I disagree! It’s not that hard to buy grade A jadeite, even at a cheaper price. It won’t be super high quality if it’s cheaper (unless you get lucky at a private sale), but budget A definitely exists. The main thing to look for is that A jadeite sounds like a high-pitched bell when tapped. The higher quality of grade A (predominantly meaning transparency), the higher and longer lasting the sound. I have a bangle that I’ve worn for 15 years and can hear the high “ting” whenever it comes into contact with my other bracelet. In comparison, I have a grade C bangle that makes a lower-pitched and duller noise when tapped and can hear the same sound whenever your bangles tap against something. You can tell A from C based on the stone’s natural fibrous-looking properties as well. Jadeite always has fibrous-looking “inclusions”, even when super transparent. When it’s A, they’ll be uniform throughout, even when the colors change; none of the fibers will stand out more than the others. When it’s C, the fibers noticeably take in the dyes in some places better than others. Grade B is a little more difficult; it also has a duller sound due to the polymer injections, but is harder to judge based on sight. B jadeite has predominantly been stabilized - they don’t really mess with the stone’s natural colors - so it can visually look like a grade A. Generally speaking, price is also an indicator; if it seems too good to be true, especially online, it is. If someone says that they’re selling grade A jadeite and it has a super saturated and bright color (e.g. the bangles in the video) or they’ve been listed as “icy” (transparent) and the price is less than a couple of hundreds/thousands, it’s guaranteed to be anything but what they say. If it’s listed as grade A, is more opaque, and is mostly a lighter green in color, you’re likely good - there’s no real point in faking a lesser grade A piece. ^_^
It's possible but need to always do the extra homework or ask for vertification.

With so many fakes, I don't think I'll mind wearing a fake, as long as I'm not charged for the price of a real one.
Even if I could afford to get a piece of rough jadeite & have it made into a ring ( I cannot afford it), I would have no idea where to get it, & prove to myself that it is real!

I took my beautiful piece of Jade into a jewelry store to have the sitting around the edges fixed because it got caught on my sweater and they switched out my jade.. they insisted they didn't I even showed him pictures of my jade they still insisted they didn't.😢 wouldn't give it back😢😢 people are thieves

Let's face it-we probably are all here bc we love jade. It's ok to buy chalcedony ( 1 tennis bracelet, 3 rings) as long as we know it's chalcedony (aventurine, etc.), because we love the jade-resembling color. But, as jadeite is my favorite gemstone, I do NOT want to "accidentally" buy another gemstone thinkning it is jadeite!
I think serpentine is beautiful. But I hate that it is marketed as jade! Serpentine is beautiful as it is, and can be marketed on its own
I bought a natural mint green (untreated) chalcedony tennis bracelet that was adverised as chalcedony, as well as a lower grade kind of opaque oiled emerald tennis bracelet a couple of yrs. ago. They are a mint green and I think beautiful. People went online & reviewed them, & complained that they looked like jade. I guess that is why I got them , & enjoy them for what they are, & I didn't pay a huge amount of money for them. But jade is still my favorite gemstone!

@@Goldendives Thanks to you I discovered I do indeed own a pendant made of serpentine, at least it was a casual gift so no big loss on my end and I doubt he paid for it either. Now to figure out my beads, (another casual gift) definitely low end but they're much harder to scratch. The spacer beads are probably gold fill like the clasp. They're nice shades of velvety mossy green and someone took some care matching the left and right. They aren't totally horrible, lol!

I don't think the shop owner would be happy if you start scratching a jade sculpture just to see if it is possibly fake or not ? There is a similar market in fake amber - also made from resins. There must be a more scientfic non-destructive method of testing. Probably would be expensive but if you are going to spen 1000's on a peice of jade it might be worth it.
Serpentine are more expensive when its in this kind of color or its clean or transparent you should know that
I have seen a bunch of Jade with cloudiness and black dot inclusions, so I don't know what you are talking about.

Majority of these jades are real but low quality jade. Other natural stones still great to have. There are other stones way better than jade but finding natural grade A quality jadite are expensive and time consuming. Marbles nice stone too as well as others. It bad luck to break a jade real or not every livings and non-living things have spark of energy of God. If a jades or stones does not resonated with you, it best you give it away as just like a pet it wanted to be with a good owner.
You destroy real Jadeite , just because its dyed or has resin but its still Jadeite ,could be kept or sold as grade b or c Jadeite ?
I agree that those are still Jadeite at a certain degree, but he is all about pure Jade and I understand that because I would LOVE to own pure jades, ( all I have are low quality ones and I feel kind of bad that is the quality I could buy for now, not that my seller deceived me I know it has polymer in it but atleast she sells real stones because around here it is usually GLASS and its heartbreaking. whats important to me is that it is still Jadeite because I need its metaphysical properties. ) problem is, its very expensive. I think if only people won't sell these kinds and only PURE JADEITE/NEPHRITE are sold, fake stuff won't be circling around the market and we won't get deceived and pure Jade could be easily obtained :)

I warn about quartzite fake jade, hardness is 7 so scratch test won't work.
So lab test is really the only option.

Those with resin …. Try the scratch or sound test. Type C jade is still jade just that it’s chemically enhanced.
what type of UV light are you using the 365 or the 395 or 400+s?

This is why i am very hesitant to buy Jade from Asia. It is a good bet to buy Canadian nephrite, or guatemalan jadeite. The nice bright green Jade buddhas and bangles are often treated

WHY
One should never expect real Jadeite/Nephrite Jade at low prices. Always assume they will be fake. Pieces should be appreciated only on their artistic merits. No way to test except in a laboratory. Its apparent that you have become truly "jaded" trying to get a deal with these pieces.
I like your jade videos. But no need to destroy that stuff. Serpentine is still a mineral such as the treated jadeite.

I have a question, there are some pieces that did not glow under UV, however you said they are fake, how were you able to tell?
Old traditional way of finding out it’s real Jade is wrapping hair around the Jade and putting a lighter to the hair. Real jade the hair won’t burn. I bought my first jade from eBay and it was real. Sorry to hear you lost your money

Well, if it makes you feel better, Gd, you're not alone. All collectors have been through it. The biggest perpetrator here in the West? eBay--who will allow any substance (including actual sh*t) to be advertised as 100% grade AAA jadeite! What's more is that they used to have an "ask an expert" collectables page that had an article about jade which totally admitted that 95% of what's advertised on their own site as jade is, in fact, fake.
I wish they would bring back that "ask an expert" page! Does anyone know where we can seek this kind of online advice now? ( I cannot believe how unknowledgeable, rude, & unhelpful the jewelers are where I live!)
I feel your frustration. I also dislike fakes. I work very hard for the real jade I have, and other goods. Fakes, replicas, and imitations on natural should be completely band. There isn't enough being done to get them off the market. So I would do the same thing and hammer them off to the trash.
The REAL problem is being lied to! Being sold, told it's what you want, for a higher price when it's not at all and you've been fleeced. No one likes a con-artist.

Well in the United States there are Korean jewelry stores , Japanese jewelry stores , Chinese jewelry stores .
I think it’s not so much of the question if fake, it’s a matter if it’s natural or treated.
And this is why I will only buy jade from Canada , direct from the people who own the mines! I don’t care for jadeite jade anyway , I don’t like the feel or texture ….nephrite for me!😊
I don't think a lot of Asian people consider nephrite to be "real" jade, even though as an American I believe it is. But I do prefer the mint green translucency of jadeite jade. I think Canadian nephrite jade has too much yellow in it & appears "olive" colored. I prefer the mint color of jadeite, which has more blue in it on the color spectrum.

Because of this video I’ve just scratch tested all of my nephrite and it all seems to be legit. It was not scratched only a metal streak was left behind and easily wiped off. As far as jadeite is concerned I just watched a video showing a piece of jadeite pass the UV test. It didn’t glow at all, but when sent out to GIA it came back as “resin detected” even though it came with a certification classifying it as type A so I won’t trust any of it anymore. Thanks for the video it was informative and funny at the end.
Me too! I scratch my 'so called nephrite' ring and its scratched easily. I just realized that I've been scammed by an online seller.
Some jade do scratch, they just poorer quality. Also the fact they say jade is as strong as quartz and don’t leave marks when scratched is BS they too scratch how the hell you think they carved these stones a long time ago. So it’s real. I use jade for healing and my jade gave me amazing results and they scratch with force.
After this video, Im not buying any jade until I know what the hell Im buying. 😂 I've made many bad investments with stone jewelry. Nothing is for certain in the gemstone world.

I bought jadeite online. 100% real. Use Etsy people. And buy small pieces (pendants).
Just looking at what he bought you know he got scammed.
Why, everything looks like it came from an archeological dig (Fake). I guarantee you he bought everything thinking he was the one scamming the seller by buying ancient jade.
And the bangles? Look at them. Look at the color it looks to good to be real. Real jadeite affordable bangles are much more opaque, and the green isn't as vibrant, or neon it just looks like a dark green or pale green.
He bought everything thinking that was either ancient jade, or million dollar bangles at dirt cheap prices. He was the one who bought everything thinking that he was scamming the sellers.
And resin impregnation? Look at the piece it should have a visible grain; the visible grain looks like fiber glass used as reinforcement on resin car frames.
Not just pendants or small pieces are real from there.

The best way to detect real and fake jade; wrap around a single strand of hair to the jade and holding it firmly, light a cigarette lighter, if the hair won't burn it is natural, untreated real jade.
That's a way to detect if any crystal you have is real and not plastic or resin. It can't distinguish between stones. This works on rose quartz, too.

actually do you know what you are looking for? jadeite is not the same as nephrite jade. nobody would buy jade/jadeite online unless you have a trusted gemstone dealer and certification institute.
