I remember being in grade school growing up on Oahu, my mother would take me to the airport to watch planes take off and land, what a blast. I left for college at 19 and flew out on a United 747 at night, talk about a rush. Ive made this flight into Honolulu for 40 years now, I turn 60 next year. Wow, where did time go. Watching this vid stimulated so many memories of growing up on Oahu. In high school a buddy and me would go fishing off the reef runway haha. The view flying in and out of Oahu, just beautiful.
I'm glad you and so many others find my videos helpful in that way. It's never something I thought about or intended when I started doing this, but you and many other people have have left comments like this. So many people use them for reasons like this, and I'm just really happy they can be used like that. Thanks for watching everyone!
I think of my first trip to Honolulu in 1972 when I was 6. It was this brand new jet called a 747 flown by united. Now that the 747s last jet rolls of the assembly line in just a few months I reflect on that great jet and all.my hawaii flights on that queen of the skys.
I've been flying this route in the oposite direction in May 1990. Honolulu/Denver/Chicago in a DC 10-30. It was roughly one year later after that United DC 10 flight 232 crashed in Sioux City Iowa and those two heros Captain Glenn Haynes and the instructor Danny Fitch saved dozens of lives while manouvering a big aircraft only with the thrust of the engines. All hydraulic systems were cut by an exploted rotor from engine 3. At that time i didn't knew anything about it and that was good. I read the whole story including a long interview with both pilots in a seperate book back in 1999. 9 years later. I get goose bumps still 32 years after.
Thanks for a wonderful longhaul flight Skylite. That's some decent leg space there. Opinions about Boeing usually fall on polar opposites but one can't deny that the company has made its mark on human aviation history. The 747 and now 777 are legendary.
That's true. I'm not a huge fan of the 787, but that's mainly because of the lousy dimming windows haha. I love the 777. I'd fly one on any route. I'm glad you enjoyed this upload my friend!
Thank you for sharing this long-haul flight. Yes, the 777s are nice to fly on the Hawaii trips. I have flown the 777s from Chicago to Hawaii a few times as well.
See next time you can have First Class to get the extra leg room and so that you ca lay down. On those long- hauls flights you do need some time to take a nap.
@@sla31 You will find some who will sponsor! Don't worry about that!! You will because there are so many companies right who are looking for customers service people to do product searching on items.
Thank you for posting another long video! I just came back from a flight myself. Also, I was talking to someone whose spouse will be flying for the first time soon, and she's (understandably) nervous. I recommended your TH-cam channel as it's helped me with my flight anxiety. ☺
It's always my pleasure! I have another long flight ready to post too. A 747-8 from FRA-JFK that is longer than this flight. However, I'm still waiting for TH-cam to finish processing the 4K version of the file. Hopefully that'll be ready soon. I'm always happy when people enjoy my content enough to recommend it to other people! And I'm glad they're able to help you and others with your anxiety towards flying. Thanks for watching!
Yes! this is totally awesome watching these full length long haul flights,it's great to view such flight reports that have not been edited to the max,re the video's running time length.,i tend to watch your flight reports in our mid-later evening's as it does in fact help me unwind & relax before bed.Your flight reports that i watch on my desktop pc monitor are so life like, and are so real i feel that i am on this flight too!.I've been to Honolulu a few time's but from New Zealand though a 9 hour flight from Auckland NZ.
I’m glad that’s how these videos make you feel my friend. That’s my goal when making them. To make them feel as close to being on the plane as possible, without you actually being there. As if you were sitting in that seat inserted of me. As you mentioned, I try to edit them as little as possible to help achieve this. So I’m glad they’re achieving that! I hope to visit New Zealand someday!
I used to live just outside of the former Barbers Point NAS down below on final approach to PHNL and spent some of my summers on Barbers Point when I had an uncle who was stationed there during the mid 70's and early 80's.

I'm surprised no one pointed out the 2 different engines on the 777 at the beginning. Let's experiment today, maybe thrust ratio from a 787 on the left wing counters the original on the opposite wing. Haha either way both are GEs.
My dream is to visit Hawaii but I know it will probably be a super long flight from where I live lol. JFK airport and LGA airport are about 25 minutes away from me.Technically the Republic Airport is closer but that's a different type of airport and it's super small.
Yeah, you'd be looking at a 10+ hour nonstop flight on Hawaiian. Longer if you connect somewhere else first. That is the downside to Hawaii. It's really far out there.
Hi. I love your videos! I have a question: What are they doing with this "fog" in the beginning on the wings? I mean, the video is form summer, or not? So it can't be de-icing?
I’m glad you enjoy them my friend. It was indeed de-icing at the beginning. I posted this video in summer but the date of the flight was in early March. Still very much de-icing season in Denver during March. Thanks for watching!
and i thought i was the only one who played the long haul flights to go to sleep....all this time I thought those black converse shoes were high tops...but no, they are low tops.
Yeah, always low tops. I have PreCheck so it makes no difference in the US, but there are a lot of other countries where you don't have to take your shoes off in security unless they are high topped shoes. So, I've always gone with low tops for that reasons.
I can tell their power setting are at the minimum. The airlines are watching their pennies. I love those sandwich bags unreal. I remember when they brought you a nice tray and all the food laid out nice. Now it's like flying an airline in a 3rd world country it's sad what airlines have become. My Dad worked for United and has long passed he would of been so upset to see how they treat people now. It used to be lots of leg room give them a good meal no extra charge and dont charge for luggage and make sure every seat has a pillow.. They have brain washed passengers into getting screwed.
Welcome to the world that you created. Not you personally but your country. Dont get me wrong. I love America and what it once did for my country ( Berlin airlift 1948 ) but it was the American way to make profit for the stock holders on the back of the workers and passengers.
It's just me. I'm a one man show here. Everything you see on the channel, from planning trips, taking them, filming, editing, uploading, etc. It's all just me. Which is why I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to watch, comment , like and subscribe!
I'm not 100% sure. It's too early to be the landing gear. Honestly, what I think is most likely, is someone close to me dropped something like their phone on the floor and that's the thump you heard. I think it's juts coincidence that the wing dipped a little at that point.
It was a game the crew was playing. They gave everyone some info. Time we left, how fast our speed was, etc. And people could guess what time they thought we'd hit the halfway mark. Someone guessed it within about 1 minute. I don't think there were any prizes or anything. Just something to help keep people occupied.
That is an excellent question. One that I am currently waiting to hear back from TH-cam on. When I woke up this morning, I had a myriad of comments and messages, asking me the same thing. To which I replied, I have no idea what you’re talking about…. Clearly I am not doing this myself. The descriptions, when I write them, have no lines through them. And none of my 2200 videos had this problem until today. My channel is big enough now to have a TH-cam representative assigned to it. I contacted them, asked them what the deal was, and they were unable to answer the question and have forwarded it up the chain to other people. Right now, our best guess is that some type of update that TH-cam ran is causing their system to read the text differently than before. Anyway, at the moment, the only way for me to fix it, is to individually go to every single video I have ever uploaded, and manually retype everything…. Which frankly would take months. So, at the moment, I’m waiting for TH-cam/Google to see if it can be fixed so I don’t have to do that. It’s not supposed to be that way, and it’s very annoying, trust me I know. But at the moment I don’t really have any better option than to just wait and see if TH-cam can figure it out.

This bird has been flying for 24 years now. I can tell by the streaks on the wing. Wonder when they'll retire this one.
Great fly! Have you heard FAA clears the Boeing's 787 Dreamliner clearance to restart the deliveries? What do you think?
I did hear that. Definitely good news for Boeing. They needed some good news.
