I got the X340 PRO 144 for over a year now (I live in Singapore), and I think it's ok. My only issue so far is that it sometimes flickers, which I think is caused by my 4090. I don't get this flicker with the other computer attached to this monitor. I agree, navigating the OSD is terrible without a joystick. Another issue is that the DP version defaults to 1.2, and you need to change this to 1.4 to be able to get to 144hz.
why cannot? $2000 for something he will keep for 10 years? compared to so many sinkies buying branded bags or clothes for thousands a year@@nicktan4530
I've been trying to get a new monitor. The first one had a broken screen and the other one had a bad power supply. Im getting tired of sending them back. I've torn apart my desk a few times this week and I've learned that a good stand is important. It's just better to have a solid peace of kit than to save few dollars.
I tried ultra wide, was the Samsung SJ555 (Same resolution no curviture) but the panel viewing angles sucked and I am not a fan of VA panels(dimm looking at angle). And the game I play (SC2) only did 16:9. not a good fit for me. I like the idea of replacing 2 monitors with 1 but in practice I even with fancy zones I found it cumbersome. Maybe will need to try again in the future.
The emphasis on HDMI and DisplayPort should be lessened in favor of USB-C with alt-display mode (if not USB4). Hell, get rid of DisplayPort altogether imo. Don't think I've ever seen those used in the past five years. In terms of home setups, most people are using laptops significantly more and more over big and clunky towers, especially those that only have HDMI and/or DisplayPort ports. I'd get something like this for my wife's laptop, but I'd have to get her a USB-C to HDMI scenario, but I'll pass and wait for a more modern low costing ultra wide monitor. Black Friday isn't too far off. Good overview btw.

You are rich enough to afford 4090 ?

Bruh you can afford a 4090 and not a proper branded monitor?
imagine getting a 4090 then getting a cheap OEM rebranded overpriced prism monitor, that's not even 240hz or 4k to make use of the damn 4090.
I am considernig too. but I am worried about is that my laptop (140W RTX 4050) is able to carry games.

For an entry level pro, I would expect at least one nipple, lol
