Nice!!!Been saving up the last few months,I want one so bad! What did you end up paying for it?Hard to find in Illinois near me.But I don't mind driving a few hours.
You’re so right about the reliability/simplicity of just having this Honda air cooled thumper. I’ve had the same bike for 2 years now and zero issues. The maintenance intervals are few and far between and easily done with basic tools/basic mechanical knowledge. I ride with a guy who has a KTM 300EXC and he is constantly fouling plugs, bike not starting, just frequent general mechanical issues. It’s such great peace of mind when you’re way, way out on some trails and you have confidence that 250F is going to bring you back home.
I reckon the stock plastics look good as is. It really stands out as a more offroad capable bike with the lift-kit and the protection parts. +1 for Team Red!
After seeing this bike in the showroom it reminded me of a XR200R. I had a XR200R in '82. Without any mods it helped me advance from the C class to the B class. I was holding off on this bike because I felt it was built for the masses and would need a lot of modifying to make it dirty worthy. I may get one after this video. Thank you for sharing.
Just bought a 2024 CRF250F a few weeks ago. I love it, gonna have to do some of these mods, especially stiffening up the fork. I weigh over 200lbs and I can overwhelm the suspension pretty quick.
I think a lot of people underestimate these types of bikes. What you can get for $7k is usually far superior to a much more expensive bike that you will still need to drop money into to make it reliable and protected.
Always stoked when I see a new upload from this channel… I bought a 2021 CRF250F because it was the closest thing to my old XR250R… I just bought a fire power featherweight lithium battery 🔋 for mine…
@@ironthumb3048 I could not notice any difference but the new battery 🔋 is definitely lighter and has a stronger start and I hooked up a tender connector so that if it ever sits for too long long I can keep it trick charged…
@justonpreble4083 Thanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking about getting a lithium battery and was hoping the weight savings would be noticeable. I really like the bike but wish it was lighter.
you have to remove the skid plate to check your oil level or add oil? also you have to modify these parts to make them function properly such as the shifter side engine case guard had to be trimmed a bunch to clear the shifter the stock peg springs need to be cut down to acommadate the wide pegs the spring pockets are short also have to drill a hole for oil changes i like the stuff it looks nice but they need to work out the bugs i think im returning the skid plate and pegs
Finally someone scraped together enough aftermarket parts to make this platform exciting… Just wish Honda would wake up and offer this motor with the CRF250RX Chassis and Suspension!!!
Even just upgraded suspension would be cool. We have a klx300 that’s very similar to the crf, except it has way better suspension, but results in a tall seat height unfortunately. I think it’s actually taller than the kx250!
Love this bike, use it mustering in the Aussie outback, only issue with them for me and I would think appiles to trail riding is they don’t have a kickstart, anyway to get one installed on these?
I’ve ridden street bikes for years and your Chanel has inspired me to give dirt a shot so I picked up a egl 250 ( ktm plastics honda 250 clone engine, perfect for me as a beginner dirt rider, I’ve already been sourcing engine guards and lift kit options
Back in the day, I had a heavily modified XR250R with a CR500 inverted fork, 34mm pumper carb, 280cc big bore kit, and eventually a 300cc big bore kit. It was pretty freaking good, until I got my first KTM 400EXC with 453 big bore kit ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very nicely set up on that bike. I rode an air cooled DR350 for many years. Lots of downsides, but that thing took me a lot of places and lots of single track. Along the same lines as yours. I modded pretty well. I did run into some clutch issues from heat build up in tight single track. Let it cool and your fine.
Nice. As far as cosmetic mods, red plastic and frame, black seat cover and rims. White accents as is. I know that seems boring, but they finally got the stock colors right.
Seat Concepts used my 250 F here in Boise as a model, but they should have at least given me a seat for the use of my bike. Oh well. I have used most of the stuff on your bike. I just got mine back from the shop with the Fork kit extenders, and the Hagon shock, and a few other goodies. I'm going to get the headlight, that looks great.
Bro I respect that opinion.. but I have a crf250r crf250f and crf300l all 2022 and there's no way you would seriously take the f over the r just say honda has great bikes and people should consider the 250f more!
This bike is legend 🔥 Amazing video, one of your best yet! Very informative and makes me wish I would have waited for one of these bikes! Love your passion and I vote for the all black plastics 🙌
Would I be able to set this bike up as a 250 lb rider? I'm mostly concerned with suspension right off the bat. Would it feel underpowered at that weight. I am a beginner, but also want a capable bike for northeastern trails.
It’s cool they brought the XR250 engine back but wish it came in a more capable platform. Ive been wanting to put an XR400 engine in a Honda aluminum chassis. My XR400 was my favorite dirt bike of all time I rode it more than any other I’ve had even motocrossed it a handful of time.
As far as raising the rear of the bike, is it up just 1” from stock (corona linkage)? You said about 3” of ground clearance was added, but is most of that coming from the forks ?
Man, the only thing the CRF250F is missing are inverted forks. Even if most riders won't feel a huge difference (unless they are advanced riders), the aesthetics of USD forks are unbeatable. They just look so beefy and badass. Even my cheap little Honda Grom and CB300R have USD forks, and it adds sooo much to the look.
Awesome build I love the size of the Honda 250f. Love that tank bag can you comment on how this bag would fit on the Husky TE300? My concern is that the seat/tank area of my bike may be a bit too flat for this one.
TANNER , A FRIEND CAME OVER LAST NITE WITH A NEW SNIPER 155 IN ALL BLACK,FROM THE FACTORY..IT WAS STUNNING ,GO TO A YAMAHA DEALER AND TAKE A LOOK ,YOULL BE AMAZED
Great review brother. Just uploaded my review as well yesterday. Similar riding styles. Appreciate your content! Always great to watch and inspiring. Keep it up!
Tanner great videos, with the suspension mods, did you notice if you can grip the bike better higher up. In stock form I find my legs are a bit tall for gripping seat when standing
It’s easy to BUY a cool bike but it always feels so good to BUILD a cool like. I love the way the 250f looks now and I’m sure it rides just as good🤙 Small bike>Big bike
Are you using the Large or the Small Tusk Olympus Tank Bag? I'm considering getting one, but I'm not sure if the large will fit right or if it can interfere while riding... How did you managed the installation with the gas cap hose?
Looking for thoughts from someone more experienced than myself. Looking to get either a KDX200/220 or a crf230. Would be 99% woods riding. Which would y'all recommend. I have tons of quad experience and ride road bikes, not much experience on dirt bikes
if only Honda would of slapped the '86 XR350 motor in there....fuel injected of course; they could've also used the Cartridge forks from the early 90's XR's and the fully adjustable rear shock; hmm, come to think of it, i think i still have some cartridge forks and a rear shock; I have been thinking about getting the 250F and seeing your passion for the bike has me thinking even more.
Possibly a dumb question here, but I thought the primary reason you wanted the crf250f over the crf300l was the suspension? If you're replacing the suspension on the 250f anyway doesn't that kind of negate the biggest downside? Is it a clearance thing, or just something about the engine character at low speeds?
I own a 250 dual sport with 50/50 tires. I have a 30 minute commute to and from work. I know my bike is meant more for street but would like more aggressive tires because this bike has done great off road. I only have about 150 miles of seat time period but know I'm going to have more time off road than on. Have you heard of tusk tires and would 80/20 DOT approved tires make a lot of difference on black top? Of the accidents I've had, I think that a more aggressive tire would have made a difference. Mud, wet grass, ect. This is a lot but any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Btw, they're only $125 new, per set, on Amazon!
I did the same stuff but went the extra mile with the suspension and man it wasn’t enough for what I wanted… the triple clamps came undone during a 24 hour race was def not fun surviving that lap and ultimately even with upgrades suspension I blew through race techs best shock to the point the stock one was the only option… forks bent on me and despite emulator valve and motocross springs and oil weight still bottomed out. Other than that the fuel injection was a dream and the bike was a absolute blast to ride. Perfect power for fun. Honesty I’d prefer fse250e from gpx lighter more capable cheaper and street legal. Inverted forks and decent shock. You should def check them out next and compare them.
Do what I did. Swap the front forks for a set of xr250r forks, send them to Bruce for his Terrain Tamer set up ($$$). Not to be confused with his basic rod, flutes and springs.
I have this bike, it’s a good bike. Great to learn on, but I have a hard time spending the money on upgrades. Lol when the muffler costs a 1/3 of what I paid for it then the suspension brings it up to have what I paid I might as well have just bought an enduro at that point.
Great video! I appreciate that you say some of the parts are just to look good while others are a real improvement. Did I miss it or did you not tell us what your bike weighs now? I have both a Honda XR200R with USD built forks, custom fully adjustable shock, alloy swing arm and links, disc brakes, and much more, as well as an XT225 also with full custom suspension ($$$) so I am with you on smaller, simple bikes. My XR weighs in at 214, while my XT is a porky 270 so I am curious about the CRF250F real weight, not the claimed weight. I also have 2 DR650's and a Wee 650, all with custom suspension but Light is RIGHT for me.
I just got a 2023 CRF250F and was interested in getting an Yoshimura RS-2 exhaust. What are you thoughts on and aftermarket exhausts and tuners? I ride in the southwest at similar altitudes as you do. Thank you for he great content it's what helped me pick the 250f!
I have both. Exhaust helps a little, but save the money on the tuner, it's not really worth it. Use VP T4 fuel.....makes a bigger impact than the tuner, even if your running stock exhaust.
Have you upgraded the fuel tank? What is the approximate weight of this bike? I've been looking at the XR650L but I'm not a fan of the weight and I love "old school".
Nice bike 👍. I bought a XR150L 7 month ago to learn to drive. I want to upgrade with a bike like yours. I use my 90 % on road and 100% off-road. I like to buy one and make it street legal and then add the extra mod. My concern are gas and weight. I need to drive 197 km in the high way ( no gas stations). Due to the light should it be safe to drive in the high ? Thanks you :) . Waiting to askers to buy one 😎
Anyone have insight into the throttle cam on the ODI lock on grips? It looks like the Cam type "R" that is specced for the CRF125FB is the correct cam, just has to be ordered separately. I can't find a photo of it that shows the groove to confirm, though.
Nice video! Bike looks great! But… if you purchase it new for 5k And put 4k into your at 9k. I purchased my 2020 KTM 350 for 10,200 out the door. For 1200.00 dollars you get so much more. Yes Hondas are bullet proof but my KTM has been perfect so far and my last few KTMs were perfect too with no issues after owning them for several years. I love Hondas I have owned several of them in the past but I’d wish they made a more aggressive dual sport in the 250 segment. There 450L seems great but on the heavy side.
So I’m between the CRF250F and the KLX300R. I’m buying my 8 yr old a 110 and want to get something to ride with him. I’m 36 yrs old, 5’11” , 220-230 lbs. Haven’t been on a bike in 20 yrs but used to ride. What is your pref for a 2024 fun/casual ride?
The 230F weighs 248lbs. The 250F weighs 268lbs. The 230F requires a 14 tooth counter sprocket and supension upgrades and it rules all the past and present air-cooled 250's. th-cam.com/video/8iagnU6k3co/w-d-xo.html
Looks like you rode through Pepboys with a magnet on it. Just kidding ,bike reminds me of my old XR250 /400's of old. wore out 2 of them. if you had to carry more oil than gas you know she's in trouble. Well done, great video.
I have the same question. For not much more money, don’t you get more with a 300l? Not bashing this 250… just looking at both for a purchase myself and and leaning toward the 300l.

Sorry I means 10 % off road
Anyone have insight into the throttle cam on the ODI lock on grips? It looks like the Cam type "R" that is specced for the CRF125FB is the correct cam, just has to be ordered separately. I can't find a photo of it that shows the groove to confirm, though.
I cant find the kickstand adapter except the one for the lift kit :/
Nice video! Bike looks great!
But… if you purchase it new for 5k
And put 4k into your at 9k.
There 450L seems great but on the heavy side.
what about engine performance mods besides adding an aftermarket exhaust? Is there anything to do to get more horsepower?
VP T4 fuel. Huge difference
That was an excellent video Tanner well done. Do you have any plans to modify the engine, exhaust, fuel injection tuners, etc?
Would this bike be good for sand dunes as well?
I want to turn my rear drum break to disc break on my 230 f do the braquet galiper of the 250 fit on mine
Odd question you mentioned you lowered the foot pegs 1 inch for you because its comfortable for tall riders, How tall are you?
And gear shifters for a 2024 Crf250f ??
So I’m between the CRF250F and the KLX300R. I’m buying my 8 yr old a 110 and want to get something to ride with him. I’m 36 yrs old, 5’11”
, 220-230 lbs. Haven’t been on a bike in 20 yrs but used to ride. What is your pref for a 2024 fun/casual ride?
Is the headlight housing from Honda?
I see it comes in black or white from Baja designs... curious where you got the red?
wil al these customizations work on the crf 230 ?
The 230F weighs 248lbs. The 250F weighs 268lbs. The 230F requires a 14 tooth counter sprocket and supension upgrades and it rules all the past and present air-cooled 250's.

Amen...I suspect that the same could be done with many brands
Easy pull clutch kit? I thought it was extremely light to begin with?
Is the best all around.
What's missing compared to the 250rx?
Looks like you rode through Pepboys with a magnet on it. Just kidding ,bike reminds me of my old XR250 /400's of old. wore out 2 of them. if you had to carry more oil than gas you know she's in trouble. Well done, great video.
Sick...it looks awesome
GREAT VIDEO TANNER..DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR BIKE IS MADE IN THAILAND ? JUST LIKE
You put the lower chain guide rubber piece upside down!
No exhaust or motor upgrades?
I’d like to see the black plastics
So how much did all the up grades cost?
Black with gold rims would look nice
Nice build but I feel like you could have reworked the 300l and ended up with similar results and a better more modern engine.
I have the same question. For not much more money, don’t you get more with a 300l? Not bashing this 250… just looking at both for a purchase myself and and leaning toward the 300l.
Heavier,much
