What I'm surprised most about is that a 1920's can of soup had no metal contaminants. That alone is amazing manufacturing right there.
When my Grandpa died, I helped my uncle clean out the decrepit old boat that sat derelict on the side of his house since he bought it in 1949. Among the oddities I salvaged was an unopened jar of Miracle Whip, dated from 1952. The contents has fully separated into three layers...a viscid, jaundice-yellow oil, a fluffy cloud of greenish-grey goop, and a thin layer of waxy, ash-grey scum. I kept it around as a novelty for about a year before I chucked it. Wish I'd known then about people like this fellow...I'd have gladly offered it up.
