Why Is FULL POTENTIAL Darth Maul Way More Powerful Than You Might Think

  • Darth Mauls failures both on Naboo and on Mandalore, relegated the potential dark lord of the sith to a mere wanderer of the galaxy, fixated on revenge and with very limited power compared to his potential. It must be remembered that Maul was the son of Mother Talzin, one of the only other force weirlders that Palpatine feared. With this powerful force rich lineage flowing through his veins, Maul went on to cut down Qui Gon, a Jedi on par with many of the Jedi council, only being defeated by his arrogance. Like Vader, it can be assumed that the loss of his legs severely reduced his force potential, perhaps by as much as half. But even so, he was powerful enough to match Kenobi on several occasions. This implies that if Maul had not been defeated on Naboo, and if he had trained diligently, he could have likely matched Palpatine in power, perhaps going on to one day defeat him in line with the rule of 2 era sith.

But Palpatine won't allow it to happen anyway. Siths aren't noble knights who hands over the master title willingly. The apprentice has to kill the master first. That may be why he avoided maul who may kill him one day but chooses the crippled Anakin who won't be able to reach the full potential, hence won't pocess a threat to his throne. He Was right in that regard. But the little bit of light which remained inside Vader which is reignited by Luke is what destroyed Palpatine in the end.

Debatable in my opinion. He was very clearly raised with that mindset, and whenever he did have an apprentice it was one at a time. I mean his own master Sidious was ignoring the Rule of Two, so why would Maul abide by it? And when Maul was "gone," he allowed Dooku to have his own apprentice, and he kept his eyes on Anakin.

I doubt that tbh. In my eyes he was the last true sith, because he did follow the rule of two, he had Savage, then for a very brief moment after savages death, ezra. Even when Maul died, he didn't wish for redemption or forgiveness, he asked a VERY clear question, " Is he the one? He will avenge us. " That is the most sith-like thing a dying man can say, revenge. He was also fueled by hatred, had the sith eyes, had sith tattoo's, and did indeed try and kill his own master, as the sith rule intended. He also tried to expand his own evil agenda, by crime syndicates. Like the Hutts, black sun, etc. But he got double downed in the end so his plan failed, and he still, like a true sith, couldnt let go of that hate for Kenobi. Maul is my favorite character right next to Vader/Anakin, so maybe i'm just biased? But it's not just an opinion on feels, the things i wrote perfectly describe who Maul was, i hope this made sense :)

Sidious, as all sith lords, wanted the most powerful apprentice he could have.
Had Maul not suffered the Kenobi treatment, he would likely be far stronger during the clone wars than he was in TPM. However, he lost a great portion of his natural agility, and as a result, never achieved his TPM fencing skills again.
Still, had he not lost all his brother, mother and much of his bravery to Palpatine, he could still become much stronger in the force and strategy, eventually daring to challenge Palpatine during the imperial era, maybe not as his equal, but at least as a significant threat.
Instead, he lost all he had, and never again trusted his skills to think about defeating his old master. Therefore, he ceased to improve, and instead unsuccessfully searched for some arcane knowledge to give him what he missed, but what could in fact only be found in his very soul.
In the end, he focused on eventually getting revange on Kenobi, whom he considered an easier target than the true source of his misery, his master.
Maul was broken, rebuilt, and broken again. He partially rebuilt himself again, but never to his former glory, never getting the best of himself.

Palpatine and or GL even said Maul had the potential to surpass Sidious and become the most powerful sith ever and that Palpatine losing Maul was a genuine loss… but ofc he never lived up to that potential…. i know its not canon whatsoever but i like to think of Anakin and Maul as being the chosen ones of the jedi and sith but neither fulfilled that potential but in a twisted way fulfilled the prophecy, maul killing qui gon which cemented anakins turn, the sith grand plan, and the jedis destruction and anakin bringing balance to the force…. and then theres palpatine a powerful scheming sith that uses every outcome to his advantage

Guys, both people here were right. The gentleman on the motorcycle was trying to do a nice thing by dumping the tree in the proper place, not letting it be littered. The cop was doing his job and stopped a road hazard. That tree could have easily caught the chain or the back wheel and brought his bike down. It could have killed him, it could have caused another car to crash. It would have been the exact same issue if he just went to home Depot and bought a big 2x4 that he was carrying the same way. The cop would have the same issue. It is not allowed and it is needlessly dangerous. The fact that he didn't know is illegal pretty much means he didn't know his dangerous. Don't hate on the cop. You don't need to pick a side for every video. This is just a normal interaction. No winner or loser. No right or wrong.

Maul could have been one of the strongest dark side users of his time. Not in his power of the dark side abilities it self because he wasn't much reliant on the force, but his sheer will, his anger gave him the power he needed. He could have been the greatest duelist of all time. But his arrogance and his blindness for his focused hatred on kenobi, hindered him. He boasted himself to a victory, he thought he allready achieved, wich was his downfall at the end. He could have been the greatest lights aber duelist of his time, even stronger then Vader. And with more understanding and training into force abilities, he may have been able to become the greatest force user of his time.
I mean, just think about it. He got cut in half, and his rage of this defeat was so strong, that it kept him alive for 10 freaking years, building himself a lower body out of junk metal and electronics

Maul would never have been as powerful, nor would he ever have been able to defeat Palpatine. Maul was weak and was meant to die and was only brought back as a cash grab because of the fame he got for introducing the double bladed light saber. He was meant to get lucky and kill an old aging jedi, then die that was it nothing more and should have never been more. It's ruining things with how much they keep tying things back to him and bringing him into more and more stuff just to keep the cash grab going.

I think it would be much more compelling to say that the mental scars from the experience is what blocks the users force potential and working through those issues will allow the user to become full strength again.

Maul would never have reached his potential. It is clear from "Tales of the Jedi" that Sidious was already grooming Dooku into his new apprentice, Tyranus, even though he already had a disciple in Maul according to the Rule of Two. Even if Maul had endured the events of "The Phantom Menace" unscathed, Sidious would have cast him aside to make room for Tyranus - and Vader eventually. Of all his pupils, I find that Sidious valued Maul the least (I know MARVEL's "Darth Vader" series has Sidious claim Maul was a loss, but that's the comic author's interpretation, not George Lucas' or Dave Filoni's). Whereas Tyranus and Vader stood as the right hand at Sidious, kind of like stewards, Maul was used merely as an assassin. Sidious delegated power to Tyranus and Vader - Maul was treated as a mere lackey, sent to tie up loose ends. Tyranus and Vader were each granted a position: Head of State of the CIS and acting Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Military respectively. Maul, up until his tenure as the Shadow Collective's kingpin, held no personal status. We don't see Maul ordering Nute Gunray and his crones around, or even standing on equal ground. The Sith warrior is not given authority over the Trade Federation Droid Army, he is merely assigned to the Viceroy as some sort of enforcer to face the Jedi Knights.

It is lore that you lose strength in the force when parts of the body are severed. The midichlorian count in force-wielders is used as a gauge to measure force ability and potential power. They are found everywhere throughout an organic life-form . Yoda may be small, but he still has more midichloians than Obi-wan, for instance. When Maul was cut down, he lost the midichlorians in his legs and feet, greatly reducing his power. Same thing with Anakin getting all four of his limbs removed. He would’ve been unstoppable if he had all his midichlorians.
