for me its like “songs to listen to at almost 10 at night after youve almost drank an entire bottle of water and youre barely awake enough and your eyes hurt and your vision is slightly worse because you didnt put your glasses on”
I think the song is about having a nightmare while dying, when someone's brain just stops working correctly, but the nightmare nonetheless continues, so it starts pumping out disturbing surreal imagery and this dude's brain tries to makes sense of it, maybe?
Wow, this is surprisingly accurate. This is one of the few songs Neil has directly commented on the meaning of, and its essentially exactly what you said.

@@BaronSterling Oh! Fun fact, he talked about this one on the commentary track for the album! It’s about someone who’s sick at home in their apartment while an extremely wild party happens in the next apartment over. They try to sleep and the party noise bleeds in and gives them nightmares!

You're at the party is such a creepy, strange, psychologically terrifying song, and I love it, and this lyric video fits it amazingly. EXCELLENT job, dude.
I choose to interpret this as the experience of realizing that Neil Cicierega has been a presence in your life the whole time, and you're in that sorta state where you're like. taken aback and a little bit horrified at the fact that one guy could so thoroughly inform your tastes, make you who you are in a sense... but you never even knew he existed. You find out that you were always a fan of his before you even knew he existed. A place you've seen before indeed.

Another word for party is “celebration”, and another word for celebration is “rally”. So the party is the protagonist rallying before he dies.
I have seen people die before (I work in a care home) and I'm curious as to where you've gotten this from since Ive never seen anyone become more stable before they die. That being said, a lot of dementia patients can get crazy hallucinations and this song makes me wonder if this is what they feel
Also, that line about "you want to cover up your eyes but they're already shut so tight"? HORRIFYING. I've had the same nightmare before where I try to cover my eyes from looking at something gorey or whatever but it's burned in my brain and my eyelids just aren't enough anymore

I'm gonna interpret this song as someone just having a really weird fever dream because they're sick. The party outside informs their dream. (You are delightful, this isn't a nightmare), and even at the start, you can hear premonition (the background sounds saying 'wake up', which could essentially mean stopping the addiction before you're too invested in it.) Then, you realise that once the effect of the drinking / drugs etc is gone, it wasn't worth it, you can start to feel the effects of addiction. The sun isn't rising (possibly a metaphor for getting better, which won't happen as the sun is not rising.) The birds are dead (the birds could be a metaphor for hope.) You begin to realise that you're spiralling into an uncontrollable addiction. "You need a drink" is quite blatant, notice how he uses need instead of want. Toward the end, he continues to repeat that it's too late and the addiction has gone too far, and that there is no hope of getting better since you've already been invited to the party.

(Wake up) You're not alone
(Too late) You've been invited
(Wake up) You're at the party
(Too late) You're not alone
(Wake up) You've been invited
(Too late) You're at the party
And you notice that the Sun's not rising and the birds are dead
There's only dust on the floor where people were before
And the dream won't leave your head, it won't leave
You need a drink, half-empty bottles in the sink
Down the drain, sudden rain outside alarms you
Hour hand's gone and now you're feeling strange
Now your hands grow strong, your fingers long and your face, your face begins to change
You're mesmerized, you want to cover up your eyes
But they're already shut so tight
A whisper in your ear
Only you can hear, only you can hear it
Eyes shut tight, never open up
Too late...
Too late...
You've been invited, you're at the party
It's a place you've seen before
(Too late) You've been invited (Too late) You're at the party
(Wake up, wake up) And it's a place you've seen before
You've seen before
A place you've seen before you were born
Before you were born
Before you were born
Before you were born
(Too late) You've been invited
(Wake up) You're at the party
(Too late) You're not alone
(Wake up) You've been invited
(Too late) You're at the party
(Wake up) You're not alone
(Too late) You are the uproar
(Wake up) You are the party
(Too late) You're not alone
(Wake up) It's not a nightmare
(Too late) You're at the party and you're not alone
mfw i go to a par
occasionally, when i'm doing something, in my head, i'll hear "Eyes shut tight: Never open up" and this'll be stuck in my head again
This song reminds me of how agoraphobia feels. One thing can send you for a loop and suddenly you’re padlocking your doors
What are these comments on about 😭 This is my favorite Lemon Demon song. I just always thought it was a song about someone turning into a werewolf and partying with other werewolves. What the fuck I'm going to cry
This is absolutely fantastic and I feel like this is exactly how Neil intended this song to feel like. Amazing job!
for me, the video was ahead of the lyrics and that really added to the experience
This is so beautiful
I love this song so much rn
Wonderful work! You've captured the mood of the song perfectly.
The subtitles look like you pushed a dendy cartrige only in half and every thing is lagging.
This songs gives me the weirdest of core vibes
dis beautiful
this song makes me feel like stuff isn't real but in a good way because I usually think jotting is real but suddenly the stuff that isn't real is real
FANTASTIC !
the timing is Perfect, the effects are Perfect, this is. perfect :) !
Thank you so much!
i think i just saw hell, 10/10 great video
Perfect music video
Thank you so much!
No matter how "creepy " this song is, it's always a vibe
Edit: I probably shouldn't be listening to this at 3 am
Oh my gosh I love the imagery in this!!! Gives such an eerie and disturbing feeling, this really fits the song, thank you!!!
I love the little detail with the house's window. Very good!
I still don't know what the song is exactly about, but I think that's kinda the point.
You somehow managed to perfectly capture what a nightmare feels like, Bravo
