      @@Drewsroofingandhomerepair thx I’ll look through them tonight. I’m getting conflicting placements on where the bottom of the toilet flange should lye, on the top of the sub floor or on top of whatever is the highest floor ? Some videos have in middle of top layer

      @@NatureRocks. You can absolutely do it. If it's replacing subfloor, you may need a man to help you pull thr nails out of the joists. That for me was the hardest job of all. Be sure to accurately figure out the thickneof the subfloors you are matching with. Oh, and measure twice, cut once. Good luck

    Very good job, thanks because I'm about fixing to have to repair some floors on a mobile home i bought for my grandson. Very good price for it even though I'll have to do some repairs and a new metal roof! Better that paying $78,000 to $100,000 for a new 16x80! Paul, I can't believe you do that job with no knee pads, lol, OUCH those joists would hurt.

    I would like to ask about how much does this type of repair tend to cost? I have a broken window which has been leaking for a while and now i want to have the subfloor gutted and refloored with proper plywood & vinyl plus needing the toilet & pipe to be fixed too? With my work schedule I just don't have the time to do it myself. So I thought I would ask.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I charged $900 for the bathroom that was just for the part that you seen us do everything else would be extra so if you have to buy a new bathtub a new vanity, a new toilet probably looking at about $2500 doing it yourself

    • @Speckled_Butterfly7206
      @Speckled_Butterfly7206 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Drewsroofingandhomerepair ok thank you so much. Thankfully not as worried about the tub, if it can be avoided, and our vanity is still good ( no signs of the damage reaching that far) * fingers crossed* but definetly thank you for the estimate. At least I can be prepared for what a contractor might say. Thank you for the videos too. Its giving me a better understanding of what has to be done.🙏

    I own a '77 single|wide but I live out West, in Northern Nevada. It was actually manufactured in Southern California though. And it's a lot colder in the winter here than in SoCal. My heating ducts lie just under my subfloor. There is no insulation between the ducts and the subfloor. And under the ducts in the underbelly, it's just crammed beneath the belly board. I'm wondering if the location is why.
    I've never lived in a trailer before. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I laughed when I once heard you say, "you never know what you're gonna find" once you open it up. Just when I think I understand what's going on, I come across something truly crazy. Like um, the toilet that was relocated to the center of the heating duct... That's just one of the innumerable problems I've discovered. I don't open a can of worms, I open trash bins of snakes. Big ones too!
    And in Nevada there's a manufactured housing division of state government, which requires any contractor to be licensed by manufactured housing. Great concept, however it completely prices me out of any reputable and affordable work. No one will even help me, except idiots who are unlicensed. Essentially requires me to perform all my own repairs. I don't know how I'm going to get the porch detached from the trailer. Yes, literally bolted into the side of it which is pulling it down. I'm basically f*#ked.

    Probably the only thing I would have done differently would have been to use pressure treated 2X4s under the outside wall and the bathroom/ kitchen sink areas just in case of future leaks from frozen lines .
    My boy also likes those star/torque screws ... Me , I like the square better . They seem to power in a little better and stick to the bit better when you dont have both hands available in certain areas.. But both are better than Phillips... i just ude them on thin soft wood....

    Never give a contractor up-front money "for materials". Any contractor worth his salt has "net 30" accounts wherever he gets his materials (meaning he doesn't have to pay for the materials for 30 days after he gets them). If he hasn't done enough work within 30 days to pay for the materials, then he's worth less than nothing, no matter how big the job is. It's fine to pay them for work-completed in stages so he can pay for the materials and labor, but that should happen AFTER each stage of the work is complete, not before.
