While he is definitely being toxic and has no right to treat her that way… let’s consider why he might be doing that … inferring from the post it can be surmised that he’s also isolated due to disability and doesn’t seem to have family or friends and is entirely dependent on her. He is also suffering. It sounds like they both need help.
They should look into insurance for hiring caregivers to help the wife, accessible home/vehicles, therapy maybe, because it sounds like he suffering from intense loneliness, powerlessness maybe? among other things. And that it’s taking a toll on both of them.

Honestly with the first story, Op did so much for her husband and when she makes one request that isn't that unreasonable he immediately vetos it. Like how selfish you gotta be to say no when the person who does basically everything for you makes one request. Only response is for her to find someone else to take care of him and divorce his butt. Cause while she cares about him, he clearly doesn't care about her or what she wants.

    • @ButtonsCasey

Honestly, the best thing for the both of them, is to put him in a group home, with people with similar disabilities. He is too far into himself, not learning and growing, being waited on, hand and foot. As iron sharpens iron, so one man can sharpen another. If not willingly, divorce him and dump him there anyway, and leave him to his fate. A wife is not a legally bound slave for life.

    • @adamsteiff98
      @adamsteiff98 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I’m not trying to argue or say you are wrong. I absolutely agree he is being way too unreasonable and controlling.
But I also feel a lot of it is coming from frustration. That the same way she feels trapped having to take care of him. He probably feels similarly to being trapped in his chair. She’s not the only one who isn’t getting to have a social life and I think he just also wants to be able to spend time interacting with other people as well. Everyone, even the disabled would go stir crazy always couped up together the way they are.
However you are right. he is going about this in completely the wrong way and he’s going to lose the one good thing he has if he keeps it up.
Hopefully he can learn to communicate better and maybe they can come up with a way where they can both get to interact with their own friends

It seems like a toxic relationship as she can't even go to another room alone for long and can't even have one night in with her friends without him checking in on her. I agree with the fact she should get a divorce. If it continues like that she could have mental health issues from not getting to do anything alone if she doesn't already.

Story 1: I’m wondering if the husband doesn’t want OP out of his sight in case she decides she can do better than him. He doesn’t realise treating her this way will be the very thing that does drive her away.
Story 2: well done OP for putting it back on the golden child brother.

NTA to all four of the stories.
    1. Just because she takes care of you 24/7 does not mean she is not entitled to her own time with friends. I bet if it was him wanting his friends over shed say yes and let him have his privacy. He's using his disability to take advantage of her.
    2. She did the right thing. I want kids in the future but in no way will I expect them to take care of me, especially if they have their own life and kids. The brother is also suffering from favourite child syndrome and being an asshole syndrome. No contact is the best option here.
    3. That was not an appropriate reaction. It was like he made her wear the dress knowing what she would look like in it to make fun of her. I suffer from body confidence so if someone did that to me I would break down right then and there. Everyone in that story (minus sister) is an asshole.
    4. That's a good husband. He trusts wife which is a good start to a healthy marriage. Leaving that that photo up may seem petty but it serves them right for being so horrible to a women who had no choice when she became a sex worker to survive.

As someone who is also disabled in a chair this makes me so mad. The least he can do is let her see her friends. My mom is my full time carer but she still has her life too. I appreciate all she does for me. She needs to get someone else to care for the husband.

Absolutely agree. My mother looked after my sister full time because she's disabled to the point she never developed past a baby like state (she can't walk/talk, has no comprehension of anything, she's like a teenage sized baby) and has been that way all her life. I used to say to my mum go out with your friends you deserve a break I'll take care of my sister. It can seriously depress people who have to continuously care for someone. This husband sounds like the most selfish and ungrateful person ever, makes me feel sick.

    1. NTA. I know the husband has a disability, but it doesn't mean the world revolves around him. OP needs some privacy and wants a girls' night out. It wouldn't hurt.
    2. NTA. I really hope the parents didn't sell the house and didn't take advantage of them. Why can't the brother take them in and take care of his five kids.
    3. NTA. The husband really destroyed OP's self-esteem. Why can't she choose another dress, so she wouldn't be made fun of.

For the first husband, I can understand his insecurity and complete dependence on his wife, and the attachment issues that come from it. It is better for the wife to encourage her husband to meet his friends as well. Once he starts venturing out of his comfort zone and finds his own things to do and people to hang out with, he can easily be on his own without any worries.
Also a therapist for him would make his situation much better.

She definitely nta in this scenario.

that husband in story 3 is a real jerk. Marriage should be about having each other's backs (you are team family). So the wife did her part by wearing the dress he liked and he beyond failed by making fun of her. you should never make fun of your wife/husband especially in front of other people. she did the right thing by leaving.

  • @ASHEXXED

Being in a wheelchair does not make you incapable of being independent unless it’s not just your legs that aren’t working/are missing but also your arms. Either way you are not going to die if they leave you alone with the tv or whatever to keep you busy. Literally if the reason were that he was worried something might happen to him in another room, or needed something from her and she didn’t notice, he could just ask her to keep the door cracked open so she could hear him good and went to do his own thing around the house. But no! The only “reason” (really not a reason it’s just him *supposedly* taking it the wrong way) is that he thinks she’s asking this because she’s annoyed with him when she literally just wants the human right to privacy?? Honestly even if she were annoyed and that was the real reason she would still be valid.

He’s using his disability as an excuse to be a butthole and control the wife, playing the victim just because he’s in a wheelchair. He married her to be his slave, not a wife. Disabled people don’t let their condition limit them from being as independent as they can be. He needs to work on his issues around his disability, and the wife should get rid of him.

    • @Hanamanini

Ummm disabled people have faults too…. It sounds like they’re both suffering from loneliness and isolation. She said they both can’t leave the house and relies on her fully. Neither of them have many friends over either. That’s hard for anyone to handle including people who have been born with it.
The best thing to do would be to try to get the insurance to hire help for caregiving, figure out how to help him get out of the house more if possible (maybe they don’t have an accessible vehicle), therapy maybe etc.
He probably married he because he loves her and they’re both struggling as marriages have. He probably just has poor mental health and they’re in a difficult situation as affording the proper care is hard and many people don’t even know how to start that process.

I disagree on the one who blocked the parents. The parents are wrong for assuming and shaming and the child does have the final say, but at the same time, the attitude of the child is ugly to the extreme!
No people should not get pregnant with the sole reason of having a caregiver, but it is also natural and right that as the parents care for their children at their most vulnerable that the children should be willing to do the same. On both sides the motivation should be love, but if love is not the motivation it should be respect.
Also, this is something that should be discussed and considered long before there is a need.
Also, the narrator has the nerve to word things like her brother chose to have five kids and that was irresponsible of him. ⚡️News flash⚡️
People have a strong biological pull to be intimate which produces offspring, so no, that is an unnatural and harsh way of thinking of her brother. What the brother could do that would be better if he has any financial problems are not paying for a nanny and private schools too. That seems a bit irresponsible on his part.
I see where they are coming from with it being the son’s responsibility to take them in over the daughter’s, but that doesn’t make sense because it would be the son’s wife taking them on rather than her husband who goes out to work every day. If it’s a matter of room though, that makes sense.
In the end, the parents really are wrong to be demanding it of the daughter since they didn’t upbring her with a love for them and an agreement along those lines and she did at lea pay them back and offered to find them a place to live and to oversee that.

The real thing is my mom saying that we're all going to get water bottles with filters in them and not waste money on Nestlé anymore (should be to not pollute but okay)
She ans my dad got bottles off Amazon and a new attachment for his cane and then before finalizing it she told me I needed to pay for my water bottle or get one from work (the place I work at doesn't sell those types of water bottles) then I asked my dad about it a couple days ago they got their bottles last week this day and he said "I honestly can't give you an answer I don't know" like wtf do you mean you don't know yes or no or I'll buy it myself (they're not trying to take me to the store to buy myself one I can't drive either because I don't have a license and my car needs new tires) I haven't drank any water in a couple days I drank all the tiny bottle yesterday that were 10 ounces but I'm still very dehydrated shown when I use the restroom and they don't care I can't even order one online to get here in time and I work all week and the ones at work you have to pay for and I only have enough for one bottle I cried over this but is it even worth crying over I don't know what to do

Oh no that's absolutely terrible! How could someone just let you get so dehydrated? Maybe try talking to someone at your work for getting help about this

In the first story, anyone deserves to socialize and not just taking care of their spouses. Even though he's disabled, but he shouldn't depend on his wife 100%. 🙃💁‍♀️
For the second story, what kind of parents who expect their child to give them what they want? They don't deserve moving in or communicate with OP when their sole purpose is to take advantage of them. 🙄🥱
What is wrong with the people in the third story? So judgmental! Is this what OP gets for dressing what the husband wants her to? 😒😠
By the way, Kyutie, you are so stunning today! I love this video and don't forget a sweet hello for Coco. 🤗☺💞🌈🎀

    1. It sounds to me like both of them are isolated & bored. To explain….he is entirely dependent on her, if she’s not seeing her friends he probably doesn’t have friends/gets to see them either. I think there’s definitely issues both ways as he complains about the bathroom. Sounds like they need help / resources to improve their lives. Disability is very hard to deal with but it does justify the wife being yelled at and pressured…it really sounds like they’re both suffering.
Why can’t he leave the house? Is it not accessible? Can they not afford caregivers to help the wife? Does he have friends that can be invited over as well? There’s not enough information really but neither of them sound like asshole truly. It just sounds like they’re struggling by themselves.
    2. Retirement homes are scary. Similarly to the first story they have to make sure they’re safe and that they’re mental health isn’t suffering. However her parents absolutely shouldn’t have dumped that on her & they sound mean. They should have worked together to find a solution that makes everyone happy.
    3. The husband and his friends are definitely absolutely the assholes. They’re literally laughing and pointing like 5 year olds & mocking them. Jokes are fine but that’s literally bullying since he knew full well it would hurt her.
    4. I think the person is being kind of an ass. I think it’s understandable that they’d do that but it’s very petty especially after all this time. Holding on to grudges like that doesn’t help. I appreciate that he sticks up for his wife though. She didn’t deserve that. ❤
