Thank you for pointing out how most mobile homes floors have a few layers just slapped on top of rotten layers of floor! Just like you can't put a new band aid on an old rotten band aid without treating the wound, the same goes for these homes roofs walls and floors!

Thanks for detailing how to replace the floor in sequence. I have a 1979 subfloor with a lot of soft spots, cover by a 1979 floor wcich is covered by a new semi-composite floor. That will have to deal with some day when I can afford it...
I too desperately need help. We thought we could do it on our own but inflation and serious health issues has us still living in a home without floors. Our plan is to replace all of the subfloor in our extra long, single wide trailer and after putting inexpensive linoleum on top. The trusses are good. we just keep trucking and hoping to get to a place where we can hire a contractor to come in and get it wiped out quicker than we can do it ourselves. Sadly, we cannot afford the material let alone the skilled labor. It takes. Not at the moment anyway.

if the plate supporting the wall has deteriorated in a section, black and spongy from water, would you replace the plate section or put new support beneath it and leave the bad wood in place? I don't know how it can be replaced when it is currently bearing the load of the wall

My parents RV resort park was destroyed by flood waters that reached above the skirting on hundreds of park models. Insulation, ducts, flooring, cabinets HVAC all need replacing. I am helping my parents here in Port Richey FL (they are dealing with health issues in Syracuse). I need advice on the best way to coordinate contractors for all that has to be done. Floors, walls, cabinets, HVAC etc.
I’m in Nc so not to sure how I can help but I wish you luck. Call your local mobile home supply store. See if they have any contacts for people that work on mobile homes.

Glad you like them! Advantec flooring. If you go to the building supply and you say what is the best subfloor that you can use they’ll probably lead you over to something similar to this.
Between the rooms by wall. Why can’t you put the frames of woods as 2x6 before you put the plywood under the wall to hold the wall up. As I got mobile home. I don’t know how wide it is. But know length is 74. It’s 1983 mobile home. As I need to repair the roof first before anything inside. Thanks for your video of your hard working. 👍🏼
I have a soft spot/hole in the back corner of the closet. I have a contractor that just put the flooring over the hole. Now when you step there it shows it is not reenforced.
@ got one in mine I seen other day for first time when replacing insulation even though it doesn’t have central HVAC Must of been installed in all of that time so u had the option

Well, originally it was water damage but what they did on this particular house was they added way too much weight on the roof. They literally built a roof with two by sixes and 2 x 12 and plywood and everything else without any support.

They put lipstick on a pig. Just want my kiddos safe. Things are so expensive. Thought about doing regular batting and then rtech board to the floor studs in the crawl space? Or probably a bad idea? Something is going on under your house. It sounds like you’re getting moisture so it sounds like possibly that the underbelly on your house might be in bad shape. The only real way to fix that is to remove the floor use advantech Flooring, you can buy it at Lowe’s or Home Depot. They have different names for it. Vantex maybe. It sounds like somebody took you for a ride not sure how long you owned it but as soon as I seen something like that happening, went back to the seller or the real estate.
I was working on my girls trailer and I was fixing the sunken subfloor and was wonding wtf. Why is this wall like this. Iv done floor for 10 years only residential for 3, mostly hardwood gym floor and synthetic running tracks. But that was the first time i seen a flooting wall.
I work on mobile homes for a living. I've seen countless floors in the same condition. It annoys the hell outta me how they build walls on top of the floor without any joists underneath. Walls begin to sag and it's a pain in the ass getting them level

I helped replace the floor like this years ago. It was a super pain in the ass trying to get all those nails out and that glued particle board loose. Hammers, chisels, & pry bars and a whole lot of blood, sweat & 😭 tears
that aint shit i had a camper that had aluminum floor joist if you could call them that 11/2x2" corroded from water had to glue and screw 1/4" aluminum some had to replace 2" to water tank to subfloor replaced particle board with plywood was too thick but made it work covered with vinyl ill not work on another camper
Need to ask is it better to leave that belly band under the floor there or does it trap moisture . I know it is there to hold up the insulation , but I have also heard people say it is like a wet diaper on a baby , Is it better to remove it or leave it . The place I am referring to has a basement under it
I’ve never really heard of a double wide with the basement, but if it has a basement, then you could probably get rid of it but in my case, I do not have a basement and if I removed it like I did that exposes the truck line for the HVAC to blow air through and it will start sweating because of the temperature under the house so you might wanna close that in

What material is the belly to hold the insulation of the subfloor ??
It’s called Mobile Home underbelly you might be able to buy it at Home Depot but you probably be better off buying it at a Mobile Home Supply store

We don’t do house flipping or mobile home flipping but we do rubber roofing so maybe you just need us to do a roof for you
