  • My four wheel drive output shaft seal is leaking internally, allowing hydraulic fluid to leak into my clutch case. The tractor must be split to make this repair. Stay tuned for part 2!

    Denny, you got one heck of a good start on this job represented here in this video. funny story, first use of my 90° pneumatic ratchet nearly broke my hand. shocked me how powerful that little thing is.

      Thanks Soybean Farmer! Yes, they have a good amount of torque. I've had my hand crushed by them before.. Makes you think a little more about what you're going before hitting that button! Lol

    Lot of work, but a great learning experience! I'm dreading splitting the 3000, but it'll have to be done sometime.

      Yep it was a good experience. Just like anything else, it's just a bunch of nuts and bolts. Anyone can do it with enough motivation!

    Yep, that's one big project to split the tractor, no matter what size it is. Might I suggest making a dolly type step up to put under the front half to help with the split. When I've helped do something like this before, we cribbed up the back half to support it & had a wheeled dolly that mounted to the front half. That really helped making the splitting process a little easier. Don't forget to put wheel chocks in front & behind the rear wheels. It was still a lot of work tho. LOL Stay safe.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I plan on doing basically exactly what you said. Crib up the back, and build a dolly of some sort for the front. I haven't worked on that yet, but will hopefully get to it today. Chocking the wheels is also very important, thanks for the reminder! I appreciate you watching man. have a good one!

      I pull the seat of leave the front end loader on for stability reach in from the back with a big cherry picker and a high reach floor jack to support the front half have my wife help roll the back half back grange clutch and front tyranny seal through out bearing pilot bearing pressure plate do a all in fix. Took 6 hours and dove out the door.

    I currently have my Kubota L4330 at the dealer. They are about to split it to replace the driveshaft seals. It is a Hydro. Do you guys have a list of other recommended repairs with it already split in half?

    Nice tear down. Make sure you weage the front axle so the front can’t lean side to side. When you split it in half. Nice vid.👍🏻

      Ten hours is pretty quick for what it is. I'd love to have a 4010 or 4020. Very cool old machines!

    cool video. not that most people like tearing into their tractor that much but would be a fun job. the broken off and loose bolts for the loader are a scary find though.... better now then when trying to load bales with the new bale grab or some other time if it failed while working

    Those loader frame to tractor bolts are a common problem for Kubotas the come lose over time and should be checked frequently as a part of regular inspections

      Nope. The R4's were pretty good. I sold this tractor a long time ago.

    I need help getting a engine out of a L2501 kubota with a 1703 engine does that haft to b split in half. Or does it have a frame

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you need to remove the engine, then it will be a split. You could also try to rebuild it in place and avoid splitting it. Lots of people do that.

  • @tbob740
    @tbob740 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What was your tractor doing that told you that the seal was the problem. My L4200 started leaking hydraulic fluid yesterday and a little bit of reading on the forums has be worried I might have the same problem as you did.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was hydraulic oil leaking from the weep hole on the bottom of the clutch case. These have dry clutches, so there should be no hydraulic oil leaking from there at all. I hope this isn't the case for you, and it's an easy fix! Private message me your email address, and I'll get you the link for the PDF of the shop manual. Thanks for watching Tyler

    • @tbob740
      @tbob740 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sent you PM little bit ago. I think my problem might be different. Not sure if it’s any better tho. I have sign of oil running down along side the starter and it’s all flowing down to the weap hole and the shaft cover.

      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sent you an email, but I'm going to repeat what I said in it for anyone else reading this.
      That's leaking really bad! I'm pretty sure it's the same problem I had, just much worse. It looks like it's leaking at a rate that the weep hole can't keep up with, so it's leaking down your driveshaft. Mine started to do that right before I tore it apart.

  • @chrislayton2025
    @chrislayton2025 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think my Kubota L3600 has the same problem. the hydraulic fluid drains out of that drain plug thing on the bottom of the clutch case (that plug thing with the pin plunger in it is where it all drains out) almost as fast as I pour it in. Is it necessary to remove the front loader though?

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it is. You have to remove the subframe in order to split the tractor. Sorry to hear you have the same issue. It's really not that bad of a job, it's just time consuming with lots of steps. I wish you the best of luck!

    • @chrislayton2025
      @chrislayton2025 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Any tips on removing that front loader without the use of the hydraulics would be greatly appreciated

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrislayton2025 Hey Chris, sorry I accidentally deleted your comment about the doubling up of seals. My dealer told me to do that, and I would imagine its the same, assuming its the same/similar assembly. I would recommend it, but I'd hate to steer you wrong. Is consult your local dealer if you're questioning it.
