    This is flight 2 of 33 from my recent trip where I flew around the world. At the end of September through the beginning of October, I set out to fly around the Earth, and after 16 days, 13 airlines, 33 flights, and over 38,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 13 different countries. Over the next 9 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey, exactly as I did! The flights will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until all 33 flights are live! So, check back three times every week to take this incredible journey with me!

      @@FattyFPV well I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a lot of fun doing this, but what good would it be if I just kept it all to myself. Looks like you went over New Mexico and that looked like the Grand Canyon there. And that looked like Mono Lake and Yosemite Park.
    Now, I feel jet lagged from watching your video. While I rest up, I'll continue with the Lifetime movie Deadly Exchange. When a movie has Lindsay Hartley as the heroine, you KNOW that the Lifetime movie psycho will plot against her. This keeps happening to Jessica Morris and Alicia Leigh Willis too. I guess some heroines are destined to have their lives disrupted by the movie villain. Last night, I watched Abduction Runs In The Family and sure enough the Lifetime psycho plotted to destroy Jessica Morris' life.
    Anyhow, another fine, Super-Fantabulous video on your part. Keep wining those Olympic Gold Medals and keep focusing on getting that $10 million prize at the end.

    Great fly! Man that wing is rusted...

    • @sla31
      @sla31  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well, if it was rust the plane wouldn't be flying anymore haha. What you're seeing is leftover oil deposits from previous maintenance issues or fixes that didn't get cleaned off completely. It then gets dirt and debris in the lil that then streaks down the wing making it look like that. Regardless, it's not a good look for American. But they're also hardly the only airline to have planes with wings that are dirty.

    I've always wanted to see the interior of the Int'l Arrivals concourse at HNL ( 7:10:25 ). I believe I see they how they separate domestic vs Int'l pax w/the escalator to the upper level. I can't get over how inadequate the food choices are, esp for a 7hr flight. Be well, Bryce.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah, that is indeed how they deal with inbound International passengers. most of the gates in terminals C, D, F, and G can be closed off and used as international arrival gates where they close off all the exits and funnel everyone upstairs and over to the immigration and customs facility. Fun side note. United's daily flight from Guam to Honolulu (UA200) is treated as an international flight, despite being a domestic flight because Guam is outside of the US Customs and Border Protection Agencie's normal zone. Making it one of, if not the only, domestic flights in the US where passengers have to go through customs and immigration when arriving from another US state or territory. Which means you get to see all of that when taking that flight too. That said, you do not need a US passport to take the flight. You can clear customs and immigration with a regular US government issues ID like a drivers license. Add this to UA200 also being one of the few flights you can take on January 1st where you can celebrate New Year's Day twice makes it one of the most unique and interesting flights in the world.

    • @TheFamilyman7
      @TheFamilyman7 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well that's quite interesting. I wonder if Puerto Rico travelers are handled the same? But as you said, Guam, as far as you know, is handled that way. And the int'l dateline phenom on New Years Day is a bit of a mind-bender.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheFamilyman7 as far as I know, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are not treated the same. They are so close that they’re in the “normal” CBP zone. Guam is the outlier given it’s so far away and it’s the only of the three territories in the Pacific with flights directly to the US. American Samoa and Northern Mariana Islands do not have flights direct to the US, not even Hawaii.

    Oh cool, I had been wondering about this exact flight as AA via DFW flies a ton of A321LR's on this route don't they? With much fewer options for larger aircraft that I have seen on their site. I would rather a widebody like the 777 unless you tell me different. Thanks again!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as I know, the A321, even the NEO does not have the sufficient range to operate this route. I’ve only ever seen it operated by the 777-200 or the 787-8/9. Now from Phoenix, and Los Angeles it’s pretty much exclusively A321NX’s

    • @sla31
      @sla31  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So this intrigued me so I looked some stuff up. On an absolutely perfect weather day, the A321NEO in the way American has theirs configured would just barely be able to make this flight. And it wouldn’t be able to do it with the required fuel reserves or any passengers 😂. Or at least they would have to be heavily payload restricted. So, you’re probably thinking of Phoenix or Los Angeles. I do not believe American has ever operated A321’s on this flight.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So, I could but I don't. And there's a reason for that. My channel is intended to be as pure as possible. No fluff beyond what you'd see out the window if you were in that seat instead of me. I don't add any music, narration, obnoxious transitions, text, maps, anything. Now would a map be obnoxious? No, it wouldn't. But it still goes against what the core purpose of my channel is. Pure aviation and as close of an experience as possible without you actually being on the flight with me. So I don't add anything on screen which includes maps, compass headings, speed, etc. This is also the reason why I don't add ATC to my videos, which is another thing that is requested every once in awhile. With the exception of some of United's fleet, that's not something you'd have access to as a passenger looking out the window either. Thanks for watching my friend! I hope that helps explain why I don't do that.

    A fine video, but anyone who can watch 7 hours of flying over clouds and water is a glutton for punishment.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Believe me, I get it. When I started this channel 10 years ago I had no intention of posting 7+ hour videos of flights. I was doing short takeoff and landing videos, mixed with spotting and time-lapses. But, as the channel continued to grow I kept getting more and more requests to show more and more of the flight. And over time, as I started to do that I noticed that the longer the video was, the better it performed. Which again, surprised me. Because I love aviation, but I don't have time to sit and watch a 2 hour flight, let alone a 7 hour flight. But I kept testing the water with longer and longer flights, and every time they performed better and better. Over the years, that type of video overtook the channel to where I now post 3 unedited, uncut flights, every week. The other 4 uploads are still shorter takeoffs or landings. So, even for me as the person who runs this channel, I still find it hard to believe that videos like this... 7+ hour videos... Are the best performing videos I post. That said, I do have some explanations for it. Over the years I've obviously gotten a lot of comments on videos like this that can help explain why they perform so well. A lot of people watch these videos for reasons you might not think of. And here are some of the reasons why people watch them.
      First, they're simply aviation enthusiasts and they enjoy watching long flights. Ultimately that's kind of the core demographic my channel was initially aimed at. People who just love aviation as a whole. But, all these years later I think that's actually one of the smaller demographics who watch videos like this.
      Second, people watch it because it helps them relax or even sleep. I get tons of comments on long videos like this from people who say watching these long flights helps them de-stress, relax, or even puts them to sleep. Maybe they like the white noise. I get a lot of comments from people saying they need the white noise to sleep but the simulated noise you get from a white noise machine doesn't work. They want the real hum of aircraft engines with the background cabin noise. Or the just want to watch something they find interesting that they don't really have to think about. They just watch the scenery change.
      Next, I get a boatload of comments from people who watch long flights like this because they are terrified of flying... They hate flying, but have to fly sometime in the future for a wedding, funeral, graduation, medical treatment, etc. Ultimately it doesn't matter what they have to fly for, but they do. And by watching my videos of flights from start to finish with nothing cut out, lets them expose themselves to the entire process of taking a flight from the comfort of a setting they choose. It allows them to pause whenever they need to. Ultimately helping them get on a plane for real. I have gotten thousands of comments over the years from people thanking me for my videos because it helped them get on a plane to see a relative one final time, or helped them get on a plane to see their new granddaughter, etc.
      Other people comment that they watch these long flights because it helps them get through their work day. They're in a job that allows them to have something on in the background while they work, and they pick a long flight like this, 7+ hours, because they can put it on and glance over every hour or so and the scenery has changed. Basically they can have it on and it's interesting to see the progress of the flight, but they don't have to dedicate a ton of mental capacity to it. And it has the added benefit that when the flight is almost over, so is their work day.
      I also get tons of comments from people who can no longer fly. Usually a medical issue prevents them from flying. But they still long to travel and fly. So they watch my videos, because it's the closest thing on the internet to actually being on the flight.
      Others say they watch it for its ASMR qualities. Now, I have to take their word on this one because they certainly don't have that effect on me, but to be fair, I don't think anything has that effect on me haha.
      I could go on, but you probably get the picture at this point haha. There are literally dozens of reasons why people watch. Most of which are never reasons I ever considered when I started doing this. It just goes to show that everyone is different and unique and there's no one reason why certain content is gets popular. But that's the great thing about TH-cam. It allows creators and viewers the ability to make and watch that niche type of video they enjoy. Anyway, thanks for watching my friend!

      How old am I on this flight? Usually people want to know how old the plane is, or when the video was filmed 😂. I’m 34, and will be until July.

      Good old American for you. You know wha they say... That plane isn't making any money if it isn't in the air.

    Why do the planes that you travel on always sounds so quiet during Takeoff? From my experience, its usually more loud and noticeable.

      Those forms, that they don’t even really keep track of, is the sole reason I always keep a pen in my carryon 😂
