced foods included in this US ration. RFK jr. would be sick if he saw our latest MRE. One thing is fixing this in my opinion, and that is voting for Trump 2024. God bless. 🙏 ❤️

@DraftySatyr Compare the the previous video which is the PLA type 20 ration, today MRE look actually vile. The type 20 significantly improved on what it predecessor did wrong, improve packaging, better FRH, more varies menu components, balance nutrition, and most important of all, not spoiled.
It crazy how much improvement the PLA did to it rather, compare to the US MRE which somehow after more than 100 years of making ration for it soldier, manage to create this junk of a menu. There is no vegetable, no coffee, no hot sauce, no condiment other than *mayo*, no cheese or peanut butter, just apple sauce, not even salt or pepper. it junk food and a questionable beef patty n tortilla.

This one looks like drunk food I'd make when I'm drunk and then puke later and forever barred from enjoying green gatorade / reeses pieces without remembering why.
If you cut up the meal like a sort of burrito it seems ok like you did it. If I'm just a boot though and I get a hamburger with 2 tortillas, that's what the hamburger is going to be. hamburger in between 2 tortillas with some lunchables fillers in between. Probably toss the mayo too because I don't normally eat it. So now my calories are going to be off.

Honestly the Chinese 20B MRE looked more like an actual meal lol. This is like the adult version of lunchables but the components don't even fit together to resemble any actual menu item. It's like a parent asked their kid what they would put into an MRE and this is what came out lol.
That being said I probably still would really enjoy this if I had it. But if I had to guess if you gave this to someone who grew up outside of the US, they'd be confused

This MRE seems like a MESS compared to the Chinese MRE vid I just watched. This is a LOAD of hyperprocessed/refined carbs and sugars, every single part of it... besides that spooky meat puck. Vs the chinese one provided a variety of actual fats and proteins and fiber and less processing, much better meal, more interesting flavors vs this pile of sugar and salt and artificial colors.

At this point they've already cut too much cost in brain power to even realise this is a joke. The lower cost of this ration i think is a byproduct, not an intent. I don't think I have seen one that was from the same year he ate it before, I think the closest was the previous year.
I love Steve's mindset. He releases one modern American and one Chinese ration so we get an idea of what the two sides are eating.
Which makes it all the more of a stark comparison. Seeing the PLA have a solid ration like that. Whereas ours is a plate of junk food with a McRib patty, candy, a colored drink and no coffee. "Sustenance" indeed. What a joke.

Food gore with junk food lol I can’t believe this is government food
This might be the most disgusting looking MRE I've ever seen. I would be seriously depressed if someone handed me one of these to eat. It was gross to watch that brown "juice" spill out of the pouch onto the beef-flavored sawdust patty. No coffee, a bag of thirst-provoking knockoff Cheese-its, and that low fat mayo...who thought this was a good idea?

Even though that MRE looks horrible to eat personally, seeing Steve eat always makes it great to watch nonetheless.
