- Today I cooked a MONSTER pork butt on the @NapoleonProducts Prestige Pro 500 gas grill. I used the Napoleon smoker box accessory to generate smoke for this pork throughout the cook and the results were excellent! With a three or four burner gas grill, it is quite easy to do indirect heat low and slow cooking!

“Hmm, man there’s nothing wrong with that” might be the best Southern compliment ever 😂😂😂😂
I have the same grill and followed the process very closely. The results were great; best I have ever done with pork. Thanks!
Awesome I’m gonna try this, I love this grill
Great Job John , looks very good . I'm going to try one in my Weber Gas grill never even thought of it. All ways use My go to master built electric smoker. I got a Butt in the freezer.
Interesting mods in your video. Love the simulation of an offset with your smoker box. I'd do a pork butt in my offset but am seriously thinking about picking up a Napoleon to replace my older gas Weber.
You’re making me hungry and,,,,,, I live in the greater Atl area,,,,,,I’ll be right over.
Them flies look mighty tasty
They add extra protein to the dish
Great video man! It’s 2 am and I’m starting my first smoked Boston butt on the same grill. This really is helping me walk through the process. Game day later should be a hit! Thanks Jon!
Awesome! let me know how it comes out!
aye dude how did it come out
What was the temperature difference between the grill gauge and your ambient probe?
Looks good
I have the Napoleon Prestige PRO 665 RSIB. Thank you for the video as is gives me insight.
😉
YOU PAID $1,100 MORE FOR JUST HAVING A BUILT IN SMOKER BASKET YOU ARE A MORON 😂😂😂😂😂.
I believe he did not trim the fat cap. Is that necessary or not?
I had great results with my pork butt on this grill in May (Memorial Day). Now I plan to do it on Monday which is Labor Day. Since I really like the bark, what would you think about cutting the butt in half, exposing more of the outside? I realize that I am losing the bone-in taste in one of the halves, but I want more bark and I wouldn't mind if the cooking time was shorter. What do you think? thank you. Tom in NC.
I have the smaller napoleon rogue 425 with 3 burners. I only used the one on the side and had great resoults. The only questions i have is that the wood chips i used burned realy fast in 30-40 mins. Is that normal?
Can you just leave the smoker box lid off?
Looks amazing !! How much propane did you go through using the napoleon grill for this pork butt ?
all i can think since he didn't answer is, you better have a brand new propane tank to start with for sure!
@@bowesman1000 Yes, I have a Napoleon and have done many butts, it's always good to have a FULL propane tank when doing this. wtf
@@bowesman1000 yea, but he only used 2 burners on low. If you own a home you should always go natural gas if you can. It's not too much to run a gas line and no more worries about an empty tank.
everytime you raise that lid you need to add 30 more min cooktime.
What you are using for spritz the meat ???
Wouldn't putting that on the rotiserrie helped out a little?
When you say you put it in the “cooler” you mean resting a room temp in an enclosure right? - with no cooling factors.
No... right... I actually preheat my resting cooler with about a quart of boiling water to heat up the cooler before I put meat like this in it to rest.
@@AtlantaGrillCompany Gosh didn’t know there was such a thing. Is that needed for resting for longer periods of time? Can you tell me the advantage or necessity of a cooler?
How offten did you add pellets? How much did you use?
wouldn't 6 hours on the grill burn a lot of propane ??? propane aint cheap
did you leave the outside burners on the entire cook time? so one outside burner on low then the smoker box?
yes
@@AtlantaGrillCompany thank you! going to give your recipe and techniques a try tomorrow
Great looking butt! If that is the propane model how much of the tank did you use on an 8 1/2 hour cook?
Roughly 1/3 of a tank... maybe a little more. I was also testing an electronic fuel gauge while I was doing this cook.
@@AtlantaGrillCompany What gauge did you use? Do you feel it's worth having? I have a manual gauge now and it isn't very specific.
@@nicktode I don't understand the question...
Zero smoke ring. It’s a shame.
